  1. Jai fucking Courtney, fuck off you useless cunt

Seriously? How does this guy keep getting decent roles? He is awful. He is one of the main things putting me off watching that new Terminator film, I'll probably still watch it for old times sake, but I know when he appears on screen the film will take a nose dive in quality.

The more I see/hear about this film, the less interested I am. The picture looks like a bad advert in the back of Kerrang for an overpriced zombie 'experience' in Swanage.

lol, my first thought on that picture was that it looks like some crappy sci-fi channel movie, even the guns look cheap.

If they do it right it will basically be a Oceans Eleven clone.

From the guy that brought us Sabotage? Yeah, I think instead we'd better hope this movie is not a stinker, because at the minute that's the vibe I'm getting, hope I'm wrong.

  2. They should keep it on Andrew Garfield if possible. Three guys in 15 years or so would feel like too many, I think.

I'd be surprised if they keep him. I would think they would want to wash their hands of the mess that was TASM2. It's not Garfield's fault, he's ok in the role, but shit happens. Batman and Superman change actors every couple of years, it's not a problem for me. This news puts pressure on DC/WB, Marvel up until now have only been playing with the lower cards making them into superstars, now they have a legit icon character to play with.

  3. DC has apparently announce their line up of films till 2020 (courtesy of IGN.com):

In all seriousness if Marvel keeps up their momentum, you're potentially looking 4 super hero films a year. Surely this is going to burn the genre out?

It will only burn out if we get shit film after shit film, I'm not sure how many it would take to turn people off, and wait for the home releases instead. What I see happening perhaps is people only going to see the mega hitters, like Avengers, BvS, JL, Xmen etc basically when theirs a huge team on board. Things like Thor, Wonder-woman etc will probably see a dip in box office compared to those, it seems like Marvel have already noticed this and are sticking Iron Man into Cap3.

I wouldn't trust that list wb/dc put out either, 2020 is a long time away, I wouldn't be surprised at all if half those movies never happen.

Avengers 2 trailer looks great, that Ultron voice is so creepy. I had to ban myself from watching Spiderman 2 trailers, since there were about 20 of them lol. I mean I don't even really need to see a trailer to Avengers 2, because I know for sure I'm watching it. 2 Trailers is more than enough, that's all I'll watch anyway.

  4. Amazon are selling it for £30. From what I have played so far it's worth that price imo.

Yeah, but that doesn't included the season pass which is 25quid, and I just know I would want all the DLC too, I'm just better off waiting. Loads of other games to play anyway.

Do you think Western developers will ever be able to create good boss battles? I've just finished the (mostly) brilliant Shadow of Mordor but fucking hell, the last couple of bosses were terrible imo.

The Witcher 2 battle against the dragon was pretty cool. Theirs also the Darksiders series that has some cool boss fights, and wasn't the last DMC made by a UK studio? I haven't played it but the fighting/bosses in there looked pretty much the same as the old one's.

  5. Just everything about it looks like BL2 and the 4 DLC's, it's not the next step I was expecting for the series. I've heard the main story is shorter than BL2 as well. With everything set on the moon I can't expect there to be much in terms of other areas to explore either, from what I've seen in the trailers theirs not much anyway. It's no surprise the game is not coming on PS4 or XB1, when it feels more like it's stretching BL2 out further. More BL2 isn't a bad thing, I just don't think it's worth the price as a stand alone game.

  6. The new Borderlands game is put on Friday. Can't wait. Absolutely loved the first 2.

I'm a fan of Borderlands, but I can't help but feel the new game feels like DLC. I've read they plan DLC for it upto Oct 2015, considering BL series goes on sale nearly every steam sale, I'm thinking of just holding on till some kind of GOTY edition. I did that for BL2. It's going to be cool playing as Jack even if he is a fake version.

I've been waiting on Evil Within as well, but Bethesda came out with some quite bizarre PC requirements for the game that put me off buying it, I've been reading how people are having issues and what not, and those black bars! At least you can remove them on the PC version, but it seems to cause more trouble. I still really want to play it though, but I hope they get some kind of patch out to help.

