So i just recently set my 360 up for Live, but i've had the 360 since December of last year. I only had a silver package, and had to use a "48 hours gold trial" card that came with a game to get onto Gold. This isn't right, surely? Everyone keeps saying i should get a month of gold, but i got two days?!

In other news, the Stranglehold and BioShock demos are absolutely awesome, however the vampire/Splinter Cell crossover is a pile of wank.

Yep you should sign up for the Silver package and then get a nice little 'bonus' welcome message saying your now getting a months Gold free trial.

I don’t suppose anyone knows where I can purchase the collectors edition off Bioshock from? I've only seen it in a package for a PC on Game at the moment, but I reaaally want the Big Daddy figurine. I'd cancel my Tin order to pay extra for what's in that.

I dont have the 360 wireless adaptor yet cos its stupidly expensive, the computer is on the other side of the house. I will get it soon but its seems expensive for what it is

I pre-ordered mine from Gamestation in-store.

Game did have the collectors edition for the 360 a few days ago but it's been taken down. Probably due to the amount of pre-orderes they received. Your best bet would be to get up nice and early tommorow and see if Game, Gamestation, Woolies and the sort have a copy that's not been pre-ordered.

EDIT: On Gamestation they have the Tin Edition and the Special Edition. I presume the special edition is the collectors edition? Order before 2pm today for delivery tommorow morning.

its fucking awesome. normally if i get a new game i play on it for 2 hours or so then do something else but i ve been on bioshock for 4 hours its like no game i ve ever played. its everything i though the darkness would be and better

I downloaded the Skate demo the other night, to give it a whirl. Dear lord, it's horrible. The camera angle sucks, the control system is daft and the graphics aren't even much of a jump from Project 8. If you try to make it look too real, it can become shite, and this is what has happened with Skate. Give me Tony Hawk's any day...
After that, i downloaded the demo for Ratatouille and it's surprisingly great I do secretly enjoy playing platformers, and this is pretty cool.

This is something i'm confused about

Are new games getting realesed cheaper nowdays or is it just certian publisher/games that get released cheaper?

Cause i've been in Game, HMV and Virgin megastores in Manchester over the last few days, they have it priced at £39.99, yet games like, gears of war, saints row etc are averaging the £50 privce in-store brand new.

Not that i'm complaining i just find it strange that a brand new game like this is cheaper than a game thats been released ages ago

I used to manage a Virgin Megastore, when games are released, especially a big title like Bioshock, stores usually have a lower pricepoint for the first week or so to maximise initial sales before it reverts to a higher price. Its works quite well from a sales point of view and then once the initial rush for the game has passed the price goes back up without many customers noticing. Supermarkets such as Sainsburys can have it even cheaper as they have the ability to undercut entertainment retailers.

Anyone fancy a game of Pro Ev or Tiger Woods ? I'm rather bored.

Put a good few hours into Bioshock today.

It's kinda repeatitive in my opinion. I've taken several breaks from the game due to getting bored. The storyline is building up well which is probably the main thing keeping me going.

Made the mistake of deciding to play it on hard throughout! Jesus those Big Daddy's are insanely hard to defeat. I doubt anyone has defeated one without dying at least a couple times themselves. Especially on hard.

Nearly finished Neptunes Bounty. Taken the pics of the Splicers and trying to defeat the 3 Daddy's in the area to gain more Adam. It's taking me awhile.

Another problem I find. The splicers seem to re-spawn once you leave the area. Say there is three in one area and you defeat them. Return 5 minutes later there is more!! It's a pain in the tits to be honest and adds to the repeatitiveness (If there is such a word?) of the game.

Still, it's good. Maybe hype has gotten the best of me.

Anyone seen any good console + game bundles about?

I'm looking for one that has an extra wireless controller thrown in.

I have to strongly disagree, Project 8 takes the piss out of skateboarding while Skate has brought back real skateboarding, If the tony hawks series would go to the back to making there games like the THPS1 then it would be worth playing, but Im bored of Project 8 the tasks are insanly stupid. Impossible for ANY pro-skater to perform.

