Does anyone know of any plans for live wrestling shows to come to Bournemouth in the near future?
Since Scott Conway leaving for Thailand there haven't been many shows here apart from WAW vs FWA last May and the charity show put on by EGA in Ferndown.
All Star are not at Southampton until November plus what would be cool is a Saturday show down here so I can take my son and not have pay for train for us all.
The promoters I'm aware of that are possibilities down here are WAW, EGA, RQW, VPW, EWF, Premier and Best of British who do shows on the Isle of Wight.
cheers

We do not only run shows on the isle of wight!
We are look at venues in your area, and across the uk.
We shall be appearing in numerous venues around the country shortly!
Me and my bird would go to a show in Bournemouth if anyone could be bothered to put one on. That'll pay for most of your roster right there...

Fuck me for a laugh. Is Bournemouth some kind of hot spot on August 19th and nobody told me?!?
Great to see lots of promotions, sad to see them all going on the same day

. Best of luck to both though - how many shows does Aug 19th have?!?! AWA:UK, LDN, EPWE, 1PW, HEW, wXw, most likely All Star 1x or 2x. Superb~!

thats where things have gone mad, suerly the shows could have been arranged for seperate dates, this way the crowd gets divided the chances are both shows will be effected and both could lose. its better to have one fed have a run at it on different dates surely.

Maybe the problem lay in communication between feds. If we all met up once a year, in say coventry, and discussed privately upcoming dates, such clashes wouldnt occur. Don't you agree, Sanjay?

.
But seriously, i'm sure it wasnt done on purpose - Sanjay has always been very good with checking dates with me for clashes first, and i do the same with him. I'm sure it's just an oversight.

Thing is Dan- I announced my show on ukff a month ago and today it propped up. I have contacted the promoter and he's already given a deposit on the venue so I dunno nothing much can do. I can't move my date at all because its booked, paid for and it's a TV Taping and all the promotion is designed.
Anyway, I hope both shows will draw.

How much distance is there between Poole and Bournemouth, in real terms? Are the two likely to interfere with one another to a great extent? Or do folks from Poole seldom go to Bournemouth, and vice versa?

Its pretty short bus or train journey. Good to see Bournemouth getting some wrestling back for the Summer Season though, it's held some pretty strong shows there in the past with Dixon and the Crabtrees promoting stacked cards throughout the Summer months.

Its is not good that EPWE and LDN will only be 8mile apart, but i looked into this as soon as this post went up 1st time and i am putting a lot of money into this.
So it just will be a chance we both have to take.
But there are 60-70 thousand people in that area if not more, we must be able to draw 1000 each at least
And it is middle summer too

It wasn't that long ago that the summer period was looked at as a bad time for drawing due to so many going away hence why promotions would look to the holiday camps for summer work.

Well I've never heard of EPWE to be honest what can I expect?
I really think it would be better if you put the show on another date you must have known about the LDN show in Poole presumably as you are on this forum?
Just had a look at the website on your main roster page and don't see any wrestlers I have ever heard of. I don't know all the names on the LDN show mentioned so far but Phil Powers is on there which is enough to convince me where I'll be on the 19th of August

I think the summer thing will do the a show a lot of favours to be honest when it not being held in a tourist location like the BIC for instance. The Littledown is no where near the see front.
Anyway good luck to you all I'm glad to see there is more wrestling going on locally.

Yes i do check this forum and other about date, most of the time i look on 1stop site.
But i started talking to and arranged the date on april 10th just after you posted and the was nothing up about LDN that i could see.
I only put it up yesterday because the contract and receipt for the deposit came to me yesterday.
We have (EPWE) only been going a year so far thats why you not heard of us, but i have been running show and helping run shows for 7+ years.
We are 60+ miles away in Swindon, so this local to us.
But just because i don't want to use sort of well known names dose that makes us wrong, I like to use more guys who have been around for sometime but not got any reconistion (don't know if the spellings right).
Like Gideon-Stu Odyssey-Alex Steele-Dave Mercy-Jake Jeckel these guys have been around now for sometime.
But I say good luck to us Both and anyone else who has a show on that day, This is the nature of this business.

