You would pick my D2D when Boro don't have any fit centre backs! :sneaky:

You would pick my D2D when Boro don't have any fit centre backs! :sneaky:

Well to be fair, I probably picked this fixture way back in the summer, or at least a few months ago as I can't remember exactly, so it has nothing to do with the injury or suspension situation at the club concerned. That said, if I picked a tough week for Boro then great, as it keeps things interesting at the bottom of the table (which was up before midnight on Saturday by the way - amazing what a guilt trip over the lateness of the past 2 weeks, plus fear that laptop/connection will die imminently and avoiding assignments will do to you).

The plan worked perfectly, as Middlesbrough failed to win at Falmer and 14 of the other 19 participants this round disagreed and claimed 2 bonus points each. More importantly, Espanacas had the requisite stinker and was lowest scorer, meaning tom cuts the gap to 15 points. Still quite a deficit to overcome in the last 5 weeks (or 6 or 7 - haven't decided, but there's at least one bumper round in there) but it's not beyond the realms of imagination to see it happening. At the other end of the standings, snowman dave retakes the lead as one of three joint top scorers, but there's very little movement elsewhere despite another fairly high-scoring round. The Whole Show slips a few spots by not playing, and hbk4life leapfrogs TildeGuy, but apart from that it's as you were as everyone has settled down to their respective placings.

With an unusual 7 EPL 3 o'clock kick-offs, there was one left off because it seemed a foregone conclusion. In fact, Man City failed to win at home for the first time in ages, so perhaps that should've been included. Another match with an apparently obvious outcome was QPR-Arsenal, which proved a total dud as nobody foresaw an away win. Same goes for Mainz's shock stuffing of Bremen at the Weserstadion, but elsewhere in Germany most rightly went for an away victory in the Bavarian derby.

Closer to home a majority of players also correctly thought Reading would win the top-of-the-table tussle in the other Championship fixture and that Villa would succumb at home to Chelsea. Both those produced 2-4 scorelines though, so no three-pointers were forthcoming. More standard results in the clashes at Goodison, Craven Cottage and the DW proved fruitful for at least one-pointers and in some cases exact scores, while Wolves' collapse at home to Bolton in the relegation battle didn't catch too many by surprise.

Right, I think we're all done and dusted in record time then. Next week's card begins with games as early as 2pm on Friday as it's Easter, so I'll try to have the new thread started before lunchtime on Tuesday, but before then I've got a plane to catch back to merry old England. Oh, and this season's final D2D will among the set of 20 too. It involves an ex-champ who's now in mid-table, but the chosen fixture is sure to make things interesting...