  7. As much as it pains me to say this when you are agreeing with me "All you need is Kill" is such an amazingly bad name for a film that defending it almost completely invalidates the rest of your points..

Haha no worries man, It's ok to disagree, I just don't think Edge Of Tomorrow is a good title either.

I don't think anyone can defend Godzilla though surely, that was a steaming piece of shit.

Apart from when Godzilla himself was on screen, yes. That alone makes it better than the old 90's Godzilla film. Maybe with part 2 they will finally get it right.

  8. I've watched Edge Of Tomorrow 3 times already, it really is a great sci fi film imo. I think it bombed for a number of reasons, one was the marketing for it was rubbish and they changed the cool original title which was "All You Need Is Kill" that sounds far more intriguing, rather than Edge Of Tomorrow which sounds like a crappy dystopia teen movie. Then there was the thing of Tom Cruise recently being in Oblivion before, I bet people looked at it and thought Oblivion 2 or something silly like that. I thought Oblivion was an ok film, but Edge ah fuck it All You Need Is Kill is a better film. The dumb marketing team even changed the name again for the home release to Live Die Repeat Edge Of Tomorrow. Jesus people are getting paid for this, it's like they know full well they fucked up but keep digging a hole for themselves.

Emily Blunt is indeed nice, and I don't know why people called her anorexic in this, she looked more buffed out, like an athlete.

Sadly this film ended up like Dredd, but unlike that, you don't really need a sequel, even though with a time travel story you could easily do one, Chest or anyone that hasn't seen it yet should definitely check it out.

I also agree with Chest, in that Pacific Rim was fun and totally shits on the likes of Transformers. So glad we are getting Pacific Rim 2.

  9. I’ll admit, I pissed myself at “Fuck you, with your 48 percent body fat, and you, you scrawny bastard”  I’ll watch that bit again, definitely.  But even as the most staunch Arnie fan I struggle to find anything positive to say about this.

No redeeming qualities whatsoever, and believe me, that hurts to say.

It really was the saving grace of the film, it was certainly a lol moment for me too, and most people I bet. The rest of the film was piss poor though, shame really as I've pretty much liked all of Arnies 3rd era comeback films. I can only hope he put in a shit film to get it out of his system, because Terminator Genisys is going to be great, I'm not expecting T2 levels, but something that will erase (haha I know) Salvation, and have the series go off on a better note.

I watched Expendables 3 finally, I thought it was good, but probably the worst of the 3. The movie fails in the middle where they are introducing the new era guys, the whole idea of these films was for them to be a throw back to the good old days. So trying to appeal to the younger age, seems odd, I only vaguely follow MMA so only knew who Rousey was, if the rest even do MMA anyway. The start and end were great though and it was cool to see Snipes kicking ass again on the big screen. If they make Expendables 4, hopefully the new guys are killed off in the opening scene to be replaced by Jackie Chan, Michael Jai White, Chow Yun-fat and Mark Dacascos.

I also watched China O'Brien and Tiger Claws. Even though O'Brien seems to be the cult favourite, I much preferred Tiger Claws. Thought it had more and better action and it's got Bolo playing a nutter consumed by the tiger claw style, without him it probably would have been crap.

  10. Enjoy fella.  Seriously, if you're more familiar with her American stuff action wise, it's like night and day, you're in for a treat.

It's been too long for me to remember, so I think I will watch 2 of her American movies before I watch the ones you mentioned. Always best to start with the crap first, I do that mostly with Horror movies as each sequel tends to get worse and worse. I know what you mean about certain directors getting more out of people, I always thought Tsui Hark got more out of Van Damme, Double Team and especially Knock Off are guilty pleasures of mine.

I'm watching In the Line of Duty 4 this week!

Ha, I recently put that on my list to watch after seeing it on hkfilm, sounds like it could be fun.

It should be law that people watch the original cut of Aliens before the extended edition. It's a completely different movie without the extra footage. I do love the extra stuff, but if eel if you watch that first, a lot of the mystery goes.

