  1. So. I watched the Rumble. That's noteworthy as it was the first WWE show I've watched in maybe 5 years?

    My thoughts:

    - quality of the wrestling is still sub-par

    - I hate seeing Cody in a WWE ring

    - Roman Reigns theme song is better than the old one

    - Nice to see Eli Drake doing well for himself

    - AJ styles is being wasted

    - Pat McAfee is awful

    - Delighted Mercedes Mone didn't turn up

  2. £200 lighter, but got mine (although had the added stress of having to buy British Airways wifi and do it on a flight).

This will be my 4th AEW PPV, after Double or Nothing 2019, Full Gear 2019 and Forbidden Door. Also, I've picked up some DEFY and Progress tickets for the day before. Hopefully RevPro too. Making a real weekend of it.

  3. I’m less concerned about whether is it sells out (I think it will), I’m more worried about the weather. August bank holiday weekend……ask the Reading Festival crowd, it’s guaranteed to piss it down.

  4. Great show. Worth the travel and ticket price as I was in the US anyway. That show flew by.....when it got to Mox/Tanahashi, I was convinced there was at least another match to follow. Crowd was electric all night, although a nasty fight in the crowd kicked off during the main event.

Ospreay / Cassidy was the highlight for me. But that show was amazing from top to bottom.

Ospreay, ZSJ, Shota Umino - all on the same flight back to London (just boarded), so not sticking around for Dynamite.

  5. @Slapnut tough one. How do the benefits compare? If the gap you are concerned about is £2k and, if you are a higher rate tax payer and get deducted 40% of everything you earn over £50k, then the difference is £100 per month in real terms.......so the value of pensions, health benefits and so forth could make a big difference. The smaller the gap, the more inclined I'd be to take the role with the best long term prospects and more interesting work. If you are not a higher rate tax payer, then the new offer doesn't seem compelling enough to give up the security you have in your current employment....that would be my view.

  7. This really makes me sad. It was ROH that got me back into wrestling in 2016 and I had an honorclub subscription all the way through 2019.

With the talent released, all the value is in the streaming service and library. AEW seems like the ideal suitor to buy it - the honorclub streaming platform is actually really good and I could see AEW using it......similarly the library is full of Elite, Danielson and Punk gems, plus All In, all of which the AEW fan base would love. If Tony Khan wants an easy route to an AEW streaming service, it seems like an obvious acquisition

Is there anything to the idea that it might be a bit of "well, shit, Sarah and Les and back in the office, I'll look bad if I don't do it"?

Maybe, but i hope not given that we have put zero pressure on anyone to return if they don't feel comfortable yet. The offer of pizza Mondays, beer Fridays may have had some bribery impact however.

Spoke to my Dr today who's signed me off work due to mental health. Initially for 2 weeks but will end up being longer.

I'm still applying for jobs outside teaching but no success as of yet. Looking at setting up a wee sideline too making custom wooden gifts. Want to try and keep myself busy while signed off.

Consider corporate L&D roles & trainer roles. I know one person who made that move and never looked back - better pay and work / life balance

    22 I'm assuming?

It's so weird seeing London. Sounds like my company might want us back in the office sometime next month (Government depending). Haven't been in since March last year or something.

Part of me misses it a little bit but I've really appreciated the better family time.

    Yes, bang on. 22 Bishopsgate.

We've similarly had a lot of people hesitant. Although one thing we've observed is that the more people return, the more people want to return. Not 5 days a week, maybe 2 or 3, but our employees are really enjoying having the opportunity to interact face to face and spend time with their colleagues. Seems we are a bunch of social butterflies.

Bit of a low floor ain't it? Seems like supervisor level at most.

Oh definitely...…nowhere near all the high flying financiers and hedge fund folks at the top. We're not even half way up, that's the crazy part - this building has 62 floors.

In November 2019 I was told that the company I work for has been brought out by another company and effectively we would all be losing our jobs and the time frame given was by the end of December 2020.

COVID happened and we were all working from home and the migration from the company I work for to the new company was delayed and I was informed in October 2020 that my role would be extended until April 2021.

In late January 2021, I was offered the chance to work for the new company until 31 December 2021 and was offered a pretty substantial monetary bonus as well as an additional year on my redundancy pay to stay on, I agreed to do so as it was pretty much a no brainer.

Today, I was informed that they would like to extend my role again till end of March 2022 this time with no additional bonuses being offered and my redundancy will be paid in April 2022.

I should be grateful, I know I should but, I have mentally be preparing myself to leave in December and now this. It really is not a straightforward decision. I have till Thursday to make a decision, time to do some thinking.

Tough situation. Unless you've been there a long time or the ordinary redundancy pay is being enhanced, redundancy pay really isn't that much, £544 per year served until you get over a certain age.

It's easier to find a job when you're in one, than when you're not, so perhaps think of this as an opportunity to find a new job before you are made redundant