I suspect LDN will outdraw EPWE, as Bmth fans love Phil Powers, and the Poole venue is much better and easier to get to (bus and train) compared to Littledown which is kind of out on a limb. Good luck to both shows, I'm gutted that having been waiting for wrestling to return to Bmth (save for the promising EGA) for over a year I'm on hols and cant get to either. (Though may get to VPW). Hope both are successe though. Rampage if you want me to put up some posters at work (my employer employs approx 2000 people) then pm me. I put some up for Rickys show at Littledown before.

Powers, Kid and Jace The Ace are arguably amongst the top ten workers in the UK at the moment and have been for some time and Gunn is one biggish name US worker who hasn't been over-exposed in this country yet. £10 for those names alone sounds like a bargain to me.

Damn typos. Thanks for pointing that out.
SOS is Irish Whip Wrestling's champion, Spiro is from Texas and trained with The UK Kid at Shawn Michael's Wrestling Academy and Robbie Everest is a youngster trained by The UK Kid. And Billy Gunn isnt a former wrestler, he still wrestles regularly and was excellent last time he was over here.
But your entitled to your opinion.

wow its good to see real wrestling coming back to bournemouth!!! as for the 3 shows, the one that stands out for me has to be vpw's. ive checked all the websites of the shows and tghey all have their own look but again vpw stands out,. it might be the impressive roster as apose to what looks like unpaid students on the other shows. will be great to see real wrestlers like billy gunn and other yanks an then top uk guys aswell klike phil powers jace ace uk kid. but ive gotta say an its only my opinion,. u look at the venues also, vpw are running in the bic's pavilion,. a very reptutable venue, an the others aere running in sports centres ect,. it kinda speaks for its self,. will be good to see REAL wrestlers who are trained pros and dont look like they belong in the audience!!! again its only my opinoin but compare the rosters on all 3 sites and make your own mind up on what you'd wanna pay your money to see? i want to get most for my money, i know where i wanna go with my kids!!!
http://www.bic.co.uk/Box_Office/Event_Details.asp?event=3575btw dont everyone start bithcing about me just cos i wanna see decent wrestling like we see on real tv like sky,. than the wrestling channel students,. although siome twc stuff is good!! see ya at bic!!

Jul 7 2006, 19:06
So you're going for the look of the guys, and basing your assumption of their level of ability solely on that?
I guess you'd rather watch Chris Masters than Mick Foley in his prime?
not at all,. my chopice to go to the bic show is a mixture between many diff things,. wouold u not be worried if you looked on a roster and they all looked like mick foley? he was one of a kind!!! what i said was they all look like wrestlers!!! another reason is of course billy gunn former wwe guy! and when i look at there site,. and the fact they are running in a good sized venue like the bic pavilion,. and the guys on the roster are noteable,. im not saying cos ive neevr heard of half the others on the other sites that they are bad wrestlers,. but im looking at how to spend my money wisely!! i looked at lots of diff things and mix of venue, wrestlers the look of the posters around town! which are huge profesional looking posters for a change and not a4's printed off sum ones pc,.. its all a refreshing change that i maybe able to see a near wwe/tna quality show in this country rather than the crap ive seen loads of times b4,. most uk shows are a joke ive been to and they all have at least 2 shitty matches on with guys who are kids,. and thats every show not just one time. it will be good if the vpw guys can produce and provide the real thing!"!!!!! sue me for wanting the real deal!!!

Not at all, I hope you have a great evening.
To emphasise, I have no issue nor axe to grind with VPW or indeed any other promotion; I'd love to see the UK wrestling scene as strong as it can be, with many great promotions putting on strong cards. I hope that all 3 promotions in Bournemouth have stellar shows and go from strength to strength.
I can understand if you've seen some sub standard events before; I think we all have. The point is, I've seen many substandard matches on major promotions such as WWE, where guys covered for a lack of ability by being huge or having a "look." Substandard matches are by no means the exclusive preserve of young looking trainees, nor are five star classics what one should automatically expect from guys with decent gimmicks and large muscles.

Liverpool Victoria Friendly Society, a large mutual life assurance company. We're not the biggest in the area either, JP Morgan bank (next to Littledown where EPWE show is) employ more prob around 2500 and Sunseeker the boat makers I think employ more than them in Poole.