Have you or any of you movie buffs ever heard of a scene that was never on any of these editions? It was a scene near the end where Ripley was going after Newt, on her way sure bumps into Burke who is all cocooned up with a Xeno about to burst out of him, he ask her to kill him, but she just carries on. I guess they did this scene as haha serves you right. However researching this a few years ago now, it seems this scene is only on workprint versions of Aliens, I did come across a site at the time that were selling workprints of old movies, but I remember it was quite expensive, they also had a crappy screen shot of the scene in question.

Of course I should have just gone to youtube first, it's there in all it's VHS quality glory.

I guess we don't really need the scene as we knew Burke was fucked anyway, I just found it interesting how Aliens has so much stuff they had to leave out originally, and it was all good stuff. As said, one of the best movies ever.

  11. Not only is it my fav X-men film, I put it above Avengers. The action and story are far better imo. It was pretty much a soft reboot, and it did a great job, and those end credits, holy shit. It's pretty much the X-men film any fan could dream for. Quicksliver and that scene, well he just shut all the haters up, that's one of the best scenes in any superhero film, it reminded me of how good Nightcrawlers scene in X2 was. Very much looking forward to the next X-men film.

  12. The Walking Dead's popularity must just be down to zombies and tenure. There has to be a gap for a good comic about zombies, though.

When it first came out yeah, plus it was still well written back then. I stopped reading walking dead at around issue 100. It became like how some of you said. The comic pretty much peaked at the The Governor arc. I have a feeling the TV show will be the same, when people see that same old pattern LaGoosh mentioned of meeting new groups etc, repeat, repeat. Just got boring to me, and I knew long time characters would just be killed off.

I think any zombie comic is better off being a really good mini series that you can read over again, rather than the on going mess TWD has turned into.

  13. Sony were recently asked about other Spidermen appearing in the films, and they basically said hell no. It will be Peter Parker and that's it.

If they own Spiderman franchise characters, that's quite a few - Spiderman, Ben Reilly/Scarlet Spider, Venom, Carnage, both Green Goblins, Hobgoblin, Cardiac, Doc Ock and the Superior Spiderman storyline (which I fucking love), Shocker, The Spider-Slayer, The Scorpion, etc.

The more low-profile ones they can just work on to make a bigger deal, but there's more than enough there to make a few movies with, provided they make enough good movies to build up some goodwill with.

So knowing that, it seems like most of the ones you named won't be used, even if they do hold the rights. You can honestly see a standalone film of Shocker and Scorpion? I admit I don't read the comics and most of what I know comes from the old 90s animated show, but I think you'd be really reaching to make a standalone movie out of them, plus where would the interest be? The only one that works for me is Venom, as he is basically a bad version of Spiderman. I just don't think you can pull off what Marvel did, as each of their hero characters have a bunch of heel characters to play off in their own mini standalone universe, before you get to the big crossover bad like Thanos.

  14. I was under the impression that this wasn't going to happen - have Sony negotiated something with Marvel/Disney?

What Daaaaaad! said. Although I can understand the confusion after the end credits in Spiderman2, had to kill my friends excitement when we watched it. Since the success of Avengers every studio is falling over themselves to make a shared universe. The problem with Sony is that they only own Spiderman franchise characters, so outside of Venom it's nearly impossible to do a standalone movie with anyone else. Which is why many people including myself are wondering just how they're going to pull off a Sinister Six movie, and wouldn't a crossover movie just be Spiderman 4 really? Theirs no big draw there to me like Avengers.

The only studio that has any hope of matching Disney is Fox, since they own X men and F4 which gives them a massive range of characters and spin off movies to make. I just remembered DC/Wb as well, but they have way too many characters for one studio to output films in time, it already takes them 3 years to make one or two it seems.

Marvel will never sell any of it's characters again, so Punisher will never be with Sony. I think we will eventually see a Punisher tv series on Netflix.

