  1. Thought the actual show as a spectacle was very good, having got a seat in the lower tier i could probably appreciate it more.

The Coffin Match was quite fun - the shot of Stevie boy being dragged into the casket was funny.

Joe Hendry vs Davey Boy - Hendrys entrance was the highlight by far of this, the actual match was just ok

Zero G Ladder Match - I thought this was very well booked obviously with Lionheart and Kenny Williams having a storyline with each other which meant the other 4 were just there as foils. Bit sad to see Gibson and Iestyn go out early. Andy Wild ain't half put some timber on since i last saw him live.

Ricochet vs Girvan - 1st time of seeing Girvan and he is just OK nothing special that I haven't seen from many a young prospect from the U.K. Ricochet on the other hand doesn't miss a beat. Good Match

Carmel vs Viper vs Kay Lee Ray - For me in the top 3 of best matches from the night, just as good as their clash last year.

Dudleys vs Polo Promotions -Hated this match, Polo Promotions got hardly any offence in and when they did Jackie Polo wins with a scoop slam on a chair (weak as piss), Bubba Ray saying lets make this a NO DQ match was silly (ain't every match in ICW no rules)?

Trent Seven vs Wolfgang - As someone stated above when Trent was on top of the cage and punched Wolfgang on the side where the table was silly on Trent's part - a finish you could see a mile off. OK Match.

8 Man tag - Really good match this - should have been the main event for the feel good ending.

Kurt Angle vs Joe Coffey - Very flat ending in my opinion. Angle seems to do his usual 10 Minute indie stuff now nothing blow away, Coffey i don't get the fascination with, he's just an entrance theme and nothing else.

  2. Yeah thought it was a bit sparse with only 3 rows of seating on the right and left hand sides of the front row. When i went down at half time, i couldn't believe how far away the balcony was but felt the sound from upstairs travelled better than usual plus i felt the above seats gave a much better appreciation of the action than downstairs.

But same here i think the Ballroom and the Ritz are great wrestling venues more so the Ritz as its has better sightlines than Camden. But glad they will be doing another 1 off show at Brixton next year .

  3. I went to the show yesterday, was a very good show but as i have said to a few people it felt more like an "occasion" than a "great show".

Never been to the Brixton Academy before but what a lovely bit of architecture very much along the lines of the Apollo in Manchester, looked like someones house and a big curtain had been opened up and there was a wrestling ring.

Onto the actual show - I thought the 2 out of 3 falls worked very well with Ciampa/Sabre Jr, very good to see something i have never seen in one of those matches for the very long first fall. I would certainly rank this number 3 out of their 3 matches but still very good but not the quality of their Manchester match.

Rampage vs Joe Coffey - very happy with the general result of this as not a big fan of Coffey who apart from his entrance theme i find massively overrated. But the Atlas tournament though a good idea at first, it has been a bit of a damp squib just due to the difficulty of the Group stage scoring.

6 woman tag - really good showcase of what everyone can do, but the resulting pin fall looked quite suspect with Laura Di Matteo having her right leg under the ropes whilst the count was being administered.

Pastor Vs Sebastian - Bit of a bad do with the knockout to Seb, some utter tossers chanting "one more time" after the incident proves once again that some wrestling fans are idiots. But good on Jim Smallman saying on the mic that this was an accident and not a setup.

British Strong Style vs Riots - Another good tag match, very surprised with the result as the Riots have only held the belts for around 4 months.

Chuck Mambo vs Paul Robinson - definitely much a time filler but good to see Robinson back.

The Origin vs FSU/Gallagher/Moser - Obviously the highlight of this was the Usual Gibson intro shenanigans, as much i wanted to see him come out with a big viking foghorn to do his spiel - the old school Jimmy Rave Bog Roll worked a treat. Just the small thing of Gibson pinning Jack Gallagher in his last UK match was great as these two have been constant rivals in the North West and be a shame we won't see anymore of there matches again. But really happy the Origin are sticking around and i can guess now all 4 can have a go at the main title.

