  1. There's also the very very brief "Kane the Undertaker".

I was under the impression that Kane the Undertaker was The Undertaker and that the Kane part of the name was dropped before he went on TV/PPV?

Might just be my memory playing tricks but I am sure I can remember PWI running a pic of the Undertaker just before he debuted on PPV under the Kane the Undertaker name.

  2. Is it true that Triple H once confessed to being bisexual on a WWF/E programme once?

That may have been King of the Ring 1998. I kind of remember the remark so this is off the top of my head so may be incorrect, but I believe they may have been talking about the spanish announce team, where Triple H replied "I am bi in a lot of things......what did I just say that?"

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Its beginning to come back to me - it was when he was still with Chyna - she had sat with the spanish accounce team & was talking in spanish - this led to the 'are you bi-lingual' question.

  3. Is it true that Triple H once confessed to being bisexual on a WWF/E programme once?

If I remember correctly he said something along those lines when he was doing some guest commentry on a match - I want to say it was a Rock match on a King of the Ring PPV but may be wrong.

I think he either mis-spoke or was trying to be funny more than anything else - I cant remember why but he was asked if he was bi-lingual & he replied with something to the effect of 'I am bi- a lot of things but lingual is not one of them' then paused & said something to the effect of 'I'm not sure if that came out right'.

  4. Need to give a bit of background for mine - I used to share a house in Leeds with an ex-workmate. At the time he was seeing a stunning blonde girl (who also worked with both of us). We all got on well when we lived together but eventually moved on. My housemate & his girlfriend bought a house together but eventually split up in a really nasty split. I kept in touch with her but lost touch with him. Some of the stories that came out after they split where pretty nasty & I was pretty glad that we had gone our seperate ways.

Anyway, a few months later the girlfiend ring me & we arrange to meet up for a few drinks, a meal etc.

I arranged to meet her in a pub in Leeds city centre. When I got there I took one look at here & realised that she was already pissed out of her head. (I found out later that she had been drinking all day & caned well over a bottle & 1/2 of wine on her own already). I had a drink & we set off for the meal. There where 3 steps on the way out of the pub - she was so pissed I had to literally carry her down these.

We go for the meal at a nearby Indian. It starts off ok - we ordered our food & drinks etc. Starters arrive & she starts tucking in & everything seems ok. She then suddenly goes silent & collapses in a heap on the floor and I have to get the staff to call for an ambulance.

We get to LGI where she comes round & starts going fucking mental & the nurses have to threaten her with security to get her to calm down. Even though she can barely stand or walk she decides she wants to go out for a cig. I go with her & as she is walking outside I realise she is going to keel over again, I go to catch her as she starts to fall only to end up elbowing her in the face as I am doing so & giving her a black eye.

We eventually leave hospital and make our way back into the city centre when she announces that we are meeting up with her ex as she wants us to all be friends again. She had not told the ex I was with her either - so when we both act suprised and not particularly overjoyed to see each other she goes fucking mental again.

At this point I decided enough was enough & fucked off home, leaving her in town with her ex.

Not just the worst date I have been on but also up there with the worst nights out I have ever had in my life.

  5. Gadge - yes, I read that about an hour after I'd posted - typical!!!

I doubt it will happen. They had a big fallout over airfare and talent bills from their last tour. The expenses were supposed to be shared over the two companies but Dragon Gate picked up the bill and ROH never paid them back.

I'd heard this too - from what I can gather Pearce was egging Silkin on to go for it, on the basis that he was going to get loads of U.S. guys over so ROH wouldn't need to use Japanese fly-ins like they had been.

I was under the impression that the heat/fallout from the last ROH tour in Japan was aimed more towards Dragongate rather than ROH. I am sure I have read somewhere there is massive heat between DG & NOAH over the expenses & promotion of ROHs last visit. Sure it was something to do with both NOAH & ROH claiming/thinking that DG had not lived upto their end of the deal when it came to promoting the tour at the time (which in some ways ties in with whats written above in the sense of ROH not paying them I guess).

