Got a wireless network adapter and some Microsoft points for Christmas only to set it up on the big day and get told BANNED.

Merry Christmas from Bill Gates :-(

Anything whatsoever that can be done about that?

Why are you banned? Have you got a chipped box?

Yeah I have one thats modded and used it for like 9 months without there ever being an issue, played Fifa and particularly COD 4 on Live for hours and hours and hours with never an issue. Haven't played it at all online for 3 months or so....then Xmas Day...banned.

Merry fucking Christmas.

How dare Microsoft ban those chipped boxes. tongue.gif

how the hell do you do star power on GHWT with Rock band drums?

Edit-apparently you hit the yellow and blue pads at the same time

I didn't know you could use Rock Band drums on GHWT. How does one go about doing so if you need cymbals that only come with the GHWT set?
Andy Shoes
They've merged the columns, so there are only 4 columns instead of 5, like in Rock Band. I believe both cymbals are on the yellow Rock Band pad.

The star power is really fiddly to hit, and the drum fill bits are daft as you can be going on forever. Some fun songs to play though, such as the Hendrix ones, 'Love Me Two Times' and 'Are You Gonna Go My Way'

I can't play them though at the minute, as i'm actually sending my Xbox back to Microsoft soon. confused.gif

Tomb Raider : Underworld. A really great game and worth the frustration of miss-timing jumps etc to play until completion. So it's another Tomb Raider nothing new but a game that had me playing for a good 15 or so hours that I had to see how the story planned out. It ticked all my boxes and even though a little frustrating at times was thoroughly enjoyable. It's a huge game.

If I were to buy a bigger hard drive, how would I move all my current information such as arcade and Xbox original games over to the new hard drive?

Not sure. Why are trying to connect your hard drive to your macbook?

If you are talking about in terms of general use...ie useless your mac as a wireless media extender, apparantly you can connect your mac to the xbox, just like a PC.

Only thing is you wont have Windows media centre on the mac, but you should be able to connect to it as an external device.

However, if you talking about physically connecting your HD to your mac I have no idea unfortunately.
The Four Horsemen
So I can transfer some music, pictures and videos over onto the hard drive of the XBox.

Also how do I get the wireless to pick up my MacBook? Sorry for asking stupid questions, but you have to to learn sometimes.

As far as im aware you cant transfer any media to the 360 from another device. I wish you could! If that did happen alot the marketplace stuff would become devoid.

With my PC you can stream video and music from it to the xbox.

In terms of a guide for how to connect your mac, apparantly its a lot more difficult to do than a PC (For obvious reasons)

Heres a guide though I found:-

That's for 120gb hard drive. The 60gb hard drive doesn't but it does come with 3 months XBL and a headset.

I can ring Microsoft and get one for free, but if I'm reading correctly it doesn't transfer game saves. Is that right?

if it says no pending repair its probably done and on its way back to you, was it the red rings? if so and youve had it over a year your warrenty will have expired but you have 3 years if that happens

Nah, it transfers everything.

I bought a 120GB hard driveas my 20GB one was filling up (mostly with Rock Band stuff) and with the NXE coming out I wanted to be able to save games to my hard drive and just run it off there.

The 120GB one was about £70 on sale I think and came complete with the transfer cable. Doing the transfer is a piece of piss and it transfers everything including save games.

The 120gb aren't cheap, and the 60gb one's come with 3 months live and a headset as I already mentioned. Might as well buy that and flog the 3 months live as I still have 10 months left on mine.

Has anyone actually had a succesful Band V Band match on GH:WT yet? I've only had 2 chances to get 4 people all up for a band session but when I try to get onto Live there is never more than 3 other players on. Is there an optimum day/time to find more people online?

May I recommend Connect360 from Nullriver Software? It costs about £10 and is a brilliant way to stream video from your Mac to your 360. It does some additional transcoding itself, so can handle more formats/codecs than a PC/Windows Media Player connection.

Their. I said it. Now im waiting for men in suits to arrive at my door to snap a few polaroids of me, take down my name, and depart [old Alice Cooper routine about people who have never heard of the Beatles].

In all honesty, though, I really am having more fun with Saints Row 2 than I ever had with GTA IV. The gang element is a lot more pronounced, and I like different ethnic gangs in different coloured clothes shooting each other, over the more movie like experience GTA offered up. I also love the more open customisation options, and feel that if a superior engine like the GTA IV engine were applied [albeit in fast motion, FFS] instead of the engine the game uses, it would be all the more brilliant.

Yes it is full of horrible dialogue and is essentialy a self parody, but to me that is part of the package. It is like the developers made the TimeSplitters of open world gang games without even realising it.

Also, I can cross dress and spray buildings with shit, should I so desire.

You say this like you aren't the 433rd person on the UKFF to do so.

I got Saints Row 2 for Christmas but haven't played it yet. I hope to enjoy it. But I've never bought into the GTA IV backlash. For me it's one of the greatest achievements in videogame history, and while it's not the perfect game that some had allowed themselves to expect, anyone holding that against it (to the degree that others have - not you in particular) seems a little spoilt to me.

It is not that anything is wrong with the game. What it set out to do it mastered perfectly. It is just some people preffered the more over the top San Andreas style gameplay which ended up being carried on by Saints Row. Some just preffered that to GTA IV's more realistic approach.

I finished the main quest of Fallout 3 last night. The ending (or at least the one I got) is a slight letdown, but very much in keeping with the rest of the story.

I'm going to go back to one of my previous save games so I can complete the side missions without having to [basic]redo from start[/basic]. Finishing the main quest and a whole load of the side quests, I've only uncovered just under half of the game and half of the map.