Scurll/Haskins/End - Really good 3 way match which built brilliantly with Scurll taking out all the referees before Jimmy Havoc made his return (literally the roof blow off) and now sets up the Havoc/Scurll feud now. But before then I think we will be getting the Haskins/Scurll rematch at either Manchester or Camden before the big feud all kicks off.

Can see Haskins feuding now with all 4 of the origin members, hopefully ending up with Gibson as the last man to face him and then Gibson taking the title.

  4.

Noam Dar's English farewell (possibly turn into a match? Against Lionheart? Or Sha Samuels? Or Drew Galloway?)

Plenty has been said about PCW storylines and booking recently, but that line-up does look like it could make for a really good, fun show. Remember, it starts an hour earlier than usual (doors 4pm, show 5pm) due to Dar also having to get to another show in Ayr that same night.

Said Ayr show is Lionheart's promotion so I doubt he'll be down in Preston. Sha is an obvious possible opponent but I notice Kirby/Hayes have not had anything announced (unless Kirby is working Pro Wrestling Chaos or somewhere)

Looks a strong card which hopefully delivers.

Just had a look and Kirby isn't on elsewhere, so my thinking would be Sha beating up Dar then Kirby cashes in. But yeah looks like a great card on paper, just hoping it delivers.

  5. 100% agree with what Ben said, i like him have been going since near the start and even i think the storylines have been a bit wayward recently.

But since the move out to other towns away from Preston they have generally been cracking shows. Might come across as a sympathiser but ive not had a problem with Fludder - always willing to have a chat for a few minutes.

The DVD production fell down due to the chief editor leaving for other things and i know he was a huge huge part of the operation. But bit sad that the ordering has gone astray

  6. Any recommendations on pubs to visit in Leeds? Looking mainly at getting a good ale. Have looked online & have also been a few times. We're going to be heading to Northern Monk Brewery as our hotel is close by & sample a few.

You can't go far wrong with the pubs near the train station - Tapped, The Head Of Steam, Bundobust, Friends of Ham, Leeds Brewery Tap. Also Brewdog is nearby and Mr Foleys Ale House.

  7. I actually quite like the card as a showcase of what current PROGRESS is all about, but it is true that the quality of the storyline side of things has taken a dramatic downturn ever since they moved to monthly London shows (with added Manchester).  They had the storyline pacing down perfectly when they were running once every 2 months (they were absolutely the best in the UK at this type of thing), but since they've increased the schedule it's not quite what it was.

You'd think with more shows they'd have more time to tell the stories they want and build things really well, but it hasn't worked out like that.  With Brixton for instance, instead of things building across the year to peak here, it has really felt like they've all-of-a-sudden had to cram a shit load of story, angles and build into the last two Chapter shows (Manchester 2 weeks ago; Camden last weekend) to get where they needed to be, which resulted in two reeeeeaaaalllllyyy looooooonnng feeling shows, with about 9 different segments on each.

Still, the quality of the in-ring side of things continues to impress, and the increased schedule means they continue to sell twice as many tickets as they were before, so I guess it's just one of those things.

This is exactly the same as what has happened to PCW since the move to doing more shows elsewhere and trying to branch out to different areas, sure it all makes money but a lot of the storyline continuity goes to pot a bit. Hence why the Preston PCW shows have been hurt to a storyline effect and where the shows elsewhere have been fantastic because of the showcase style of things.

But onto the Progress Brixton show - there has been reason for the Atlas Final being Rampage vs Joe Coffey because of the 15 minute draw in a earlier round and i guess this can be the rematch to settle it. But as a whole the Atlas tourney has been good in places but sort of lack the direction regards the points and who needed what right until the last round of group matches.

ZSJ vs Ciampa is 1-1 and this is the rubber match - makes sense before they go off to pastures new.

End/Scurll/Haskins - End got screwed out of the belt, Haskins has beef from the Manchester match. I fully expect Jimmy Havoc to return at the end of the show to challenge the still champ Marty Scurll.

Riots/Brit Strong Style - Dunne/Seven are the new team on the up but maybe a few more shows before they got the title shot. If War Machine were available another match between the Riots/War Machine would have been brilliant to finish a trilogy.