  6. Watched Repo Men last night. Not sure what to make to it to be honest.

Definately not a great film. Jude Law's character (who you are supposed to feel sympathy for) is obnoxious. However there is a pretty strong fight scene towards then end (which borrows heavilly from Oldboy) and the twist at the end (which is somewhat sign-posted around 20 mins into the film) is at least different.

It killed a couple of hrs but I dont think I'll ever get the urge to watch it again.

  7. The Briscoes re-signing presumably shows they're still too small and generally not WWE suitable, whether they will just keep performing for ROH at the same level, or look to do something different, or become demoralised at this point is what we'll have to wait and see next. Hopefully signing a contract with ROH means they are committed to the cause at least.

What are the chances of the WWE not signing them being, at least partially, due to their injury record (at least where Mark Briscoes is concerned)? Wasnt part of the reason that Nigel Mcguiness ended up in TNA due to his concussion/injury history? Mark Briscoes injury history is pretty spectacular - topped off with the botched shooting star press to the floor a couple of years or so back.

  8. The Briscoes resigning is a bad thing to be honest. They've pretty much done everything there is to do in ROH, and short of splitting the team up they can only get staler surely?

I was a bit suprised by this. Their matches with the Kings of Wrestling have been pretty good but beyond that they have done much of interest in ROH for the past year or so. Hopefully this does not mean they will be getting the tag belts again either.

  9. Just finished watching Kickboxer.

Have had the dvd for a while and finally decided to stick it on. Very enjoyble , enjoyed the story and thought Jean Claude Van Damme was brilliant. Especially enjoyed his drunken dancing/fighting with Freddie Lee`s henchmen in the bar. Worth a look just for that lol.

By coincidence I watched Kickboxer yesterday as well. Way better than I remember it being. The druken dancing/clapping had me & my housemate close to tears. Genius scene.

Also watched the latest Universal Soldier as well. That film is about 100x times better than it has any right to be,

  10. Predators - I'll try & keep this spoiler free. Being a huge fan of the original I was excited & nervous in equal measures on how much this would succeed/fail. The original is pretty much deemed a classic by blokes of my age but I'm convinced that it's more because of the age we were when it was first seen (I was 10) as opposed to the film itself, which is still very good. I really enjoyed Predators, I was pretty much grinning throughout & there were a few nods to the original without it being shoved down your throat or too knowing 'wink wink'. The casting of Adrien Brody is fantastic, the whole cast play it completely straight where it would've been easy, given the premise & script to play it tongue in cheek & ruin the whole thing. There's little surprise & from the trailer it's pretty obvious what's going to happen but there's a few really good scenes, a couple of jumps & plenty of gore. Doubt it'll bear repeated viewings like the original but definitely worth checking out.

I saw this yesterday & totally agree with what you said. Its never going to be considered a classic film but I found it entertaining from beginning to end. I would probably describe it as 75% sequel and 25% remake rather than an outright sequel though as there are so many nods to the original.

  11. Hmmm, even so, it's still not right. You'd think they'd take one look at him and say "come back when you can tell us what the inside of a gym looks like".

Its gets better/stranger - upcoming shows apparently feature the following matches

    NOAH, 7/16 Odate Citizen Gymnasium

    1. KENTA vs. Alex Payne

    NOAH, 7/17 Hachinohe Nango Gymnasium

    2. Yoshihiro Takayama vs. Alex Payne

Think he might be taking a kicking or 2 over the next few weeks..................

  12. I read somewhere the other day that Alex Payne has gone to the NOAH dojo. This has to be a rib surely?

No, He has definately worked some shows for NOAH - I think he has even been in the ring against Marufuji (in a tag match though). I got the impression he was over there more as a student rather than NOAH bringing him as actual talent.

  13. I just watched the ROH video wire from 3 days ago and saw Brian Kendrick commenting on a recent match he had with Roderick Strong.

Is he just working with TNA without a contract? Or are TNA permitting some of their contracted workers to do ROH shows again?

If so, its good news for The Young Bucks, and for their fans. That rushed 8 man tag on Impact was effing useless.

I'm pretty sure ROH announced that the Motor City Machine Guns where also coming back at their last show so it looks like TNA have given the ok for workers to appear on ROH shows again. Assume its DVD taping only and not for TV though.
