  1. That's correct. I enjoyed our season in the same league and maintain we would have won the league that year had we not conceded those two late goals against you at home! Still, I had one of my favourite football awaydays when we beat Kings Lynn in the playoff final. It was great to see us play on the same turf as Ronnie Radford did all those years ago. Hopefully we'll get to lock horns in the division above in a few years but it's all about survival for us right now.

  2. We still have 29 games to play. Our game on Saturday was our first in a month.

We actually published a letter we sent to the NL last week saying the league should at least be suspended for safety reasons and got a barrage of criticism because we were third from bottom - we'd not had a great start but had only played 10 games up until that point! Now of course the news has dropped about the next round of financing coming through loans and everyone wants the season cancelled now. Pounds over people. The league and most of the clubs in it are out for themselves. The exception being the NLN clubs who seem pretty organised and largely working together on the matter. I hate football right now.

  3. As a few of you probably know I am on the management committee of a NLS team and I could write a book about our dealings with the National League over the last 8-9 months. I'm no fan of this government by any stretch but I back them 100% on not handing over any more tax payer or lottery money to them. They are at best incompetent, at worst complete crooks. From my club's perspective, they have let us down at every step, putting lives and their very member clubs' futures at risk every step of the way. The season at this level should never have started without fans, it was completely unsustainable for 90% of clubs and it does favour the small clubs with no fans but a wealthy backer like Boreham Wood or Dorking. There is one player at Boreham Wood on more money than our entire squad of 18.

There's a meeting with them tomorrow and now the agenda has moved from safety to money I expect all out rebellion.

Did @Guy Bifkinever end up sending Loki "The Undertoker", strongest of the weed?

Was sent to him by Royal Mail in the battery compartment of a talking Stone Cold Steve Austin doll. Much like your copy of Frampton Comes Alive, it never arrived (or came alive), presumably intercepted by the Feds or more likely I didn't pay enough postage on it or something. I seem to remember successfully sending a small consignment to King Coconut over in Germany though. That must be close to 20 years ago now. I'm not sure how Undertoker, a scwaggy bit of ratweed at best,  would stand up to today's mega strains.

  6. I have to say, after vowing to not watch any more new Star Wars content after the last film I've done a massive Boris style U-turn and finally watched the Mandalorian and it's comfortably the best thing there's been outside the original trilogy. It hasn't managed to ruin any fond childhood memories thus far.

  7. This was 37 minutes well spent, reliving the highlights from his 86 tournament. Well worth a watch if you've never seen it.

There is a bit where he actually tackles Burruchaga I think and is like fuck off mate, I'll take this from here. The only mistakes he makes is passing to team mates. For the haters, there's loads of footage of him getting two footed and elbowed in the face, particularly the England and Italy games. I've forgotten how shit that England team was. None of them were fit to be on the same pitch.  Even Emlyn Hughes was in awe back in the studio. Real recognises real.

  8. Without doubt the greatest in my eyes. I've never felt the same sense of danger whenever he picked up the ball against England in 86, it didn't matter where he received it on the pitch, he could hurt you from anywhere and dribble past your whole team and score if he fancied it. And he did of course in that game. 86 was his World Cup, it was as close to a tournament won single handed as you will ever see. He had the grace of Messi, and the physicality of Ronaldo. He was better than both.

I actually saw him live at Wembley in 1980 but I was a nipper and can remember nothing about the game, even after watching the highlights on YouTube.

I was never a huge fan of his away from the pitch. Nothing to do with the cheating or the drugs or the politics, maybe a bit of the wifebeating but I never took to him as a character. I really enjoyed Gentile kicking him out of the 82 World Cup as much as I enjoyed his performance in 86. He was that sort of character for me, part poet, part foaming savage.
