Dazz I will be up for joining a pro evo league or playing you in a few 1 on 1 games.
The novelty is starting to wear off fight night now for me. I have got Ghost Recon, Condemned and top spin. I cant wait for some of the new games like Rainbow 6 vegas, Madden 07, Pro evo 6, NBA 2K7 and Dead Rising.
YOUAREYOUAREIAMIAM
Is Ghost Recon good?

I got that too, oh might I add we didnt go for the £318 deal in the end.

We went to Toys R Us and got a new 32" HD LCD TV and Xbox 360 premium with Fifa World Cup 2006, Ghost Recon, Amped 3 and Kameo.

I did buy the Table Tennis though, biggrin.gif
Brainbuster~
Anyone up for some Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter Co-Op online?

Golden_eagle
Anyone up for a game of table tennis anytime tonight?
YOUAREYOUAREIAMIAM
I think I need one of those Wireless adapter thingys as my Xbox is about 15 feet away from my router.

Does anyone know where I can get one on the cheap?
Spatular
Official 360 WLAN adapter RRP is about £60.

Or, you need to find your local Maplins and get a 15ft RJ45 UTP cable for well under a tenner. Alternatively, use Expansys - but beware that they a) send everything Special Delivery, bringing the price up to about £6 and b) took so long a time (two weeks) to come up with a network cable for me on a recent order that I cancelled and got it elsewhere. Caveat emptor ("let the buyer beware").
Paul
DamienKahn is my XBox Live name, so if anyone wants to add me as a friend, I'm game. smile.gif

Currently got:

Chromehounds
Table Tennis
Call of Duty 2
Tomb Raider
Hitman: Blood Money
Condemned
Dead Or Alive 4
G.R.A.W (Ghost Reacon)
Halo 2 (XBox Classic)

Up for a game anytime.

Ahh yes, I'll need to add, there is walls in between, is there like extension things I can buy to make it longer?

Seriously consider drilling a hole through the walls/ceilings, if feasible. It's not that difficult and you probably know somebody who has the necessary equipment or can do it for you. Bear in mind that you need to be able to fit the plug-head of the cable through the hole.

I'm usually all about the buy-the-official-kit/don't-take-third-party-advice line of thinking but £60 for a USB wireless network adapter really is taking the fucking piss.
YOUAREYOUAREIAMIAM
I'm no drilling any holes, lol.

The adapted is taking the piss, but maybe thats what you have to expect with the wireless age now.
Spatular
WTF? No, you drill a hole through the fucking wall and pay under £10 for a cable instead of buying the overpriced WLAN adapter (which will probably have issues with the intervening wall anyway) for £60. Drilling holes in walls is what real men do when confronted with walls. Especially if they can save themselves £50. That's £50 worth of porn, or beer.

The information age has raised a nation of pussies sad.gif

If in doubt, ask your dad sly.gif
YOUAREYOUAREIAMIAM
It would have been easier if my Xbox and router were next to the wall, but the router is on the other side of one room and the Xbox is on the other side of another.

£50 worth of beer it would have to be, I can get porn for free. biggrin.gif

I have a little question.

All Xbox 360 games are HD compatible, how come the Xbox can play HD games but when they do come out now HD DVDs unless they make an external HD DVD Drive?

Because the 360 is not capable of reading an HD-DVD it will need a seperate player. Games are still written to a normal DVD and the 360 system is capable of outputing 720p or 1080i which are HD standards.
YOUAREYOUAREIAMIAM
Anyone available for a game of World Cup 2006, Ghost Recon: Advance Warfighter PM me please.
SpursRiot2012
I should be getting my 360 by the end of this coming week.

Can anybody tell me what the situation is with overheating, and these 'three red lights of death' I keep hearing about?

Oh and also, Xbox Live: Is it just a case of sticking my USB cable in the back of the console?
YOUAREYOUAREIAMIAM
I think the Overheating situation was just with the earlier consoles, nothing has happened to me yet.

The 3 red lights of death, if I'm thinking of the right thing its when one of the cables arent plugged in properly.

I'm sure for Xbox live you need to have the ethernet cable plugged into the Xbox and plugged into a router too.

Thats how I have my Xbox set up.
SpursRiot2012
Don't got Ethernet. sad.gif

No USB? sad.gif
YOUAREYOUAREIAMIAM
I don't think that would work...

