apt. for the day, but i have a question regarding the classic WWF Wrestlemania song...

why does the opening reference the Survivor Series?

Is the song named after a general love of wrestling rather than the PPV of the same name?

I am getting so tired of seeing his and Frank the fucking Clown's gobs on all these shows. I wish they'd fuck off.

Couldn’t agree more. Everton guy too.

Brock Lesnar guy is the absolute worst. Not one genuine reaction to anything he’s watching. You can actually see him looking for the camera then breaking out a chant when he realises he’ll be on screen. Everton guy might want to match his t-shirts to his chants occasionally too!

  3. Just watched Ali’s promo.

Seems like a missed opportunity to salvage some credibility by unmasking the members of Retribution now that we know their agenda.

Would have liked to have seen them target recent NXT call-ups with their initial attacks (while still wearing hoodies & balaclavas), superstars who Retribution members believe got called up at their expense.

You’re telling me WWE don’t know what venues their affiliates are running and when, and that it was just a coincidence?

Next you’ll be saying that the WOS relaunch definitely didn’t accelerate WWE’s plans in setting up NXT UK and that the timing on that was a coincidence, too…

I’m saying that they don’t give it as much consideration as previously implied.

ICW are not competition to WWE (or NXT:UK) and I don’t think WWE would deliberately run on the same night or seek to avoid potential clashes. I think it’s a non-issue.

WOS vs. NXT:UK is completely different & I totally agree with you there.

  5. You say that but ICW have been building for the future and haven’t necessarily been using the NXT:UK guys in their main storylines to minimise the impact of any clashes in scheduling.

Kenny Williams and Mark Coffey look set to challenge for the tag titles at some point but Wolfgang won’t necessarily join Bad Company to face OVE (if that eventually happens) and I can’t even remember Joe’s last match for ICW.

I’d also argue that it’s down to logistics, including availability of venues and most sensible order of touring, and not WWE choosing to deliberately run against ICW.

Io being a babyface is a little disappointing, although she hasn't changed things up too much. They do have a lot of developing heels like Candice and Dakota etc, as well as the 'old' NXT guard so it's been working pretty well up until now. Interesting to see Tegan as the next challenger. Not sure who will be after that.

Can’t help but think that Tegan Nox has jumped the queue here & Dakota Kai should be the one to challenge Io before resuming her feud with Nox then inevitably splitting with Raquel Gonzales, akin to Shawn Michaels & Diesel.

I’m sure they teased dissention during a recent tag match, even if it wasn’t highlighted by the commentary team, although Mauro was probably too busy trying to get his sh*t in.

I'd say Kross is still a heel but wants the title (as he should), Priest after his promo is heading or is a face, Balor seems like a tweener going after whoever he sets his sights on or goes after him.

    100% agree.

Bálor turned heel on Gargano but it got confusing when he was attacked by Imperium (heels) then had subsequent feuds with heels in Grimes and Priest. I would have said there was an argument for saying he was a face but then he challenged Keith Lee so I’m with The Cutting Edge on this one.

I’d also argue that Bálor (as 2nd longest reigning NXT Champion) is the more natural feud for Adam Cole and I would have had Priest take the North American Championship from Keith Lee before Lee is fast-tracked to the main roster.

Re: call-ups, I think it’s only Lee & Undisputed Era at this point. I bet they’re dying to replay Lee vs. Dijakovic too. Gargano’s a lifer and would get lost on the main roster. Ciampa’s got every chance of making it though but I think he needs to complete his storyline arc by reclaiming Goldie first.

And Velveteen Dream is f*cked at this point!

The fact WWE have about 50,000 performers under contract but are using recognisable faces as the 'crowd' at the moment, so that you keep seeing the likes of Chelsea Green & Malcolm Bivens - both recently introduced as heel characters on NXT - whooping & cheering for the babyfaces on Raw.

And Robert Stone, who they could easily have had there in character, scouting potential clients.

Pretty sure I saw Butcher & The Blade cheering Jungle Boy over MJF at Double or Nothing too!

There’s plenty moves that need lessened across shows . Super kicks are a big feature of the bucks, so should I be lessened in other matches In the show so theirs mean more. Add suicide dives and the 467 moonsaults each show and the ones that do hit stand out more

Agreed. Given the amount of repetition, I get the impression that workers aren’t watching each others’ matches on a monitor in the back.

Jumped on the band wagon and made a Wrestling Pub Quiz if anyone's interested. Feel free to give it a go yourself or zoom with your mates, the top score I've heard someone get is 29 so far.

Thanks for sharing. That was a fun way to kill half an hour, even if I did only manage 24!

  11. Wrestlers springboarding into an RKO (or Sweet Chin Music) when they’ve never previously used a move that involved springboarding. Punk just about got away with it at ‘Mania that year because he uses a springboard clothesline.

Selling a single finisher LIKE DEATH when it’s hit during a promo segment, rather than within the context of an actual match.

  12. The most refreshing thing for me was that neither Rollins not Steph had any influence over the outcome of the main event. More clean finishes please.

Sacha also appears to have developed a worrying habit of rushing moves during big matches, resulting in some untidy looking exchanges. It was noticeable at 'Mania, where she could be forgiven for letting nerves get the better of her, but there were also further examples at Battleground (a dodgy looking 'rana being one) and again last night (that tope).

  13. Anyone do the ROH/PCW shows last year? Fancy getting the train down for this years edition but would welcome advice/feedback before booking anything.

If you're travelling from Scotland, it's cheaper to get the Megabus.

I usually stay at Premier Inn but have left it too late to get a cheap room so I'm still searching for a hotel at the moment.

Other than that, get your tickets booked!