I also finished the tour in Rock Band 2 yesterday as a solo guitarist. Again, there's a whole load of venues and gigs to go back and play, then I'm going to start from the beginning as a bassist while I track down an affordable secondhand drum kit.

Also, Niko Bellic handles like an arthritic action man. They presented me with the most phenomenally impressive gaming world imagineable, then made me travel around it in the most agonising manner possible. It sits on my shelf now, largely unplayed, overlooked in favour of games that want you to have fun whilst you're being blown away.

Oh yeah, I also been playing more Nuts and Bolts. I love it. So glad I ignored the mixed bag of reviews and showed a little faith. I built a vehicle that uses floatation cushions to cruise along water and land, has inflatable balloons to make it fly when needed, and better still has a tiny little one man escape pod vessel thing that detatches from the vehicle and flies independently~! It took almost two hours to get it how I want it and I am immensely proud. It serves no purpose in any of the Jiggy-related tasks, but I could not possibly care less.

Your words taunt me so...
I really, really want this game, and was hoping for it at Christmas but sadly nothing.
Better scrape some pennies together...
JLM
I got it for £20 at Gamestation during their half-price Christmas deal thingy. It went off the rotation a couple of days later, so I got quite lucky there. My friend spent forty minutes playing around in the workshop and building what he calls "The beast" and then made me buy him a copy for Christmas. Tis much fun, though if you have some patience I'd try and get 10 or 15 jiggies under your belt and find a few of the parts boxes dotted around the hub before trying to create your masterpiece. The default parts are quite limited (as Just Me has mentioned) and can put you off a bit in the early going because it limits your creativity.

Once you have unlocked a decent amount of stuff (I currently have 30 jiggies and have trawled the town to find many, many crates) though, you'll spend more time building than you will playing the game. Or at least that's been the case in my experience. Last time I turned it on I played for two hours and all I did was build the vehicle I mentioned earlier and test it out until it worked how I wanted.

I still have Mirror's Edge sitting in its shrink wrap too. Trying to avoid starting on it until I make more headway into my pile of unfinished stuff. Doing well so far.

How long did it take you to finish Fallout 3 if you don't mind me asking bud? I'm about 13 hours in according to my (lying) save game and am level 6 / doing the "Galaxy News Radio" quest. Love the game but I'm starting to worry that a lack of time combined with the sheer scope of the thing will defeat me haha...

My only (mild) complaint about Nuts & Bolts is that you are sometimes rewarded for showing initiative, while other times it proves a monumental waste of time. For instance:

But I definitely recommend the game, Nero1000. Beg, borrow or steal.
JLM
Yeah, my friend collected all the nuts on the first level and deposited them into the machine and found that nothing happened. He then found out about the challenge asking you to do this. He was not pleased, especially when he did it without the machine you get in the challenge that makes it a lot easier.

At least the tasks themselves allow you to use your ingenuity in that you can tackle many of them with your own vehicles. Any ideas for getting Mr. Fit around the island on his jog without him getting hit? I can barely get him there alive so far and I want that TT trophy.

Also, JM, the view you get when you do that first thing you mentioned is absolutely stunning. The achievment was nice and all, but just standing there and taking it all in was reward enough.
Just Me
Agreed on the view, that was breathtaking.

I'm stuck on that Mr Fit task. I tried building a vehicle with a huge open box shape on the front, which would at least shield him from the sides, the back and above. But the enemies mostly attack from the front and it's very hard to keep facing the direction he wants to run - if he changes course, he will push against the walls until he passes through or under them. The enemies themselves are almost impossible to defend against, since they launch in rapidly from a safe height and distance, and occasionally from behind your camera so you don't even see them coming. Very frustrating challenge, as most escort missions in any game are.

In other news, I picked up Guitar Hero: Aerosmith in my dying Woollies yesterday for about £12. I know it's not very long and supposedly quite easy, but I like Aerosmith, it's another 40 songs for me to bash around with and it should help rack up the gamerscore a bit.

Completed the main story, along with most of the side quests, in Fable 2. As much as I enjoyed it it really was yet another example of Molyneux promising the earth and delivering very little. The morality seemed to come down to little more than decidiing if you would take the Bounty Hunter jobs as opposed to the kidnapping jobs and there really weren't that many choices to be made within individual quests. Perhaps my views were slightly skewed by the fact that I came to it straight from playing Oblivion and Fallout 3 but it really didn't feel like a game of choices - maybe playing as a baddie will make the differences more pronounced?

One thing I do have say is that it has to be the single easiest game ever made. Apparently if you lose all your health in a fight you are respawned just outside the combat zone and you can jump back in, however the act of being knocked out will leave you permanently scarred, or if you have a resurrection potion it will be consumed to bring your health back up at the crucial moment. I say apparently because I was never knocked out, not once in the entire game, and apart from the first hour or two when you only have a minute health bar I never even came close to being in trouble regardless of what the game thought it was throwing at me. I know the idea is to make it accessible and leave you feeling empowered as your character grows but this game was just daft, it's not even like I was that great at the combat - timing the counters when sword fighting gave me no end of problems but it didn't change the fact that I kicked every enemies arse without ever once being beaten.

I've just bought Fable II, and recentley completed Fallout 3 (for the most part anyway). I won't be jumping straight into Fable II just yet though as I've just started Mass Effect. That's more what I'm getting at tbh. I've wasted money on games in the past because I get so far then get distracted by a new game. Now I just put all my energy into one game and play things like Halo live when I'm bored. I really want to play Fable II but I bought Mass Effect first so must finish that before I start anything else.

This also saves money because I don't buy games when they first come out. The last game I bought on release was GTA IV.

Anyone here who doesn't play Fable 2 that much and got any of those hero dolls? Chuck 'em my way. inlove.gif