Now skate you cant do a 1080 trick, its hard enough to do a 720, you cant do insanely impossible tricks, the only problem with the game is the way the buttons are laid out besides that flawless and real skating has been brought back to the 360.

As for bioshock is it really worth getting?

I downloaded the Bioshock Demo.
I'm not one of the shooter type games but it seemed ok.
I think i set it too dark though because I couldn't see much.

The skate demo is ok.
As said, I don't like the camera much, but I like the feel of it.
Haven't owned a skating game since TH3 on the PS2.

Guiatr Hero looks worth investing in too.

Don't get me wrong it's your opinion just I find both games to be extremely similar in gameplay and looks.

Having played Bioshock now for several hours in my opinion the ratings it's gotten make it seem alot better than it is. Don't get me wrong it's good, very good but it's not as good as people made/make out.

I'll be trading it in once I've completed it for Blue Dragon.

Finally got round to playing Prey.

Thought it was rather excellent although the death walk did make it a wee bit too easy. Great game overall, though not the best to play if you've had a few beers.

Does anyone know anything about Blue Dragon? I need something to kill some time until I can get my hands on Stranglehold, and Blue Dragons caught my eye, and I don’t know shit about it . I also still need to play Oblivion, and The Darkness.

Blue Dragon's great. Play's almost exactly like Final Fantasy around the 7/8/9 era in regards to combat, and has one of the best soundtracks on a game I've ever heard. Graphics could be better, but they're certainly acceptable, and while the storyline is different, and you try not to compare it to say, FF7, or FF10, which had awesome stories, it's pretty good. Only downside it the pretty terrible voice acting, but you could always put the game in japanese with english subtitles.

I'm beggining to think I mis-read what you asked.

Did you want to know if the current 360's (Premiunes and Core) will run via HDMI? Or did you want to know if the Elite's will run using the current Component and Scart outputs?

I'll ansewer both to be sure.

The Elite's will output HDMI, Component and Scart. I along with alot of people find Component and HDMI arn't much different. The only difference in my opinion is the sound. HDMI carries sound and picture where as component doesn't. Your sound comes through the scart cables using compoent. I've got surround sound set up and most HD TV's today sound brilliant though scart so you won't have a problem there.

The Premium and Core don't have HDMI enabled. Microsoft are making these systems with HDMI as we speak so look for them on the shelves once shops sell their current batch. Seems MS are looking to make all their systems HDMI enabled.



As I said above MS are making the current 360's (Premium and Core) with HDMI it's only a matter of time before we get them.

Not in the least - the only difference in video reproduction is analogue vs digital. If you are running 10m away through a cheap cable, then HDMI is the way to go, as you'll get degradation from analogue component.

For most people though, component is exactly the same as hdmi for video.

In my time out from the festival I went and bought the Elite, got a free copy of Bioshock in the tin version all for £299. Sold me normal 360 to my little bro for £50 so didn't do to badly seeing that I got my 1st 360 for free.And at long last I have a wireless controller!!! STILL playing F>E>A>R> alot online trying to get into Armoured Core 4 and Call Of Juarez. Can't wait for Friday/Saturday 1st of September for Assassins Creed. Oh, Bioshock rules like a mother funster even though haven't had much time to play it yet.

Got myself an Elite for my birthday. Blue Dragon came with it (GAME only have 4 rubbish bundles and I already had Bioshock bought for me) so I need to get rid of that. It's sealed, will GAME swap it for any other title? I wouldn't mind Gears of War.

GAME were really really insistant that they wouldn't sell me the Elite with anything other than Bioshock, Command & Conquer, Flatout or Blue Dragon, none of which I wanted/needed so I just picked the game with the highest RRP.

Quick question in regards to DVD playback on the 360... Is it multi region? If not can you buy/download something to make it mulit region?

I've played all regions and copies, never had a problem.

I've never been able to play American dvd's on my xbox i get a message saying "Can't play DVD. This disc's region code is incorrect for this console"

I can't say I've ever experienced that message. At least half of the downloaded movies I watch are NTSC.

I get that message with official region 1 and region 4 dvd's. I've got a fair few dvd's from playusa, and thats when it it says that message. I can play pirated dvd's on them no problem, just when it comes to official non region 2 dvd's it comes up with that message
