Just Me
As mentioned previously I bought "Shadow of Memories" on PS2, yet to play it though. Me too. Â That's the worst thing about this list, that on a wrestling forum a Fire Pro didn't make it. Not exactly the most accessible series though, is it? Both in terms of availability in the UK, and getting to grips with the controls after years of Western wrestling games. Love it or not, I'm sure you can understand why it hasn't charted. Loki
I had Dues EX in @ No 13 on my list .. Great Game  Deus... it's Deus chaps.  Bomberman was a good call earlier, one of the most resilient game titles, it's still fun in every incarnation I've played. CracktonMoj
I just downloaded another SNES emulator purely so I could play Yoshi's Island again. Had to fiddle with settings, but it's totally worth it. I remember my mind being blown by the Fuzzies in 1994, and it's just happened again. Joy.
Paid Members JLM Posted July 9, 2009 Paid Members Share Posted July 9, 2009 Yeah the absence of Firepro was disappointing. Firepro Returns is my ultimate wrestling game. Just edges out VPW2 and No Mercy. Firepro D and Super Firepro Premium X are both excellent too. I also enjoyed the "Queens Special" joshi version, despite the weird visuals. Â Sorry johnnyboy, but I thought the CD-32 pad was awful. Uncomfortable to hold, unresponsive buttons and a horribly inaccurate d-pad. Plus it offended the eyes. Then again, the game I played most on it was "Dangerous Streets" and I think the quality of the pad might be irrelevant for a game as "special" as that. Â The lack of any Bomberman games in the 50 is pretty sad, but I saw votes for Bomberman 2, Mega Bomberman and also mine and Whinehouse's votes for Saturn Bomberman. If we had all plumped for the same game in the series then it would have made it. I thought SNES Bomberman 2 might have snuck in because it seems to be the most widely loved version. In 90% of its incarnations though, Bomberman is a multiplayer classic with few peers. Â The extremely straightforward controls made it accessible to non-gamers in a way that was perhaps ahead of its time. It takes about 30 seconds to grasp the principles of the game and get the simple "up, down, left, right, plant bomb" control scheme sorted. From there you can learn what all the power-ups do and play around on the weird stages with their quirky special features, but the fundamentals couldn't be more simple. Â Next time I go to see the parents I am soooo digging out my Saturn. Guardian Heroes and Saturn Bomberman. I can't wait.
Loki
I always imagined that owning a Saturn was a bit like owning a Jaguar - disappointment and a sense of unfulfilled promise. With the exception of a couple of titles, all the cool shit was happening at the same time on the Playstation. Â My fave version of Bomberman was the Neo-Geo one. That was the machine that all the rich kids had on import.

Paid Members tiger_rick Posted July 9, 2009 Paid Members Share Posted July 9, 2009 A kid down our street had a Neo Geo. I think I probably had my first orgasm the day I played that thing. unfortuantely, I wasn't allowed to hang around with him, me Mam banned me. He used to shoplift. Bye, bye Neo Geo. Loki
I wish. The cool kids had Neo Geos and then import SNESes. I had a Game Gear.
Paid Members JLM Posted July 9, 2009 Paid Members Share Posted July 9, 2009 (edited) They really didn't come cheap. I've always wanted a Neo Geo. I have the entire software library via emulators but it's not the same. It was just soooo expensive.  Neo Bomberman is pretty good. Saturn one is still the king for me.  The Saturn wasn't quite on Jaguar levels of failure, but the comparison is somewhat valid. Personally I got around it by having a PlayStation as well and eventually an N64. I was spoiled, please don't judge me.  But yeah, the "Handful" of good Saturn games is at least a c-cup compared to the Jaguar's pre-teen doesn't fill a sports bra affair.  Jaguar:  Tempest 2000 Wolfenstein Doom Alien vs Predator   Saturn:  Panzer Dragoon Saga Sega Rally Virtua Fighter 2 Virtua Cop Virtua Cop 2 Burning Rangers Guardian Heroes Night Warriors Panzer Dragoon Panzer Dragoon Zwei Saturn Bomberman Streetfighter Alpha Streetfighter Alpha 2 Streetfighter Collection X-Men: Children of the Atom X-Men vs Streetfighter King of Fighters 95 King of Fighters 96 King of Fighters 97 Fighters Megamix Fighting VIpers Last Bronx Metal Slug Worms Sonic R Sonic Jam Steep Slope Sliders Nights Die Hard Arcade Quake Duke Nukem 3D Radiant Silvergun Resident Evil Worldwide Soccer 97 Silhouette Mirage Super Puzzle Fighter 2 turbo Tempest 2000 Tomb Raider Virtual On  A good number more but I need to stop. I can see the parallells though, owning a Jag when your friends were on SNES or MD must have sucked pretty badly, and exclusively owning a Saturn when the PS releases kept pouring out must have sucked too. I wouldn't know though. Edited July 9, 2009 by JLM
Just Me
Neo Geo had the best edition of Road Rash, which I only got to play once in a games shop but later bought the same version on PC.

Paid Members JLM Posted July 9, 2009 Paid Members Share Posted July 9, 2009 Yeah, that was very tempting too. Made the games far more affordable. Â One day I'll own an arcade cabinet and be done with it. It's not that much more expensive than buying retro consoles and games, I just need the space for it. And somewhere to hide it in case, y'know, people come round. Unless I have it running Pacman 90% of the time and say it's some kind of retro chic item.
