Alright?

The Jock. The Brain. The Hustler. The Princess. The Fashionista. The Nerd. Bayside’s iconic six vowed to be friends forever. It wasn’t even true backstage.

So Excited, So Scared delves into the full history of the show and its players, from its unlikely creation and unlikelier success, to what happened when the cameras stopped rolling. Was it a hormonal, dating free-for-all behind the scenes, and was Dustin Diamond really the despised outsider of legend?

The centrepiece of Millard’s unauthorised trip back to Bayside is a comprehensive, show-by-show breakdown of all 86 episodes. Relive the sociopathic scams of Zack Morris, the story of history’s greatest romantic coupling, and memorable guest faces like Maxwell Nerdstrom, Jeff Hunter, and Rod “call me Rod” Belding, plus the scattershot continuity of Malibu Sands and Tori Scott; which evolves into full-on quantum theory; in the most complete take on SBTB ever put to print.

With no stone unturned, revisit every classic moment; such as Jessie’s freak-out, the rise and fall of Zack Attack, and No Hope with Dope; and discover how a day-glo, nineties teen sitcom become one of the most culturally influential shows of the last thirty years, changing the entire landscape of entertainment along the way.

This is a book no Tigers-cheering, chair-straddling Saved by the Bell fan can live without, so c’mon, Preppy; don’t be an A.C. Hater.

So I wrote a book about a 90's teen sitcom. A fucking massive one. Some of you may have generously helped kickstart it back into life last year. Well, it's out on March 16th, but available for pre-order now, so I'm here to spam it in Classifieds like a prick.

For a taster of the kind of thing you can expect, I put the first sample chapter up today, dealing with SBTB's weird gender issues when Slater takes up cooking. All 86 episodes are covered in excruciating detail, plus lengthy sections on the history of the show, and what happened next, as well as a bonus chapter on the dreadful Lifetime TV movie.

You can pre-order it from Amazon here, and it'll automatically download to your device of choice on release day. And if you've not got a Kindle, Amazon's free app for phones, tablets and computers is here.

Oh man, I got ridiculously excited for this book the moment I found out about it a week or so ago. If I knew there was a kickstarter I would have helped big time.

It's a perfect idea and I will definitely read and watch as I go.

I really think this has potential to really get big, and I genuinely think it will what with the subject and it being a brilliant idea.

I hope you don't mind answering questions? (If you're planning some sort of thing or if you want to wait til the book, no worries.)

How did this idea come about? Was the idea of doing a book like this always something you wanted to do, and Saved By The Bell just fit that? Or was there a spark after watching an episode and then seeing what the show represented and everything that put you all in?

Nah, questions are fine. I've always been a bit obsessed with SBTB, because it's so embedded in popular culture, and has so many points of reference that most people will instantly recognise. The spark was my laughing about the Rod Belding episode for the millionth time, and realising how much mileage there is in the whole show, and that nobody had really picked it apart before. On a whim, I stuck the box set on my Amazon wishlist and blogged/tweeted that if someone bought it for me, I'd write the book. Incredibly, somebody did, and nine months of my life just vanished into the void.

There was a couple of movies. Hawaiian style and Wedding In Las Vegas. Which one is the "dreadful" one?

EDIT: Scratch that. You were talking about the unauthorized story. Not seen that yet. I think I will avoid it!

I honestly can't wait for this. I say that, but I'm not going to read any of the sample chapters. Gonna wait for the full shebang!

Pre ordered.

It would probably be worth your time tweeting April Richardson about this at some point. She hosted a podcast with a load of comedians detailing each episode of SBTB and is a massive fan. She also seems to be a champion of DIY stuff (she used to run fanzines and shit). plus lived in the UK for parts of her youth. Also hopefully she'd retweet that shit and get you a shit ton of eyes on your work.
