The GTA and RDR MP is pretty generic though isn't it?
(not including Free Roam in RDR)Doesn't mean it's any less fun though does it?
My point is, not including any type of MP is surely a silly thing to do.
Which is what made it stand out from the norm. I very, very rarely played any gang matches. Mainly because I didn't find them fun (or at least as fun as free roam is). So a generic gang style MP in LA Noire is bound to be equally dull and therefore not necessary.

For you maybe, but there are millions of people who regularly play gang/death matches online in both GTA and RDR.
Generic they may be, but they are still fun. The fact that the GTA MP rooms are still full of people playing Deathmatches proves theres still a want for it.

Agreed, but GTA & RDR are both gang style shoot em up games. LA Noire is a detective game. Team deathmatch would be a pointless addition and wouldn't fit in.

I don't think it would be too far off the mark. It's a detective/cop game so I would imagine there will be lots of shooting action within it... Deathmatch style shootouts wouldn't be hugely out of place. Besides, It wouldn't have to be all Deathmatch... I should imagine RockStar will have other MP modes up their sleeves.
I really can't see this game being released without any MP modes. It's just not how RockStar do things is it?

SPEED TANK, motherfuckers!
The latest awesomely addictive Indie Game that I've been playing. This one is a competetive game, so you really need at least a couple of you to get the best out of it - passing back and forth trying to get the highest score.
The basic premise is that you are a tank, sidescrolling across a 4 lane road. The only buttons for most of the game are up and down. You have to avoid barriers, and collect medals.
Pretty simple shit, right? But the song is really fun, and the tank gets faster and faster with each medal that you collect, and the song speeds up with it.
With your basic Defensive game mode, you just keep going as it gets faster and faster, and the further you get and more medals you get the better score you get. You get three attempts to set a score, and it also gives you your total across the three rounds. My favourite game mode though, is "Turret Toss*". This one, you do the exact same thing, but at a time of your choosing, you press A to detonate your turret. You then get an angle thing come up, and you have to stop it at a good angle. The aim is to launch your turret as far as you can. Obviously, the faster the tank is going at that point, the more momentum the turret has and the further it goes.
The beauty of this game mode over the other is that you have to make the choice when to bail, whereas with defensive you just keep going til you die. It gets you in that mindset of "I can go a bit faster, just a couple more medals!". If you don't detonate before you crash, you get a foul of course. Again, you have 3 attempts.
Playing "HORSE" on this passing the pad on this was great fun. The pressure of order in which you play and everything... The number of triple fouls I got in an attempt to smash the record was annoying!
80 points well spent!
*This is only a 1 player game mode, but you can just pass the pad back and forth and it's exactly the same - you alternate in vs mode anyway.
Ok see if anyone can help me out here. I have a 360 at home and 1 at work. I take my 120g HDD to work and log in and continue playing there. Now the other day my work 360 died, (RROD) because its a Pre-owned 360 I can't return it and need to get a new 1. I went down to 1 of the local shopping centers and all the 360's are the new models, I asked the guy can I connect my HDD as I could not see a slot anywhere it could fit into, the guy had no idea. So is there a way I can fit it or do I have to buy a pre-owned 360 again?
You can't clip the old hard drives onto the slim unfortunately. Getting a data transfer cable or transferring your old data onto the new drive using a USB device might be a better plan than repeatedly buying pre-owned consoles and waiting for them to die though.

The data transfer cable will delete the data on me 120G HDD tho will it not? I used to use both 360's with the 1 HDD as it was easy to pick up a game and the HDD and take it to work. I used to just make a quick save of my game on my walkmen to do this with me PS3's but some games wont let you save the game on a portable device. (StreetFighter for example) So I got another 360 as it seemed easier to do.
QUOTE
Again the problem is I want to use my HDD for both home and work use. Can I log my username onto another new 360 console so I dont have to pay for gold and all the other add on packs and games I have already paid for? Then just use a flash USB device to take the save like I did with my PS3 on a 360?
Thanks for the help JLM BTW.
You can recover the tag onto a new console and move your saves over yeah. You'll need to do some digital rights transfer shenanigans to get some DLC and most XBLA games to work.

So what's everyone's opinion on MvC3?.
Personally I think it's slightly worse than MvC2, not by much though. The new button system took a while getting used to and I'm still not keen, and the online is absolutely shocking. Like when SFIV came out and everyone used Ken, in this case everyone uses Dante, Ryu or Sentinel and just camps on the far side of the screen spamming projectiles. Sadly, unlike in SFIV where you could learn a pattern and find a gap to infiltrate, it only takes a press of the Y button in this to use a projectile so there is literally no open space to get into. It's really killing the online. On the subject of online, they've stupidly taken out the spectator option in lobbies, so now you have to sit and watch the health bars in the corner instead of the actual fight. Seems pointless.
On the other hand though the graphics are pretty top notch and despite there being a lack of characters (really odd omissions too like Megaman, Zangief and a load of others from MvC2), the new ones they've put in are for the most part really good. Arthur is ace, and I actually prefer Trish to Dante, even though at first I scoffed and wondered why they bothered with someone so trivial.
Offline matches are really good fun. I'm at a mate's house with 6 of us watching the Elimination Chamber on Sunday so I'll take it round there. I imagine it'll be quite good. I can't imagine this one lasting as long as MvC2 or SSFIV has, but it's worth the money.

I like MvC3 a lot more than MvC2. For all its fifty something characters there are only about 6 or 7 of any use! MvC3 has less characters but they are all good and much more evenly matched (apart from Cuntinel of course).