Because I think you need Ethernet to share an Internet connection.
TNA2006
For getting on the x-box live all you need is the cable that comes wi the 360, and all u have to do is share your connection, and your good to go! biggrin.gif
SpursRiot2012
But I don't have a wireless modem.
SpursRiot2012
I've decided to go with three games when I get the 360:

Ghost Recon: Advanced War Fighter and Oblivion.

If anybody wishes to dissuade me from these purchases, or suggest something better, feel free.

The third game I'm not sure about, I looked at Kameo: Elements of Power, but I don't think its for me. Geometry Wars looks cool.
Spatular
Kerrist.

OK. If your current broadband connection is via a USB PC broadband modem, and you really don't want to spend money on a router: you need a crossover Ethernet cable (NOT the one that comes with the 360 premium pack - that's a normal or 'straight-through' cable). You use this cable to connect your 360 to your PC, and then set up your PC for Internet connection sharing. If you choose this setup, then whenever you want your 360 online, your PC will have to be powered on.

If your current broadband connection is via a broadband router, or you are willing to buy one (£20 to £40, depending on whether you want wireless) then use a normal / straight-through Ethernet cable (the one that comes with the premium pack is ideal) to connect the 360 to the router. Job done.

Even if you think buying a 360 wireless adapter would make sense for your home setup: don't. It's overpriced by a factor of four. Imagine paying £15 for a pound of sausages. That bad.

Rules of thumb for choosing network cables:
  • PC/console to router/switch/hub: normal
(the one that comes with the 360 premium)
  • PC/console to PC/console: crossover
(NOT the one that comes with the 360 preimium)
  • router/switch/hub to router/switch/hub: normal
(you shouldn't ever want to do this in a home network; just mentioned it here for completeness)

Anybody whos looking to trade in their PS2 should go to GAME.

They gave me £50 trade in on an original (not slimline) PS2, which I used to get a Premium 360 plus Prey and Oblivion for £264.

Brilliant.

Haven't played yet, had to go to work sad.gif

Oblivion has to be one of my favourite games of all time. I've played it religously over the last week and completed the main questline along with fighters, mages and theives guild. One more guild to complete (4/22 quests done) and thats me finished 100% biggrin.gif

I picked this up over the weekend, but haven't touched it yet as I wanted to polish off GRAW on hard before I started it.

How many hours would you say it took you to play right through it?
YOUAREYOUAREIAMIAM
I'm stuck on GRAW, I cant get my team to move to go to the extraction point on the first level/mission/stage after we abort trying to save the hispanic sounding guy at the start.

They just stand there behind the trailers.
SpursRiot2012
Oh my, Oblivion is brilliant. I haven't got into properly yet, but so far not only does it look incredible but plays brilliantly as well.

What I have played of Prey is, so far, a little dissapointing.
SpursRiot2012
Spatular: My Telewest broadband router is connected to my PC via USB, and the router has an Ethernet port. So all I gotta do is connect the 360 to the Router and bobs your uncle?

Sorry to keep asking!

Did you kill all of the enemies in that section? (I think there's only three from memory).

Also - are you commanding your team via the intel map - or just by pointing and pressing up?

Sometimes you have to go near them and order them away from scenario, as occassionally they get caught up. Othertimes you can only advance when every objective has been completed etc....

Depends on how much time your willing to spend levelling up or exploring. I didn't do much of it and I got it done in 65 hours or something. (cant remember the exact time - it tells you in the save game screen)

Got a second hand copy of Amped3 over the weekend. Not the longest game in the world, but its one of the funniest games Ive played in a long time. Great soundtrack too. If you like extreme sports games, I recomend this game if you can get it cheap (or rent it for the weekend).

Has anyone here connected their 360 to the PC for media sharing? I set it up last night, but the console doesn't detect the PC and vice versa. I have everything set up as detailed on the xbox site, but still no joy. I took down the firewall to see if that would work and still nothing. Any ideas?

May be a stupid question - but you do use your PC wirelessly right?

I havnt bothered connecting my xbox 360 up to my pc. Cant really see much advantage to it when Ive got an xbox connected up which plays video as well as audio and pictures from my pc.

Have you installed and configured Windows Media Connect? If you have XP SP2, it should already be installed. Go to Windows Media Connect in Control Panel and share the folders where you keep your music and pictures.

Note - you don't get video streaming unless you have Windows Media Centre Edition. Just music and pictures.

If there are LEDs right next to the socket on the router where you plugged the cable, are they lit and/or flashing?

Does your router have a DHCP server? Is it turned on?

At the back? No, there are no lights. If you mean the lights on the front, everything appears to be working (PC, Cable, Data: Send and Receive and Power).
