I had no idea that...

A thread for all those little discoveries that, however unremarkable, took you completely by surprise.

Mrs Matrix was watching a fair bit of Big Bang Theory during pregnancy it seems, because whenever it comes on, which lets face it on E4, is permanently, junior drops whatever he's in the middle of and is glued to the screen during the theme music.  It's fucking adoreable.

Anyway, in watching it, I've become particularly fond of Mayim Bialik and so I was staggered to discover that she was in fact Blossom, from early 90's sitcom Blossom, and played the young Bette Midler in Beaches.

It's wonderful isn't it, Colonel?
I never gave it a chance until - funnily enough - Emily was born, and then it was my comfort through all the late nights (missus had a section and went post-natal so I was mammy/daddy/maddy 24/7).

It's up there with Friends in the 'screen saver for the mind' territory.

Nice to see David and Darlene from Roseanne share screen time too, wasn't it?

Jackie from Roseanne pops up too.

Theres an episode where Sheldon draws up a list of famous couples which Amy and himself should dress up as. On the list is Blossom and Joey! Mayim Bialik who plays Amy is a legit neuroscientist!

Agree about how great the show is. We never watched it until we had our third Child in May. Since bought all the DVDs and along with E4 repeats is the comfort viewing of choice. Baby stops what he's doing when the theme comes on and my eldest loves it and is now a walking Big Bang Theory Encyclopaedia.

At first I only checked out TBBT back in 2007 during its first season because I knew Kaley Cuoco was in it (she always had a place in my celebrity babes wank list) but when you watch it properly you realise it's a cracking comedy. It didn't take my long to pick up the blu-ray set. Another reason why this show works well is because all of the characters are likeable.

The Big Bang Theory is the shittest show on TV. I can't even leave it on in the background it gets on me wick so much. And it's not because I think it's a geek minstrel show or anything arsey like that; it's just a stupid, smug programme.

It's shite, lads.

And millions of viewers disagree with you.

At least the process of rolling them into one would kill them and ensure no more episodes of the atrocity. I don't know why I'm so fervently in favour of everyone who is in it being killed, nor why I'd extend that to anyone who has ever watched and liked it too. It doesn't harm my life at all, and fair play to them for giving people what they want. I must be bitter that I haven't got a hit s(h)itcom on the air.

TBBT is just Fraiser for stupid people.

Modern Family is even worse, if you ignore Sofia Vegara's tooters

Funny as fuck seeing people call certain TV shows "shite" and "stupid" on a wrestling forum. I know we are big fans of wrestling but the majority of people would say that prime time shows like Raw and Smackdown are the shittest of them all.
