WXW - Carat Gold 2015 - 06-08 March 2015

Recommended Posts

Just booked my flights and hotel for the weekend. Got some good deals.

Have had a word with few others who go to the Progress & ENDVR shows and looks like a few of us are headed to Oberhausen next year

Just need to get tickets. Notice the 3 day front row pass has gone on sale but no other tickets. Would rather get Standing tickets or non front row tickets.

Will be interesting to see who takes part next year.

Anyone else going?

I'll probably be looking at going to the event next year. The 2013 weekend was one of my favourite wrestling weekends and missing out on it this year really sucked. Hotels tend to fill up pretty quickly so it'll be a quick decision from me on whether I'm returning.

Standing tickets are the way to go with wXw, much prefer that atmosphere to being seated as that felt like being slightly detached from the action for some reason when I did it at a previous Westside show.

Yeah i've heard that Standing is the best way to go.

I would have booked standing tickets if they were on sale, but I have been told that they usually go on sale a couple of months before the show.

While expedia were having one of their sales, I thought it was a good time to book hotels.

Having not been before, I have heard that the cost of transfer between Weeze and Oberhausen can be costly.

I´d prefer standing over front row..Wrestlers are usually thrown into the front row area (sometimes without any warning), which can be dangerous for any person with a camera  - don´t want to buy a new one;)

Well, no names yet..Expect a mix between US Indy guys and European wrestlers - wXw never delivers bad wrestlers at Carat as they want to establish it as THE tournament in Europe..

I´m holdin out for a HERO..Damn, I´d even watch that guy wrestle a towel over and over again. He is in the UK just before the IPW:UK/wXw events December 6th.So he might show up and him in Carat is always welcome (though he might not win again)

Me is goin to almost every Oberhausen show possible - when I am not tourin the UK ;)

So just inbox me if you have any questions regarding wXw (or Germany) or talk to me in person ..

Front row/second row tickets are the only ones to be sold out in advance, standing will be available on the door.No (Oberhausen) show has ever been sold as I believe there is quite a lot standing tickets..

Will be at RevPro´s Uprising (possibly the Sunday event too) and SWE´s 4th anniv show :)

Thank's for the advise Ric, I had heard that a few of the wrestlers on the WxW shows end up in the Front Row.

Out of curiosity, What's the best way of getting from Dusseldorf Weeze to Oberhausen? Also how much are the standing tickets?

I did notice that the crowds usually around the 400-500 mark for the Carat 8 Tournament.

Will be at the SWE 4th Anniversary show so may catch up with you then.

It's defo easier flying into Dussledorf than Weeze , done both and wouldn't do Weeze again if I could avoid it.

I'm pretty sure I'll be going :)

Also know a fair bit of who is booked ( many being in England week before )  sure you will all be happy :D

Definitely better to fly to Dusseldorf.Single ticket from airport railway station to Oberhausen costs 5.30 euro and takes 15 minutes.Standing is best as wrestlers are often thrown into seats and lots of action outside the ring.Just back from World Triangle League.Worth every penny!

Hey, Carbs!

Duesseldorf-Weeze (pls don´t call it Dusseldorf as "Dussel" is another word for fool/idiot - you might get in trouble for that;) is far away from Duesseldorf, avoid it if possible. It´s literally in the middle of nowhere! People always believe Weeze is close (even locals), but it isnt.I guess some low-cost-carriers (Germanwings, Easyjet) do operate the real Duesseldorf airport.Well, I know - haha!:D

15 Min? I believe it´s a bit more than 20, but it ain´t very far..Standing is (if you buy a 3 day ticket) app. 70€.You will defo save some money in a three day ticket, so better buy that.Though not on sale yet.Never sell out, don´t you worry.500+ people showin up.400 would be a disaster

See you at 4th anniv.Got a front row seat - never been to a SWE show before, so it may not be hard to find me;)

There is a hostel nearby - Hostel in Veritas. They have their own HP, WAY cheaper than Union or B&B!:) I paid 29€/day single room (continental breakfast is 5.90€), hard to find a cheaper offer. The Union has got a nice brunch buffet sat and sun (but regular hotel prices). So bookin HInVeritas without food (and joining the Union for breakfast and lunch at 11.50€) is the best advice I have got for ya

Thanks for all the advice may re-book my flights to Dusseldorf's Main airport or hire a car and drive down to Oberhausen. The flight's I got to Weeze were dirt cheap.

Have also sorted the hotel which is less than 15 mins walk to the venue but thanks for the advice on that too.

If the card's anything like it has been in the past i'm sure it will be a treat.

Haha, you´re welcome!;) Are you sure about the car? Public transportation is cheap and reliable (more or less) Though I have absolutely no idea how to get to Oberhausen from Weeze Airport.I guess a new flight might not be necessary if you find a quick and cheap way from Weeze to Oberhausen.Don´t know where the next train/bus station is located, but better check twice before booking new flights:)

wXw always delivers, fact..It is so cool to have Europe´s biggest wrestling market so close to Germany.Guess wXw will more or less book some guys already over from the States and Japan. If Walter retains the belt until Carat, a fresh heel might win.Karsten Beck would be one though he already got a title shot of his choice. We´ll see what happens (and what title he wants to battle for)

I have no idea if Hero´s as big in the UK as he is in (Oberhausen) Germany. But him in action is always welcome..His momma is German, though he does not speak the language (afaik)

I was looking the other day and it looks like 45 minutes drive from Weeze to Oberhausen where we're staying whereas public transport takes about 2-2.5 hours including a bus and two trains on the best route.

Then again may be tempted to re-book a flight straight back from Dusseldorf international as the flight we booked originally is about 7 on the monday from Weeze. Looks pretty easy from Dusseldorf International to Oberhausen.

If Chris Hero's appearing that will be a bonus, but am looking forward to seeing how the tournament develops.

Wouldn't mind seeing Badbones again either as I thought he was a pretty decent performer.

It might be interesting for you guys to learn that at the Triangle tournament there was something like a meeting between the wXw office guys and some fans (you might say it is something like a fan-union) and the office guys openly spoke about their thoughts to possibly make the big tournaments happen without any standing room or alternatively with only one side, the latter solution being already in place in Hamburg because of the venue. The main argument was that after a certain size they couldn't guarantee fans in the back row being able to see much. Considering how marvellous the matwork was at the Triangle tournament I can see their point.

Um, I believe there might be another reason: Seating is more expensive and they´ll make more money..Quite understandable as wXw is a profit org..

Just in case you did not know:

Ciampa vs Uhaa Carat qualification match December 6th...I hope to see Uhaa at next year´s tournament as I believe he has got sth to offer nobody else in wXw has got : decent power moves AND highflying skills..

Are ROH-wrestlers allowed to work any indy-show if they are not booked by ROH?

Go, Uhaa, go!:)

Uhaa is quality and was excellent on the Summer Dragon Gate UK shows.

I'll be happy with whoever qualifies both are decent workers.

Would be a shame if there was no standing in Oberhausen.

Any idea what the bar is like if the venue has one?
