  1. The problem they've created is that because The Rock has turned it on so much he's made everyone realise what a proper superstar looks like.

I actually really like Cody and Roman, but they don't compare to The Rock when he's on it like he has been since they pivoted. He's a megastar and it's shown the current crop up.

He'll be back for the next few weeks and the crowd's will be mental again.

Obviously if Rock had never got involved then the crowd would be well up for the Cody/Roman stuff, but to get a taste of Rock in the form he's in to then go back to these just doesn't compare.

It's a shame, as obviously it's been thr story and Cody is great, as is Roman, and when Rocks gone again after WrestleMania they'll be carrying it again, and after a few weeks the magic will be back, but its had a massive affect now.

I'd just like to weigh in and say that I absolutely do think Jimmy vs Jey is a singles match worthy of a WrestleMania card. Even if it were still a one nighter.

They're a genuine top 5 all time WWE tag team IMO, legit twin brothers facing off for the first time in a singles match off the back of a months-long simmering feud, as part of a years-long overarching storyline (around which the entire company has been built, basically). It's unquestionably worthy of any WrestleMania card, for me.

It is, 100%, however they definitely need to heat it up a bit. All of what you said is true, but we're 3 weeks out and it doesn't feel that big at all. They've hardly interacted in months and it's only the last couple weeks anything has happened. Its cold at the minute if you watch the weekly shows.

This is where it benefits just watching the PPVs, WWE are so good with the video packages it'll feel like the biggest match ever, which it should, but watching week to week it doesn't.

  3. The Moana line at the end was great, proper wanker heel delivery of it as well.

The Rock is so fucking good man, it just shows when he's up for it he's on another level and always has been.

Agree that Rock v Cody is the match now like, they're going to have to go some way to make Reigns not look like an afterthought, which ro be fair I'm sure they will once Heyman gets going etc, it's just a shame Rock isn't going to be around much again soon.

  4. The whole thing really has been building to Gable beating Gunther. Its felt like one of them old fashioned WrestleMania stories that started in November ish last year, Gable was chasing Gunther, lost in the first instance but kept going.

The whole build up to the match on RAW with Gables promos etc, it all pointed and made sense to him being the one to challenge and finally beat Gunther after all his work.

Sami has only just entered the story so I can completely understand why those watching week in week out aren't behind Sami in this instance, it shouldn't be his match.

  5. Very minor RAW spoiler below, put it in tags just in case

    Spoiler

They showed a promo from Punk last night after running an ad for the game, just thanking fans for wanting him to be in the game etc, so clearly was just a bit of quick promotion tied in with it.

So can call off the hounds he hasn't gone mad yet.

  6. To be fair its one of those decent sleeper PPVs between Rumble and Mania that will end up being pretty good.

It's basically a set up show for WrestleMania and the sort of card/show I envisioned us getting more of when the Network first started as like a network special.

The fact its in a stadium though is mental, like they know it'll sell out anyway, but seems mad. Saying that it will make the atmosphere a lot better than this card being in the US.

It is what it is, it's not meant to be a super show or anything, jjst something to keep us going and build some angles/matches for WrestleMania. I imagine it'll deliver above expectations based on the card, but below based on it being a stadium show.

I'm hoping Danielson has a super respectful match against Akiyama, and shakes his hand afterwards. Obviously while ghosting Kingston in the process.

He'll be foaming at the mouth.

Let's hope so or FTR will be fuming

  8. Must admit my first thought was the same as the "pervs on social media" as you put it as I've never heard of him, but what you've said there about Kingston makes sense. Hopefully they address that before the match and explain it so people like me can get more into it/understand why its happening.

I must admit, I've been a big critic in relation to matches for the sake of matches in AEW and too much happening on their social media channels that if you only watch the TV you just don't see, but they have been a lot better recently. It's still not perfect, let's be honest nothing in life is, but I'm a lot more invested now than I have been for months.

I don't want much more than they're giving, I just want to see more of the 30 second promos on TV rather than just the socials (which they have been doing) and just more of an explanation as to why something is happening. I understand I'm not the intended audience, never watched Japanese wrestling, no nothing about it or the CMLL guys etc, but give me a bit of story and I'm fine with it.

Like I say it's a lot better so this isn't an anti AEW post at all, and like I say what you said makes perfect sense why the match Is happening, so either way I know now, but they need ro hammer it home on TV. They probably will but I'm just saying it as a general point.

So the biggest heel at the minute is someone working heel in the main event of Wrestlemania, and somehow that's a bad thing?

Didn't say it was a bad thing, but what I mean is if ever there's an example of someone that so obviously isn't a heel, playing a heel, then that's the one. And let's be honest, the reason people hate him isn't because he's now playing a heel on TV.

Builds into my wider point mind, heels in pro wrestling still work but it's different heat because we know they're not really wankers. Well, most of them.

  10. The art of the conventional heel of the old days is long dead, I mean based on this forum the biggest heel going at the minute is the bloody Rock.

