  1. I watched this about 6am this morning. I've got Covid and woke up with a fever and a killer headache. I couldn't get back to sleep so stuck it on. What a pop. I got goosebumps and a little tear did flow. (I think that was a combination of the moment, tiredness and illness). Felt miles better by the end!

Hope this is OK to ask.

What did Ric Flair say in the final Nitro promo that was cut from his WWE DVD release and was there any reason?

    Thanks

I've not seen the DVD but I imagine it is the part where he talks about how Vince McMahon Snr voted for Ric to become the NWA World Champion. Probably a combination of it being a bit too kayfabe breaking and because it refers to a time when WWWF was still part of the NWA.

    Bryce Remsburg.

Ever since O'Rourke brought it up on his podcast I can't take my eyes off him during matches - specifically when he puts his hands on his head after a big move or when he jumps in to make a count.

Agree with this. I try not to let it bother me but it really distracts me when he's basically doing this to every big move:

  4. CM Punk was interviewed on the radio recently, talking about The Rock's Smackdown appearance this Friday. Clearly this will never happen, but it would be an awesome way to bring him back, if he is coming back, which he isn't.

    Quote

From The Kevin & Bean Show on 106.7 KROQ FM

"I enjoy The Rock, I do," Punk said of The Rock and his return on Friday. "And I'm not trying to put this out... gee, hopefully people don't do this, but do you remember the last time The Rock was in the Staples Center?"

He continued, "Let's do it again. When is this show, next Friday? Dwayne, call me Friday," Punk joked.

One of the hosts imagined how big it would be if they did a phone call segment like that on SmackDown, but had the camera cut backstage to Punk on his phone, live in the Staples Center for his WWE return.

Punk responded to that fantasy booking and said, "100% better than anything on their shows since I left."

If I want to see BOLA, is the only option to wait until they release it on DVD? Does PWG not stream anywhere?

Wait til they release it on DVD or wait a long time for it to eventually go onto Highspots. BOLA 2018 isn't even up yet.

I'm super interested in seeing what KENTA has left. Weren't there reports that he had a couple of belters on 205 Live, only no fucker was watching?

I learnt the hard way last year to skip all the tag matches in the G1. I can't imagine being able to keep up with it if you don't.

Does anyone do any type of wall chart? I'm such a loser I'd love to print out a little wall chart similar to when the footie World Cup is on.

Not a wall chart but each year I make an Excel spreadsheet with all the matches, which auto-updates the standings and eventually fills out the final. Which I think makes me even more of a loser. It's here if anyone cares - https://we.tl/t-DjMns2wQv2

  7. Awful news. He was a great performer. I saw him many times at PCW. I thought his run as a heel there was great. He was loved by the fans after coming back from his broken neck and managed to flip that into being booed by everyone in the room.

I remember once giving him loads of shit at a show (in a "I like you so I'm booing you" type way) and he came up to me, face to face, at which point I thought "ah feck, I've gone too far" then he planted a kiss right on my lips. It might have been at a little Indie show and meaningless to almost everyone but it's a cool moment I'll always remember.

I really thought you were going for a Grandpa Simpson quote there.

Anyone who gave that battle royal an A has automatically lost all credibility.  It was such a bad match, but given its purpose was the promote the PPV, it was even worse.  I wish there was a way of knowing how many people chose not to order the PPV after watching that.

Russo is NOT a porn star...

I'd be surprised if many people watching the pre-show hadn't already ordered the PPV. Like others, I thought the Battle Royal was a mess both in terms of too many "spots" happening at the same time and production somehow managing to miss almost all of them. There was one point Joey Janella was suddenly walking around with a cigarette on his forehead, it was only a replay minutes later they showed Jimmy Havoc sticking it there with a staple gun. Whether you're a fan of that style or not, that should be a moment that happens in the middle of the ring, with all the focus on it.

I could see Punk winning the Pre show battle royal under a mask and then reveal himself at the end of the show for a square off with Omega.

Gets everyone talking and that’s your match for the first ever AEW champion.

I'd love to see a masked man win the Battle Royal, come in to face Omega at the end and hit him with the GTS to a huge crowd pop....

Then have the masked man reveal himself as KENTA. That's probably the only way that crowd will boo anyone all night.

  10. I really like Something to Wrestle and don't mind Conrad at all. I want to be able to like 83 Weeks just as much but Bischoff has this habit on almost every show of constantly coughing or clearing his throat which drives me up the wall. The bullshit stories and excuses I can take, it's part of the entertainment, but the bloke needs to drink a glass of water before he starts talking.

People often go on about how creative fans at Progress are with their chants. They’re not. If you have a name that’s 3 syllables, you’re getting the Boney M - Daddy Cool chant (“Tyler, Tyler Baaate!...”) or the KC & The Sunshine Band - Give It Up chant (“na na, na na, na na na nan nan na, Tyler Tyler Bate, Tyler Bate! Tyler Tyler Baaate”)

Don't forget "Travis, Travis, Travis Fucking Banks" or "Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy, Fucking Havoc" or "Toni, Toni, Toni, Fucking Storm".

  12. I'm going to the Milton Keynes show, despite living much, much closer to Manchester because my friends live down south and I want to watch the show with them.

Manchester has more singles matches but nothing of any real significance is going to happen at either show really is it? The RPW title or tag titles may change hands but for me this is more about seeing guys like Suzuki and Okada. The fact they're both in a tag match doesn't bother me that much.

I do wonder whether Manchester has the "bigger" matches because there are still a fair number of tickets available whereas MK is pretty much sold out.
