Look at him, the poor sod.

Ex-England ace Paul Gascoigne was being treated in hospital today as he faces being made homeless following another drinking binge.

Paramedics and cops were called after the football legend was seen slumped outside his flat clutching a bottle of vodka.

He was in the process of being evicted by his landlord from the property where neighbours had recently complained of the noise.

As he was taken away from his £3million rented penthouse apartment in the exclusive Sandbanks area of Poole, Dorset, Gazza phoned a friend to say: “I am in trouble, please can you come and help me.”

He was being treated at Poole Hospital tonight.

A friend said: “It is very sad. But the reality is Paul has been drinking for the past few weeks and once that happens things will only end one way.

“Today things came to a head. He has had a lot on his plate as he is in the process of trying to find somewhere to live.

“His landlord had given him 10 days to get out of the flat and it was weighing on his mind. Obviously things became too much for him in the past couple of days and he has turned back to the bottle.”

On Tuesday morning Paul was seen in a WHSmith near his plush home, which has a balcony overlooking the ocean.

He appeared drunk and unsteady on his feet as he posed for pictures with pals.

Today a spokesman for the star confirmed he was aware of the incident at Gazza’s apartment.

A spokeswoman for South West Ambulance Service confirmed paramedics were called to attend to a patient in the area this afternoon.

The troubled retired former midfielder has been locked in a life-and-death struggle with booze for years.

His latest rehab stint was in January when he checked into a £6,000-a-month clinic in Southampton.

This was at least his seventh attempt to get professional help to quit alcohol.

Our pictures come after Gazza reportedly signed to play for Abbey Windows FC in Bournemouth’s Sunday football league - for a fee of just £8.

Gazza, who now lives in Dorset, could be turning out in Bournemouth’s Sunday league for Abbey Windows FC.

This is so fucking sad for me. He's level looked this bad. Its not looking good for him. Especially with the way this year is going.

Christ. That's awful. I'm sure I read something earlier today on the BBC Website about him signing up for a Sunday League side. Looking as he does in those pictures he'll be lucky to see Sunday nevermind anything else! It's so harrowing and a very harsh reminder about what drink can do to people. It appears there's just no way back for him. So so sad.

Yep. I assumed that was a current picture they were using.

Jesus. I actually laughed when I saw that first shot because I thought you'd posted a picture of some random, fucked-up looking old man to take the piss a bit. Goddamn. I think in the Robin Williams thread when I said I wasn't massively shocked, someone said "what would shock you!?". Well, I find this bloody shocking. Different disease, similarly predictable trajectories, but the visual...  that is just awful to see how he's wasted away. He's honestly not looking much better than George Best in his death bed photo. Terrible.

there seems to be a rule of thumb with Gazza, that whenever there is a positive piece, such as him joining a Sunday League side, it usually means hes in a really bad way again, he looks far worse than the slurring drunk Gazza from the Evening with video that was doing the rounds

He just seems like someone who just couldn't move on from his career being over, his only interests seem to have been Football and Drinking/Drugs

Having read his second (excellent) book that talked about his struggles with heavy input from his therapist it's not surprising things always end up this way for the bloke. He has so many issues that go far beyond the drink from ocd to drugs to a variety of other mental health afflictions. If anything the football probably kept him right for a period in his life and now it's gone all his problems have just gotten worse and worse. Feel for the bloke and his family, nobody should end up looking like he does up there.

He looks like he's had a bit of (terrible) plastic surgery on his face there too.

He nearly won all by himself the Premier League title with Rangers in 1996. What a player.

In retrospect, signing for Rangers was probably a bad mistake. Would liked to have seen how Fergie at Man U would have handled him. Maybe this shit wouldn't happening. Sad to see.

So strange to hear that. Not a big footy fan myself but I'm a local boy who has friends/ inlaws who are friends with him.

Heard about the sunday league and assumed he was fine. Last I heard he wasn't living in a 3 mil place but a bedsit in Boscombe which is a low income area as he is often seen in a barber shop there and a few of the drinking haunts. Not sure if that was true and if so how he got back into Sandbanks.

Shouldn't live the in his state anyway as none of the arrogant rich fuckers give a shit about each other.

My brothers father in law did some youtube interview with him that had a lot of hits apparently. Sadly being in Vietnam a don't think I can honestly ask my sister in law for the latest scope till November when I'm back

Man utd wanted him when he went to spurs, not to rangers. I do wonder how his career would have been if he has went to united, he played at his best when Walter smith let him come to his house and feel wanted. Dunno if sir alex likes letting players that close.

Yeah, he'd probably have been dead if Fergie had got a hold of him. Walter Smith did some stuff that Sir Alex would never do in a million years. Definate father-son bond there supposedly.

The problem with Rangers was the Ally McCoist factor.

Will always remember him training at Wolves for a short period (Pre-Middlesborough possibly) and watching sadly as he stumbled down a road with old Five Bellies at 3 in the morning with horrendous 40 year old crack fueled-esque slappers hanging off their arms.

Not even DDP can rescue Gazza.

Bullshit like this has always been part of the problem.

Abbey’s manager Chris Foster, who works as a taxi driver, had Gascoigne as a fare and took him to the shops to buy cigarettes before seizing his chance.

"I gave him the cigarettes and pulled out the signing-on form at the same time. He signed it there and then," Foster told the Daily Echo.

Yeah well done mate, top banter. Buy him a pint while you're at it, and have him pose for a selfie with you while he's staggering about. Poor fucker hasn't been able to leave the house in 25 years without nob-ends buying him drinks and leeching off his aura to impress their mates.