I got Dead Rising 2 through from lovefilm and its the most infuriating game ever. The game design is just so fucking lazy. I didn't realise the time bar for "Case 1-1" was actually the time for the ENTIRE case, not just the part I was on. So I went around saving some people first and now I haven't got enough time left to finish that rendering the main plotline "failed". I wasted all morning on this piece of shit and really don't know if I can be bothered to A) Start all over again or B) Keep trying to get back to safe room in time to continue the story. The core game is cool, but they seem intent on taking any fun out of it.

I'm playing on the PS3 and my experiences are a little different. On here, it seems everyone has to have Wolverine in their team and either Akuma or Ryu. So far I've won a grand total on 2 out of my 10 online matches. Usually I'd find that frustrating as hell but there's so many pretty visuals going on

I don't mind the shit literally being kicked out of me! I prefer it to MvC2, mainly because they've taken away alot of the useless characters and most people seem fairly even, (Wolverine aside, in my experiences so far) and of course yet another cheap arse final boss! Usually rocking the team of Deadpool, Haggar and Doctor Doom.
Oh and Deadpools moonwalk animation

DCvsMK is one of the most robotic game experiences ever, it in no way has anything on MvsC3 or 2 or the first really. I like the fact that it has destructable game environments and the Joker's good fun for a game or two, but after that its just dull, mechanical and a real let down.

Can't get my head round Blazblue at all, way too technical for my liking. The sequel that just came out was a massive ripoff too, nearly all the "new" characters were expensive DLC so what we got was practically just the first game again.

Gotta admit that the DLC characters took the piss (but that can be said for any fighting game now) but I knew what I was getting before I bought the game so I can't really complain.
As for DLC in general imo only a handfull of companies actually bring DLC out that is worth the price tag.

I ventured into ranked matches on MvC today and nearly every team I encountered featured a Dante, Hulk or Sentinel…or all three.
That does not bother me though; it’s the rage quitters that are the pain. In ranked matches I should be at 3 wins and 4 losses but due to people quitting at the last second I am 1-4 in ranked (I don’t know why it doesn’t give you a win if your opponent quits).
I think I’ll mainly stick to player matches as people seem more concerned about actually having fun games without getting funny over whether they win or lose to the point of quitting a game.
In online player matches I am getting more consistent with my wins rather than having a huge string of losses like I did when I first got the game, Now I am getting the hang of air combos and when to use specials and X factor I am seeing that I’ve upped my game. I’ve still got some work with the team air combos though, I can hit them but not as consistently as I’d like.
The team I am using mainly is Deadpool/Chun Li as my main with Felicia and Iron Man as my team mates. I’ve found that Felicia can really trouble an opponent if you just throw her in and go crazy on them if they have no idea how to deal with her attacks, and Iron Man’s specials have gotten me out of some tough spots and turned some matches around for me.
It’s sad that you cannot view other people’s fights in a lobby; I think it’s pretty inexcusable not to have this feature in the game on launch, even if they do add it via DLC later on. I also miss the replay feature of Street Fighter.
I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this game right now, When I’m in a match I find that the game is awesome but the rest of the game feels so empty and it’s lacking the polish that could have made the overall experience superb rather than just very good.

It'd be fun to do 'gief vs. Haggar, but there are a hundred other characters I'd have as DLC over Zangief, who has been in a million other games and would be very similar to Haggar anyway. I don't think there's any need for both of them in the same game. If he is DLC and I don't get Phoenix Wright I'll be pissed.

That's most likely because Zero was in TVC and was therefore more straightforward to implement. It's a shame, but Megaman is very likely to be DLC I reckon. Frank West as well, who was in and out of the game several times before finally getting cut.
Battle Suit Jill is pretty uninspired. I'd rather they went for the MVC2 Jill instead. I find i quite funny that they opted to make Shuma Gorath DLC as well. What an odd character to ask people to pay extra for. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Shuma (WASTE OF FLESH) and he's a bit of a series staple, but he's ultimately a very obscure character indeed.
MK vs. DC is rubbish.

SPEED TANK, motherfuckers!
The latest awesomely addictive Indie Game that I've been playing. This one is a competetive game, so you really need at least a couple of you to get the best out of it - passing back and forth trying to get the highest score.
----snip!----
Alright. Get on this shit people! I'm totally killing the global rankings and need a challenge!
I was away all weekend, but I'm all over this when I get home tonight.
Also, Hard Corps Uprising is tremendous. It's a tribute to Contra/Probotector made by Konami in collaboration with ARC System works. It's like Contra with a BlazBlue makeover and that's a winning combination for me.
Oh, and I spent most of yesterday on SSFIV Arcade Edition and got a nice win streak going with Yang. I hope we get a DLC announcement for this soon, but it'll have to wait until Marvel's been out for a while I guess.

Don't know if this has been mentioned previously but I've just come across a trailer for Dead Island. Best trailer for a game I've ever seen.

Playing the Sega Mega Drive Collection and in particular playing Streets Of Rage. Now I haven't played this in years, not since I originally had it for Mega Drive. But why is it still as hard as when I was a child?

My work comp has no sound and I couldn't find an iPhone compatable link, but I am still very aroused.

Anyone else not in the slightest bit interested about Gears Of War 3? I'm already fed up hearing about it, and the new trailer/screens/news about the multiplayer beta has only been out for a few days.

Gears of War are games I usually enjoy, but don't get excited about. GoW 2 was pretty pants if I'm honest. The MP took over a year to fix and the single player wasn't as exciting as number 1's.
