Is there too much AEW now? I know people will say "don't watch it, then", but it's only naturally going to dilute the Dynamite show.

I have been feeling this way. Rampage is generally skippable (apart from the Hook matches) but I didn’t think I’d be pick and choosing what to watch from the company when I think back to points where I was even watching ‘Road to’ videos on their YouTube.

I think the ending of AEW’s greatest story and the excitement of the new arrivals now becoming part of the weekly furniture has let a bit of the air out of the balloon too but I’m confident it’ll only be a matter of time before they hit their stride again.

  2. I listened to his podcast with Trump Jr (I know, I know) and from what I remember when Trump was shitting over free health care, Jericho did mention how the service in Canada was great for injuries or something with a relative quick fix but not if you have cancer.

Obviously Chris didn’t mention how you needed astronomical $$$ for the top US treatment but on the surface, his basic opinion wasn’t that ‘socialised medicine’ is bad.

    Get well soon Chris.

Nah it's sort of WWE's fault. The relentless barrage of shitty things they have done has broken me so I have far less tolerance for wrestling scum. I know full well a lot of stuff I consume and enjoy is crap but I just draw the line after a certain point. Being a Dad to a young Women puts shitty behaviour towards women front and centre in my mind.

Plus it's my perogative to spend my money how I wish and supporting something that genuinely bothers me and legit hurts many women is not how I want to spend it. AEW can get my money back any time they actually prove they give a shit about that sort of behaviour.

It's the same as I don't buy Roman Polanksi films anymore. The idea of giving him money boils my piss. Yes he's a great filmmaker but that means very little to me as he's also a child rapist.

Fair play. I was probably being a bit rash with my comment this morning regarding picking and choosing values and I think I just jumped to the comment about your daughter being upset by you choosing not to attend a show which felt quite heavy to me (I’m a Dad to a daughter myself) when we all almost have to turn a blind eye to so many travesties that our way of life is built on to function.

I appreciate that a wresting company which you enjoy is not an essential though so if your enjoyment or support has gone then that’s entirely fair.

The thing that really hurts me personally though is having to tell my daughter that we won't be going to see them live when they eventually make it over. She will be devastated.

There were some valid points but I’ll assume you’ll also be throwing out any technology, household items and clothing sourced by overseas exploitation to teach a proper lesson about ethics and doing the right thing as well. Have a day off.

  5. Lovely little show this week.

I’m in full agreement with Supremo’s post as despite being very much in to most of what AEW are doing right now, there have been weeks that I’ve been tempted to give Rampage a miss to not get burnt out.

If Rampage can stick with this light style of show with chance to show some little vignettes and give chance for things to breathe a bit more than fast-paced episodes of Dynamite do, we are on to a good thing.

As for this episode itself, this was the first time I’ve enjoyed Jack Evans in AEW. Fair play. Danielson and Nick Jackson has just made me even more excited to see more Danielson matches. Jade keeps impressing with what she does, I don’t know where this goes but she’s got a got proper star presence.

  6. I always seek out Finn’s big matches, largely just because I think he seems a really nice bloke.

Even with no real need to whinge about WWE creative any more now that there’s a good consistent alternative, the end of that match is still incredibly disappointing. I’m already looking forward to how they will manage to amusingly book themselves out of Reigns vs Brock.

Thoughts and prayers for Kross. Already floundering as the supposed tough guy badass. He’s got babyfaces and heels alike scripted to point out that he’s a big, shit disappointment, and then Samoa fucking Joe potentially comes in. Honestly, mate. Jack it in and go back to being a bouncer at Wetherspoons.

Still though. Ladder match at the pay per view! I laughed. Of course it’s a ladder match.

Joe in NXT is perfect. If managed right, it could be the type of schedule that actually gets us a prolonged Joe run.

Also, which talent are slagging off Kross and what is being said? I don’t find him all that bad but my interest since the last Takeover has fallen off a cliff so there’s obviously some sort of correlation. Seems odd for talent to be burying him in a ‘shoot’ style when the management must be so seemingly invested in him.

  8. Not a must see show last night but I do wonder how much that has to do with what is being prioritised whilst Dynamite’s nights are all over the place this month.

I was happy to see Ogogo not being completely forgotten about after Sunday. I’d like this to be the planting of the seeds for him to distance from QT as Marshall took the credit for the Ogogo’s punch which finished the tag match. The Factory have only just got started but Ogogo isn’t a natural fit.

It feels like they’ve got behind Jungle Boy properly now in the way which Darby became a huge focus. I hope it’s sustained beyond the title match.

  9. I thought Hangman may have cooled down since last year, especially since he and Matt Hardy had duelling chants with the smaller crowd at Revolution in March but I’m happy that I can put that idea to bed. He’s the man and has such a genuine connection to the crowd, it’s not based on flashy moves or cutting promos, he’s just likeable. I’m convinced again that he should be the one to beat Omega.

I felt a bit emotional seeing Eddie Kingston get that reaction. He must have felt like he has reached some real highs at points in AEW but a reaction like that just cements what he means to that promotion.

    Cody must be stopped.

I echo pretty much everything else that everyone has said.

  10. I’m very pleased that Welsh Labour kept most of the seats of the Senedd in North East Wales. I was very deflated to learn that my constituency went Conservative (by a few hundred votes) but for so much of the rest of the area to vote Labour despite voting Tory in the general election is heartening.

