He's have had a much greater chance of succeeding in Sumo if he was just entering the profession now. It wasn't at all open to foreign Rikishi until recent years. I'm sure that Akebono's success would have played a big part in breaking down the barriers.

It's always horrible to hear of anyone suffering from Cancer, especially at an age like John's, please consider donating to a cancer research charity, it won't bring John back, but may help the stars of today avoid such tragedy.

RIP John Tenta. In my opinion, Quake was the best big men to have graced the squared circle. He had the immense size but used it brilliantly and had the charisma to put across the heel side of Quake. His battle with cancer was a long but determined one and I really do feel for his family. I have experienced the disease a number of times within my own family and friends so know how painful it is.Thank you John for the memories.

When I was a chubby lad Tenta was my inspiration. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't have broke somebodies ribs, and just let some fucker disrespect me and put me down. I was protecting myself, so I flung him to the ground and just sat on him. RIP John Tenta.EDIT: My English isn't too good today.

RIPEarthquake was one of my favourites when I was a nipper because he had the same birthday as me. I found that out from one of the sticker albums I had when I was at Junior School. I have fond memories.