I think now kayfabe is long long dead, people just want to enjoy wrestling, and having a good heel helps with that but they don't really hate them.

People hate heels because they're heels I think a lot of the time these days. Like the Dom Mysterio stuff, you can see when people are booing them they're smiling ear to ear, it's part of rhe act, its fun.

The closest we get is probably Logan Paul currently, but even he has his fans, when he hands out a bottle of prime people are loving it.

Bucks are doing some good stuff in AEW currently, nut they note hated hated.

Your main heels are where there's just no reaction because they're shit, see Baron Corbin, but most of the time we all know it's part of the act and you just go along with it.

  11. Wish FTR would just fuck off, a real blight on Collision for me, been enjoying AEW a lot recently but these two marks do my head in. Cash should be prosecuted soon I imagine so they'll dissappear then thankfully.

Let's hope Mox and Claudio remember to shake their hands after their match otherwise there'll be plenty more tears

  12. If I didn't know better and Triple H's heart wasn't fucked, then I'd swear after that opening segment we're getting one more round of Rock v Triple H at WrestleMania

  13. It was just one scene and obviously there's loads of story to tell, but Roman looked like an absolute chump last night.

Rock stepping up to defend the family and him, Rock giving all the smack talk, looking much bigger than Roman etc. Then at the end when they walked off together you've got Rock strutting through and Roman trailling behind him.

Romans been presented as an absolute megastar since he came back and went heel, last night he just looked like Rocks little brother, the real star has turned up now and that aura was gone.

Like I say it was just one night, hopefully over the next few weeks he still comes across well, but if he keeps being together with Rock he comes across inferior, if they were against each other it would be different but together, Romans just the lackey for the big man

  14. Going to be a lot clearer tonight what WrestleMania is looking like. Pretty huge press conference this and the Internet will go mental regardless.

Rock signed off a comment earlier as "the long gamer" fuelling speculation they might move the match to WrestleMania 41. Can't see that happening mind as it seems pretty set Rock is at 40.

There's clearly been some sort of pivot as mentioned above, Cody saying he has "made his decision" when he's already said to Roman last week that he isn't coming for him at WrestleMania, which makes me think he probably is now and they've changed it up a bit.

Roman wrestling both nights seems to be being mentioned alot.

We'll see, will certainly be newsworthy and it'll hopefully be on the network so can watch it in the morning.

  15. If anyone can save it, it's Cody. He's got the connection with the crowd and has delivered several epic promos since coming back.

Now they've done this, the key now is how Cody explains it on RAW going forward, him and Seth need promos knocking it out the park for the next few weeks and you might just be about be able to salvage Cody and get that feel good moment at WrestleMania when he wins the belt on night 1. I trust Cody can deliver.

Worst thing to happen now is for Seth to end up not being fit in time, Codys story is really fucked then if he ends up in some weird match for a vacant belt.

Rock vs Roman is massive though, intenet forum geeks like us might cry about it, but as was seen in the arena last night, they're up for this. It'll get huge mainstream attention, the crowd reactions for Rock will be off the charts leading up to it. Wrestlemania night itself might be slightly different as we know the type of crowd's that go to that, but you're kidding yourself if you think it's not a big match and no one wants it.

  16. Bruce is meant to be recording with Conrad tomorrow, as has been said doubt he'll say much as they "don't discuss current stuff" but may be a slight soundbite.

Bischoffs talked about it a fair bit, both were just saying how sickening it is etc, both he and Conrad didn't come across too bad to be fair.

Always listen to Jarretts on my Saturday morning walk so will see what he has to say tomorrow, can't imagine Jarrett going much further than Bischoff.

  17. Poor fucker.

There'll be his haters revelling in this obviously, and we know who they'll be when they get here, but the fact he was probably going to win the World Title and main event night one of Wrestlemania it is a shame.

I would imagine this promotes the Women to main event night 1, probably Rhea vs Lynch.

Fuck knows what happens with Rollins now, maybe they do pivot to Gunther, can't see much more of an interesting World Title match

  18. Punk could find the cure for cancer and still be criticised by some for it.

It's crazy what a polarising bloke he is, but to the extreme.

People that don't like him will hate everything he does and analyse it to the extent that even good things he does are bad and he's a horrible person, even making out he's a sex pest ffs.

Then on the other side of the coin you have people who love him and everything he does is the best thing ever with pure intentions and he's the best bloke alive. Crying for weeks on end when he returns, and probably even more when he does something nice.

The actual truth, as often in these cases with the bloke is somewhere in thr middle, despite everything he says he clearly wants to be liked, and he does do some good stuff. Cora wil be made up with that regardless of why he did it.

The gift cards are a little odd but goes back to wanting to be liked and those that received them I'm sure really appreciated them.

  19. First time I've properly noticed the low crowd's taking away from the show this week.

Joe's promo segment at the start literally felt like I was back in TNA at the sound stage, it was just obvious when the crowd reacted there wasn't many people there. They were also so quiet during most the matches.

It was a decent enough show, not as good as the last few weeks but good, but the crowd thing is definitely an issue now.
