Jon Venables back in prison

Casey, you've lost this debate.

Best to just admit it and move on.

Yeah you're right - all my constant shooting down everyone elses long winded counter points in the space of one or two lines, boy is my face red! :D

Seriously though, I acknowledge the fact that this is an unwinnable argument - trying to make this bunch of prats understand the myriad fallacies of their standpoints is about as worthwhile as being a carer following a special needs person about with a plastic bag picking up the turds rolling down their trouser leg.

You're not too bright, are you Casey?

Given the fact I've given you two chances to counter my last point which you have still failed to do, I'd say my mental astuteness shouldn't be the one in question.

Nah, I don't think it's that. He's just dogmatic and stubborn as shit and HAS TO WIN. He speaks intelligently about other topics, training, bodybuilding, fitness etc, but if you fight him about anything he'll dig in about a stupid bloody point and throw out terrible insults mindlessly that only weaken his case. I mean seriously, remember what he was like about South Park? This is something that's actually important. It'll never end.

He's also delusional.

Ah, right you are. I thought for a minute somebody'd deleted all the posts in the thread where he'd countered anything properly and left only the ones containing smug but ultimately empty little phrases.

Carry on!

Ah, so now I'm attacked with contradictory arguements, semantics AND ad hominems now. Well I've wasted enough time here and its not worth any further wear on my X button, but before I dust my hands off...

Sorry, its in my nature.

Oh FFS!

Bye bye then Casey. You can retire from this thread safe in the knowledge that you've made yourself look like a bit of a tit.

I thought you'd do that. To be clear, I'm not talking about the actual argument, I'm just saying it was over something of very little importance, rather than any of the points themselves.

I know you've said you're leaving the thread, but let's face it, we all know you'll at least read this.

  • 5 weeks later...
One of the killers of toddler James Bulger has pleaded guilty to charges of downloading and distributing indecent images of children.

Jon Venables, 27, appeared by video-link at the Old Bailey and is expected to be sentenced later.

He and Robert Thompson were just 10 when they abducted and murdered two-year-old James in Bootle, Merseyside.

Both were released in 2001 with new identities, but Venables was recalled to prison in February.

Venables plead guilty to three offences under the 1978 Protection of Children Act.

The first involved downloading 57 indecent pictures of children on to his computer between February 2009 and February 2010.

The second involved distributing three indecent photographs of children in February 2010, while a third involved distributing 42 images in February 2008.

The court heard that the images were discovered after Venables called his probation officer fearing that his identity had been revealed.

When the officer arrived, Venables was trying to delete files from his computer and remove the hard drive, prosecutors said.

He was subsequently taken to a police station with the machine where it was examined by officers, they added.

Louis Mably, prosecuting, said eight of the images were at level four, the second most serious level of child pornography. Two were at level three, three were at level two, and 44 were at level one, the least serious, he added.

James Bulger's mother Denise Fergus was in court on Friday to hear Venables' plea.

The BBC's Dominic Casciani, who is at the Old Bailey, said Venables appeared via video-link from an unnamed prison somewhere in the country.

In normal circumstances, the press and public can see a defendant on a video-link screen, but because of the exceptional nature of the case Mr Justice Bean rejected a media application and ruled that he alone would see the defendant, our correspondent said.

That meant Court 14 was rearranged to place a video screen directly in front of the judge so that nobody else, not even the lawyers, could see Venables, he added.

Venables and Thompson abducted two-year-old James while he was shopping with his mother at the New Strand Shopping Centre in Bootle on 12 February 1993.

The toddler was beaten with bricks and iron bars and his body left on a railway line.

His killers were detained at Her Majesty's pleasure, the usual substitute for life imprisonment for juvenile offenders.

In 2001, when they turned 18, both were freed, despite public outcry.

Let's hope we see him going away for a very long time indeed.

The thing that strikes me about this article is this bit. I presume then that it's someone's job to go through all the pictures of sexually abused children on people's PC's, and essentially 'rate them' out of 5.....what a horrific job, that would seriously fuck you up.

He should have had "destroy hard disk" before "call probation officer" on his to-do list and none of this would have happened.

Bulger killer Venables jailed over child porn charges

One of the killers of James Bulger has been jailed for two years after admitting downloading and distributing indecent images of children.

Now 27, Jon Venables was 10 when he and Robert Thompson murdered the toddler in Bootle, Merseyside.

In a statement at the Old Bailey, Venables said he was "genuinely ashamed" of his latest offences.

But James' mother Denise Fergus said "justice had not been done".

Her spokesman said two years "was simply not enough to meet the gravity of what this person did".

Two Years?

Throw. Away. The. Fucking. Key.

He's got two years for this offense. (Without making a value judgment, and purely in the context of general sentencing and the specifics of his count, that is a relatively long sentence.)

However, once he's done that time, the system will decide whether or not to allow him out on licence again. If not, he'll be kept in on the original murder sentence.

I can't find it now but I read a piece the other day about the people who vet photos on some major upload site and apparantly few last more than six months or so.

Apparantly the UK system for the five levels is:

1) Nudity or erotic posing with no sexual activity

2) Sexual activity between children, or solo masturbation by a child

3) Non-penetrative sexual activity between adult(s) and child(ren)

4) Penetrative sexual activity between child(ren) and adult(s)

5) Sadism or bestiality

Level one has to have the child deliberately posed rather than just being a general snapshot.

a) This has got absolutely nothing to do with Denise Fergus whatsoever. Her opinion means no more than yours or mine.

b) The sentence seems commensurate with the gravity of the offence.