I have to agree with Bellend, that new Gotham series looks shit. I really hate that DC/Wb want everything in the DC universe based around Nolan's imprint. It only works for those 3 films not the whole universe, plus why do I want teen versions of iconic characters? Batman and Catwoman knew each other when they were kids? Just sounds like bollocks. It's simply using the disguise of being Batman, when it's really just a crappy cop show, with kids.

  15. So I watched Amazing Spiderman 2. It was a let down, I like the first more. I think the problem was the characters felt like they were in different movies. Garfield/DeHaan felt like they were from a Dark Knight tone movie, they were very good. Foxx felt like a cartoon character, even though the movie was long, it was like massive strokes in character change for him each time he appeared. The Rhino was awful, he was like something out of Batman and Robin. Last time I checked, Amazing Spiderman 2 was doing worse than Spiderman 3 on RT, that can't be what Sony were hoping for. I don't think it's as bad as that, theirs some good in there, but I think Sony have got the wrong idea about going about making a shared universe. Make a good movie first, just don't use it as a setup for other films. I still don't see how a sinister six movie can work. What will the bad guys be doing? Where will Spiderman be while they're causing havoc?

Shame really, as the trailers were great and after the first I thought this would be the next step up. It could be the bar for comic movie has been raised and you can't get away with so-so movies anymore.

  16. The only plus in that Hercules film, other than Adkins, was the god of war type weapons he got and the fighting he did with them. I was in the mood for it after watching 300: Rise of an Empire, but what a massive nose dive in quality it was, not even TV level, and I don't mean special effects, the acting and everything else was just off. I know The Rock won't let me down as much. Yeah I heard Adkins went for that role, fair play to him for giving it a shot. He could still find himself in some kind of superhero/villain role, or maybe he is in star wars

  17. I heard it wasn't as good as the first, but not as bad as you've just put it. Reminds me of what happened to the Ong Bak series.

I watched Scott Adkins latest film Ninja: Shadow of a Tear. It's the kind of film you would rent from you local in the 80s or early 90s on VHS. Simple, but entertaining.

Adkins has done ok for himself, became a fan after I saw him in Undisputed. He is actually from the West Midlands, I went to the same college as him, although he would have been long gone before I went there. I guess it's cool to see someone local do so well. Don't know what he was thinking about being in that The Legend of Hercules though, fucking hell that is one awful film. I had to go watch some of the old Kevin Sorbo stuff just to burn that movie out my head.

  18. This is 100% a rushed attempt to catch up with Marvel there's no doubt about it but I don't blame them, the Justice League are just as good (better IMO) than the Avengers and there's probably only a few years left before the comic book movie bubble bursts so they might as well capitalise on the popularity while they can. I can't believe how negative everyone seems to be about every decision DC have made about these movies.

It's because their track record is shit. Outside of Batman/Superman their efforts have been awful. Even within those franchise there are some right stinkers. Batman was dead as a movie franchise till Nolan showed up and Superman was in production hell for years. Now comics are the big earners in Hollywood they have no choice but to do a cash grab, no real thought is going into this like how Marvel planned out their universe, It's just lets throw so and so in there and make some money while we can. I'm not a fan of MOS, great action but nothing else, haven't even watched it twice. Every time I think about watching it, I think naa fuck that, same with Green Lantern which I'm a big fan of the comics. So yeah, I can understand the negativity about both films.

  19. Lack of any hint of Sting was disappointing, especially for that Sting fan in the front row. I thought something like this was going to happen;

    e9byj5.gif

Astro's probably right, he might just have a HOF deal, still at least that means a DVD/Blu Ray on the way perhaps. Other than that RAW was good. From what little I've seen, I like Stephanie more than TripleH in their new roles, her sarcastic yes chants are brilliant.

  20. If you guys are into point and click games, I recommend checking out "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream".

That does look very interesting, thanks for pointing it out, I've added it to my wish list.

Great voice acting in it though, all kinds of regional accents represented!

Yes, the voice acting is great, probably even puts a lot of modern games to shame. I guess point and click games are very story driven, so it would be crap if you had 4 hours or so of bad voices.