Origin/FSU/Gallagher/Moser - All the 4 goodies have in one way or another been involved with the Origin/Faceless over the last year and this is the blow off to it all. As much as I hope the Origin stick together as they have been fantastic to watch over the last 12 months I can see them losing via a turn on someone like Nathan Cruz. As long as they leave Zack Gibson as Heel - he has been absolute money over the last few shows even just for comedy heel stuff.

Sebastian/Eaver - I am probably with everyone else on this, the whole explanation or lack of went down like a wet fart in church. Don't think anyone cares.

  8. Dave rayne and big t beat mason stark and craig sanders

Bubblegum beat jack baron and mark eastup

    T bone beat alex boylin

    Noam dar beat jimmy j

    Kenny williams beat phillip michael

    Lionheart beat jack garvin

    Chris ridgeway beat dave birch

Viper and lauren double pinned jennie b

Not bad for a free show - the 2 jacks, phil michael, jimmy j and mark eastup were the standouts from the academy guys.

The womens match and the opening tag though were particularly dreadful. But apart from that you can see potential in a lot of the guys from the academy

  9. Evening show:

Kenny williams won the 6 way scramble

Noam dar beat sha samuels by submission

    Viper beat saraya knight

    Lionheart beat jeff cobb

Team single beat the hooligans and the london riots in a 3 way match

    Dave mastiff beat jay white

Bubblegum beat el ligero to win the vacant pcw cruiserweight title

Team dave rayne (dave rayne, keith myatt, alex boylin, nordic warrior and danny hope) beat team jo rose (joey hayes, kirby, jimmy j, sammy smooth and 1 other)

So dave rayne now is the sole gm of pcw and turned heel in the process after the match.

Noam dar beat rampage brown in the main event by submission which was wrongly announced at the end as a draw by richard parker.

Overall match quality wise it was very good especially the tag title match and ligs/bubblegum just stuff like the dave rayne heel turn and team single not losing the straps didnt make sense.

    Probably a 7/10 show

  10. Lionheart beat Chris Ridgeway

BT Gunn beat Nathan Cruz - Good match

Davey Boy and Joe Hendry beat Stevie boy and Kay Lee Ray

Trent Seven beat Mikey Whiplash - Probably match of the night

    Jack Gallagher beat Zack Gibson

There was a tag match with 4 trainees from the Asylum school - only thing i know was the winning team was called "The Purge"

Wolfgang beat Noam Dar - A "Sign him up Regal Sign him up" chant was started aimed at William Regal who was in attendance.

The Black Label (Drew Galloway, Jack Jester and Bram) beat Grado, Damo, Joe Coffey.

After the match Damo put the beat down on Joe Coffey to sort of build up there title match on Sunday,

Got to agree was a very good show, 3 stand out matches - gibson/gallagher, seven/whiplash, bt gunn/cruz. Crowd was around 250/300, the upper balcony wasn't in use pretty much the set up HXC Wrestling used to have when they ran the Ritz.

  11. Out of the 3 york hall shows thought this was the weaker of the 3.

Ospreay/Dunne was by far the best match of the night and also zsj/shibata and marty/bailey.

Atmosphere was certainly a bit quiet during the sydal/damo match and the opening tag match which seemed to go on forever - mr moonsault and bruce the juice stuck out as just out of their depth.

Moose vs samuels was good fun, same with ishii vs bodom. But for 15 quid couldnt moan too much

  12. So results from last nights show:

The hooligans and alex boylin beat jimmy j, martin kirby and joey hayes.

    El ligero beat mike bailey

    Dave mastiff beat charlie garrett

The london riots and sammy smooth beat team single and bubblegum

    Dave Rayne beat Iestyn rees

    Drew galloway beat lionheart

Drew Galloway then won the 10 man gauntlet to face the champion at the guild hall show on the 25th june.

Noam dar beat Sha Samuels to provisionally win the title but joanna rose came out to say she didnt sanction the match as a title match so sha retains.

Overall an ok show with the bailey vs ligero and lionheart vs drew matches being the standouts.

The dar vs sha match was good till the overbooked toss of a finish and iestyn rees getting beat by dave rayne was head scratching seeing as they have been building iestyn.