Mark Drakeford has had his critics, mostly from people that want to listen to the PM - and this election has been a ringing endorsement for devolution and Welsh Labour’s handling of the past year. If Drakeford can now make a case for additional devolved powers and try and steer away from being associated with what is basically a dead UK Labour Party - he might even begin to appease the most firm independence supporters somewhat.

  11. Outside of the Moxley/Kingston feud last year as well as when Omega when the AEW Championship in December - the TNT Championship easily feels like the more focused upon,  interesting and just all round more entertaining title scene.

Cody’s work with the Cena style open challenges. Brodie Lee ultimately giving us what many will consider the biggest night of his career with the title win and Darby just being Darby has created this really important title in less than 12 months.

Related to the above, I just wanted to comment on how Darby has really become the key player for AEW and is incredibly more watchable than the whole presentation of Kenny Omega at the moment. I’m an Omega fan but other than when he’s wresting, he’s not doing a lot for me now at all.

Anyway, you know when all of them WWE mid-carders bang on about how they want the IC title to be that workhorse belt and the belt they knew when they were growing up. The TNT championship has actually become that. This probably isn’t a unique opinion but there we go.

Just some people I've got on Facebook. I'm a memebr of Yes Cymru myself, but I'm getting annoyed with loads of people on my FB  just piping about England non stop being shite and why they hate them. Independence should be about us, not us being chippy about them next door.

That’s fair enough. It’s wanting to get away from a certain type of nationalism that’s made YC popular I believe. I’ve got no time for that shite and none of the members I know on the North Wales coast that I know identify with that and are more just in the camp of wanting Welsh politics to be decided in Wales and simply just feeling less British than they did 10 years ago.  That and the fact that half the people round here are English and xenophobia isn’t what it might be elsewhere.

I suppose that’s the issue with lumping together so many different communities and beliefs behind one cause.

At the moment I'm pretty embittered with the Independence movement to be honest. It's striking me as neoliberalism and exclusionist.

Just wondering where you are getting this from as it’s not so much what I have came across. I’m a member of Yes Cymru but have to  admit that I’ve had to have a Twitter cleanse of a lot of the main YC characters constant barrage of tweets but that was more due to not needing to see daily ramblings but ultimately still ultimately supporting the message.

  14. I think JR calling quick fun squash matches and reacting to quick segments would actually be the kind of thing he would thrive at compared to long, live shows full of storylines and styles of matches that don’t appeal to him. But that’s where the money is.

I’m glad to see NWA back. It lost me towards February of last year but I’d like to see Aldis and co have to carve out something that feels important. This time it feels like they really do have to make a bit of a splash to survive after losing all of their momentum.

What is the plan for this show? Do they have regularly scheduled tapings or should we just expect a limited run?

In the press announcement, Corgan laid this out as being a pilot series which he can use to potentially sell as a series. He admits that YouTube and Facebook cannot be viable long term.

Lagana has an interview with John Pollock which will uploaded to Post Wrestling later today but it has already been revealed that WWE have spoken with them.

If that goes further, it'd be an interesting attempt at encouraging fans to watch new network content that have no interest in 205 or NXT UK.

  16. I hope The New Day get drafted to Smackdown as if they end up on Raw, that'd really be a nail in the coffin of Kofi's credibility as the title reign would undoubtedly become a distant memory.

If Kofi is on Smackdown there is at least potential for a story for him to try and avenge his loss. An 8-10 minute loss with a near fall for Kofi before slotting him back  will at least give some closure to his time on top. His involvement this week made me long for Cena laughing off his losses as at least there some acknowledgment.

  17. I think there would have been value in a higher profile use of Kane.

Amongst the mid 2000 multiple title changes, Kane could have got his hands the Championship and been dominant throughout the rest of the year only to lose the title in the Armageddon cell match via protected means. This could have kept the Mania X7 title plans in place and elevated Kane to proper main event status in the meantime.

Amongst the invasion storyline, a Big Red Machine being manipulated by Heyman in to doing the Alliance's bidding with his hands on the Big Gold belt could have been a fun sight to see also.

Instead, I think Kane was already comfortably in to his 'fits up and down the card' role far too quickly. Obviously he wasn't Rock, Austin or Triple H but there was more to be done.

It starts with some utter knobber screaming how he wants "Blood & Guts", he likely ain't getting that on TNT.

Surely just a nod to Vince McMahon publicly saying that his product has graduated past blood and guts? I don't think AEW are including that to try and appear as a shinier CZW.

  19. I can't recall seeing anything regarding his visa but The Bucks did mention how they want him to be a part of AEW during an interview with Chris Van Vliet in the past couple of weeks. I suppose it's a case of when that can become a reality.

After recently talking about the main event scene for AEW, sure - they have a few names but that's probably the main thing that is lacking in terms of what they are going to offer right out of the gate. PAC would fill an excellent role - The Bastard is relatively fresh. His promo style, look and overall demeanour would be very welcome.

  20. Thanks!

As a casual NJPW over the last few years, I have to say I wanted a lot of other competitors to advance to the finals over Ibushi. I get that he has something really unique and quite a story with Kenny - but I hope his display in the final makes me see what I have been missing.
