I've got a spare 17" monitor that I reckon I could put to really good use for this very reason! Being that I'm a bit cheap, does anyone know if the leads you can buy on eBay for a fiver (such as this one) are any cop? Tbh, it's January, I don't much fancy spending too much cash this month but I've had my Xbox in the living room of the girlfriends house for the last month because all her housemates went home for Christmas and I'm thinking now might be a good time to relocate it as they're all coming back this week.

It's either that or I buy Scene It! and never again get to progress my utter uselessness at Gears of War due to that being all we're ever allowed to play...

Also, I bought my Xbox secondhand and it's already got flashed firmware (yes, I know, even after being told it's not worth it on this very board) anyway, I'm not likely to be playing any back-ups or imports but I do realise I still run the risk of getting banned from Live if and when I ever choose to take my ass on there so I can get it handed back to me by pubescent Americans. So, does anyone know how I can go about re-flashing it to a newer firmware that's less likely to flagged by MS or even back to the original? I'd quite like to get online, if only for Live Arcade and the dashboard updates.

Hi I recently got an Xbox for xmas & I got my free Xbox 1 month membership which runs out at the end of this month, well for some reason the other day it will not let me connect to Xbox Live it said network adapter disconnected so I changed the cable & now it says that the network adapter is wired but my IP address failed so I tried changing my IP address to what my modem is on my computer & that still didnt work so I dont have a clue what to do, can anyone help me please.

Totally had it with Assassins Creed, found the game enjoyable yet very un-challenging at times and very very repetitive, same old cities one after another.
I've only continued to play as I have two more assassinations left to do so thought I'd see if I could finally make some sense of the story that I haven't had the foggiest idea what they are on about all the way through, other than they are badies and master says kill them.

Come to a real tough bit where every guard is on high alert and I have an informer who wants me to kill three guards for him after he made a prat of himself at a brothel the night before. Cannot seem to kill them all with complete stealth. I even killed the third and as I did was detected at the same point in time. To add to that you have three minutes to do it in.

I got sick of assassins creed straight away, I managed to get through all the tedious time travel crap thing at the start, then the bit in the caves where you get made a prat of and grassed up, and then the bit where you log the people, then when I got into the actual game and had to ride a horse for fourty minutes to get to my first target, I just thought "fuck it" and turned it off.

Well my xbl is playing up again, same old problems with connecting and the dashboard

Yep im getting sick of it. Randomly disconnecting at the end of a game or not connecting at all. Freezing for ages when in the dashboard whilst online etc.

They had the nerve to send a warning message to my email add stating that my membership is soon to expire. They should give me a free month the cheeky gits.

Ive got my xbox live working, the problem was the connection between my internet connection & the xbox, all I done in the end was bridge the connections.

does anyone know if its working now?

i ask because i have to shut down my pc, turn it off and change ethernet cables over to get on xbl and i cba to do all that and find it aint working properly!

I'm looking to get xbl for the first time and wondered if anybody can answer some questions for me.

1. How much does it cost and is there a contract ie £20 for 12 months, or is it a play and pay when you want?

2. Do you need a phoneline present or can you connect it via wireless?

3. I have Sky in my room and the phoneline is run outside the house, could I get a splitter so that I could just have the xbl running off the same line as the sky?

Any help would be appreciated.

XBL is £40 for 12 Months. There is also prices for 1 and 3 months i believe. Its not pay as you play its a fixed fee for a certain duration of time. You can connect wirelessly with the XBox Wireless Adapter if you have a Router.

XBL seems to have settled down again for the time being. I also hear rumours that Duke Nukem 3D is heading for XBLA with 4 player co op

i heard rumors that GOLDENEYE! is coming to xbl with full online deathmatch and such!

Thats a real sucker! The original Goldeneye was actually supposedly meant to be a lot more detailed in terms of characters and digitally embossed images of the old Bond actors but it all went pear shaped over image rights

Right this may sound like a stupid question and will probably be really obvious but I've really got into Call of Duty 3 recently and can't seem to get to play a ranked Team Battle, everytime I select Battle/Team Battle it comes up as a Battle game, any ideas how I can play Team Battle and actually get rewards for it. Im in the waroom level at the bit where the timer stops because i've completed the objective. Im told to follow cpt price but he doesnt move anywhere. i think its glitched.

so you've input the abort codes on the keyboard and then after all that cpt price doesnt move? Have you tried running ahead of him or anything?

I'm pissed off to no end with Fifa 08 right now. It doesn't seem to be saving my Challenge Mode progress, I'm even using two save spaces and still it keeps missing out my recent wins and whatnot. Curses.

Can anyone pass on any words of wisdom for a slight problem I have on manager mode? I'm trying to get my players into the end of the year team of the season thing. Despite having a top scorer and a goalkeeper with he most clean sheets most years I don't seem to have any luck.

Just started playing on XBOX live and I already hate it... Playing fight night round 3 and so far all I've encountered is people either run around until you get pissed and log off or endless haymakers, all I wanted was a decent fight but couldn't get one.. meh.

Dont judge XBL on playing just one game, some are awful online, although i cant speak for FN r3

Fifa 5V5 remains one of the funnest Xbl games out there.

COD4 is also enjoyable.

I went against the 60% rating Sonic got and decided to buy it anyway. After 30 seconds of playing the game and controlling Sonic, I decided this rating was totally undeserved, and it needed a much LOWER rating.

My friend brought his 360 hard-drive over yesterday and we hooked it up to my console to download him some updates and free shit (he hasn't got his online). He left behind a bunch of games he isn't playing at the moment: Amped 3, which I haven't tried yet. Test Drive Unlimited which is a bit dull after Forza and Burnout, although the actual driver's-eye-view is very cool.

The other one is Stuntman Ignition. Fucking hell, is that mother tough! After about a dozen goes at each stunt run, I count myself lucky if I can get two stars. The two motorbike ones in the volcano movie nearly drove me up the bloody wall. I've only got the two pickup truck levels on the volcano film to do before I get to move on to something else, but blimey it's a challenge.

You get better at it quickly. Once you get the hang of "stringing" the stunts (and realise that all you really have to do is drive close to things). Its good fun, the level design, especially the last 2 films, is really good.


Anyone getting Burnout Paradise City friday? The demo was great, the reviews have been good and Ive enjoyed all the others, but I'm really into Mass Effect right now so I may wait til Ive finnished that.

I've heard the only negative thing about Burnout is that if you fail a race ie come any less than 1st you have to drive all the way back to the starting point and try again. i'm sure it gets tedius after a while.

When is UT 3 set to appear on the 360 scene?

Okay, I've been looking at this and it looks to be a great option. However, my spare monitor doesn't have any built in speakers so I'm gonna need seperate ones. So, can anyone recommend any cheap speakers that can be used with the Red/White connectors on the VGA lead? Or, I guess, the optical lead.

Also, there seem to be quite a few available - is it really worth going for the official one or are some of the cheaper ones just as good?

Got Guitar Hero II last week (i know it's arse backwards with III recently coming out).

Really enjoying it. However i can't get past 'Mother' on hard. I know that'll sound hilarious to the hard core players but the frustrating thing is this. I can play about 80% of the more advanced songs further down the list on hard in free play mode but obviously in career i can't access them as i need 5/5 on each stage to progress. This is Mortal Kombat II madness where i could always whip Shang Tsung with little fuss but yet Goro caused me no end of problems.
