ive given up on buying the 3 disc sets on release - for a start they usually end up unwatched or i watch the documentary an not the matches, and even buying 3 at a time from SV is still £16 - and if i wait a few months they are £7.99
ill still buy them all to keep the collection at 100% but im going to wait from now on.
im hoping they sell best of raw 2010 soon on sale as i have the bluray but what the dvd for collection purposes. i was gutted when i saw Highest Fliers at £8 after what, 3 months of release?

High Flyers was out just before Xmas as I was temtped to get it for then, but yeah I tend to wait now until I fancy that particular set or it's cheap with most unless it's something I really want because I just don't watch them straight away. There was a time when I'd buy most the 3-discers but now a lot seem to crossover which is understandable.

Well I can't say for sure yet, but I would imagine that given the nature of the DVD and the rest of the footage, it will be unedited, and in colour, unless you have a black and white telly? My god, I don't give a fuck how silly that sounds, because I'm not sure what you meant exactly by that question
The reason for asking about the Flair vs Luger match and whether it was shown unedited and in colour (and with the post-match promo intact) was because of a couple of things I have read recently in Power Slam. In issue 199 there was a question about the Chris Jericho DVD which included as part of the response: "
The entirely PG-rated WWE is now obligated to censor or tone down content... that now appears on new DVDs... so all current WWE-branded material falls within the PG-rated guidelines."
This was followed in issue 203 with the review of The True Story Of WrestleMania which included the quote: "
Footage of a bloody Steve Austin at WM XIII is shown in black and white. Why draw attention to the no-blood rule? Why not omit the footage entirely, if you can't screen it in its original form?"
After reading that and having not seen a 'blood' match on their DVD listings in a while, it just made me wonder what they had done to the Flair vs Luger match (which was quite a bloody match, even by Flair standards) to make it sensitive to the PG-rated guidelines. Although I suppose a few of the matches on the Cage match DVD could have the same question applied to them, it was the Flair vs Luger match that I was most looking forward to revisiting. Anyone received their copy yet?

Ah, right. Well, I haven't received mine yet, but if i do come across anything like that on their DVD's from now on, then I wont be buying them, because that is fucking ridiculous. Especially considering that a lot of these soon to be released titles carry at least a 15 rating, and if the Cage match DVD is cut this way, then it will be completely spoiled, for me anyway, as the vast majority of the matches on this DVD alone all feature blood.
They've been making great DVD sets for a number of years now, and I was wondering how long it would take for them to start fucking them up.

If you order on the website now though you get the John Cena headband and wristband set with the bluray. Will that be included for those buying on Thursday as that seems to be a thing only they do, the dog tag thing was done for the DVD in America so for all i know it could be standard here too. With the dog tags it does say they are limited and while stocks last but it says nothing like that for the headband and the wristbands with the bluray.

I was thinking of getting a copy for a family member but i'm not sure what to do now. I know in April they were selling the DVD versions at house shows with a signed John Cena card and they never seen it but i did and i know if they had seen it they would have wanted it and this is a cheap price tomorrow. It's for a young person so i can't buy one something and not get the rest anything or it seems like favourtism. I suppose i could put it away for Christmas but it's not the same is it, sometimes it's nice to give a gift but i know myself it's gonna look unfair towards my nephews. I'm sure at 9.59am tomorrow i'll have made my mind up.

about the cena set - silvervision had limited editions for the dvd and bluray, and as far as i gather the bluray limited set sold out, but they have much more dvd versions. the dogtag set isnt the standard set for the uk.
really gutted on the prices - its stopped me from buying wwe dvds on release because they have so many deals and sales - and they wonder why they arent selling.
do people remember years ago when wrestling dvds were never on sale? if you didnt buy 3 at once to get 10% off, you would be looking at £15 for dvds and £12 for videos. it was so rare for cheap deals. now they sell them so cheap, i feel no dvd is worth £18 or bluray £20 odd from them when if i wait they will be half price or even less.
back on deals..
got the cm punk dvd from cex through the door yesterday, very happy for £2.50 a great dvd packed with 4 hours of matches and highlights. although its matches from FIP it also has an excellent IWA-MS career retrospective and 2 ROH matches too.

You seem genuinely disappointed that they are lower in price than they used to be.
I can understand that if they are selling things cheap now that you previously bought at full price, but the way you worded it makes it seem like you were fondly remembering the time where there were no special offers.
One thing with a few people on here, but most often you Stingerslash, is the fixation on buying DVDs on pre-order or immediately after they are released. I don't understand what the rush is to own a ppv that it can't wait 6 months?
Not having a go, just curious what the rush is?

You know what its like being a collector/geek/smark. Plus when you pre-order off Silvervision they typically send out the pre-orders a few days before when they say they will. Also they release there products much sooner than the time the retailers will sell them
so i did order the cena bluray in the end and while i was at it picked up royal rumble 08 for just £6.99, plus yesterday i picked up forever hardcore for £1.50 in cex and royal rumble 09 and the bash 09 in grainger games for £5 each brand new. gives me plenty to watch over the weekend and beyond

Haven't seen Powerful Families
But Rise and Fall of WCW isn't that great if you want a good documentay as most of the interviews are archive footage from Monday Night Wars and NWO Back in Black. The rest of the documentary is biased towards WWE and avoids discussing what WCW did well. Not a great Documentary but the bonus matches are very good

Aug 6 2011, 19:59
I thought the families DVD was quite good, and woth the £6.99 or whatever it is that SilverVision want for it. Of course the main families discussed are the Mcmahons, the Harts, and the Von Erichs, so if you already have Hart and Soul, Triumph and Tragedy and Mcmahon, then you won't be seeing anything new, not because the same footage is used, but because those DVD's use new footage, but they go into much more detail as you would imagine.
The WCW DVD is as good as what is out there right now, outside of the Book by Reynolds and Alvarez. There's some good segments with the Crocketts and Mike Graham also, but for guys on it like Kevin Sullivan, they could've used more of the footage of whatever interviews they did with those guys in production of the DVD, because as it is, Sullivan only has a handful of lines and he was behind the scenes for years in that company. It's always going to be the same old story on these DVD's, of WWE re-writing history, so you can't expect anything else. It's definately worth the £10 which SilverVision want for it, though.
