Friday 13th Part 6 - Jason Lives - been banging in all the Friday 13th movies recently, this was one was pretty much a run of the mill slasher flick, Jason just obliterates campers for fun...not as gory as a few of the earlier films, pretty cool though, one of the poorer endings in the series too.
Friday 13th Part 7 - The New Blood - woooo, part 7...first hour is Jason slashing the fuck outta teenagers as usual, its kinda boring again the gore factor is low so you dont really get to see much. Then the last half hour is fucking awesome, Jason takes on the bird with telepathic powers or someshit and he gets the shit kicked outta him, burnt, roof on his head, nails in his face, hung, electrocuted, glassed, shot, drowned...it all happens in the last half hour and the guy keeps coming back for more. Brilliaint stuff, some peeps see this as the worst of the 10 (or 11 if you count Freddy Vs Jason) movies, for the first hour they could be right, but the last half is a fucking blast. Awesome!
I lost count after Friday the 13th 3--D. The one with the subtitle "Jason takes Manhattan" is probably the worst one I've seen but it has a pretty nifty box cover.
that's number 8...got that one next

Well i got to Recommend The DVD Box Set Of the 1970,s T.V Series Thriller, 43 episodes on 16 discs. Loads of stars American and English and stories ranging from Horror to Murder stories.
Each story runs for 70 mins, so you get a sort of mini film..one i saw today was called Nursie Will Make it Better, it starred Patrick Troughton, (Dr Who 2) Ed Bishop (U.F.O) and Diana Dors who is a Collector of Souls for the Devil. Her Fight With Patrick Troughton, over God v Devil is excellant.
Also lots of Humour..when a girl finds she can walk again after a Pact With the Devil her Father says " Thank God" ..Diana Dors Looks up in the air and says..."I dont think so" and then looks down lol
Its a bit Expensive, but worth everypenny.

Jason takes Manhattan is the biggest lie in movie history. He's only in Manhattan for about 10 minutes. But ~~~~ for the boxing scene.
Though I do have a soft spot for all the Jason films, they make me laugh more than any comedy. The horrible dialouge, retarded attempts at "cool kids" and the jokes are so shit they are funny and everything is ridiculous and the kills are fantastic (even in the later movies where alot of the violence is cut).
Though chapter 4 the New Beginning is probably my favorite, it has made me laugh more than every Mel Brooks film combined.

He spends most of the time on a boat to Manhattan doesn't he?

I saw a preview showing of Munich earlier. A very good (Steven Spielberg) film, but flawed. A good story, some good acting (Eric Bana is good, while Daniel Craig shows promise as being a good James Bond), and some good action scenes. The dialogue is not too good at times though, alot of the stuff in the film is too silly (for a film which I felt should have been serious), there are no characters to like or care for (and they are pretty much face-less & name-less), and it pretty much turns into Ronin alot of the time. It is also too long at 2 hours 45 minutes. It will win awards (Oscars), but I think there are films which were more deserving.

Enduring Love
An interesting film, with a good cast (Daniel Craig, Samantha Morton, Rhys Ifans, Bill Nighy), good acting, and a good story. The movie has a very good start and a great sequence of events near the end, but not alot really happens in the middle, it is slow paced for the most part, and some questions are left unanswered in the end. Interesting and engaging at times, but not enough to allow me to recommend the film.

The Last Boy Scout - im a Tony Scott fan, and anything written by Shane Black is guaranteed entertainment so this just made for one of the wittiest action movies ever. Bruce Willis is at his dry best in this film and some of the action sequences are great (especially the car chase ending with the car in the swimming pool). Classic action movie.

Went to yet another preview showing tonight, Steve Coogan's latest film
A Cock and Bull Story. A very good film, with some very funny scenes (if you get a chance to see it, then hot chestnut and foetus), a good cast (Coogan, Rob Brydon, Ronni Ancona, Shirley Henderson, Dylan Moran, David Walliams, Stephen Fry, Ashley Jensen, Jeremy Northam, Mark Williams, Gillian Anderson - most are under-used however), an interesting story (a film within a film!), and about 50% of the film involving Coogan and Brydon insulting each other. The cinema had about 10 people in, and my brother didn't seem to like the film (but he liked Fantastic 4 so what does he know!), but I did and I would really recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Coogan (or Rob Brydon) and just wants to have a laugh.

Saw Napoleon Dynamite on DVD the other week, and was instantly thinking "this is such a great film on so many levels" whether its Napoleon himself, Uncle "livin' in '82" Rico, Rex & Starla Kwon Or Kip. I think those who don't like it where maybe expecting a Laughing out loud type of comedy rather than an observational comedy, hence their dislike for it. Rico's time machine and Rex's Dojo scenes are amongst my favourites in this film.
Anyone who doesnt like it, will no doubt like American Pie style films and Friends over this great film.

agree with everything you said there...i hate that people seem to think American Pie is the only kinda comedy movie (i aint knocking it, cause i like the movie). But i have a friend who watched Sideways after i recommended it to him and he he hated it and said it wasnt funny at all (Eurotrip is one of his favourite movies

). It's kinda shit that people are one-dimensional in things like that, just cause there wasnt a spunk on food gag or something it wasnt funny to him.
Sideways then goes on to be rated #1 in pretty much every movie poll going.

Ooo, I saw that earlier this week too. Fucking pathetic, agreed. I then watched Football Factory. Absolute class, shows up Green Street for the piss that it is. I highly reccomend it.
I completely disagree with that!.
The Football Factory book by John King is one of the greatest books on British culture ever. In fact, the whole trilogy is superb and John King is without a doubt my favourite ever author. The film made based on it was a complete and utter let-down full with cheesey voice-overs and one dimensional characters. There was no plot linking it together and a number of scenes in the film that didn't advance the story or characters.
Green Steet pisses all over the Football Factory in every way, shape and form.
The only hoolie film better than Green Street is The Firm!

Just rented this from the college library and watched it today, the story is of a gifted child piano prodigy who's father is controlling and bad, so he grows up and goes off to London and plays the hardest piano piece known to man and descends into madness. Then we pick up the story as he gets older and has forgotten about music, Geoffrey Rush plays the adult and he is incredible in this. But, other than that performance I found the film dull dull dull, too much based on his growing up and I was interested in the grown up side. So I got bored and nearly fell asleep.

A good movie but the message of the film didn't really have a great impact on me. Enjoyable but the whole film is basically a set-up for them to say "Drugs are bad" and nothing more. Worth a watch but I don't think I would ever watch it again.

A bad mistake was getting very stoned then watching that, the scene near the end I actually thought my arm was being sawn off!
The Hills Have Eyes - excellent 70's Wes Craven flick, i love this kinda horror movie...inbred cannibalistic family try to take out a stranded family. All kinds of wild shit goes down, Craven was the man back in the day he made some pretty hardcore/cult flicks (then he started going all shit). This has been remade and is coming out later in the year, id like to see how it comes off.

To Live & Die In L.A.
After years upon years of my Dad and Brother-In-Law telling me this was a must watch film, and especially coming from my Dad who's taste in Movies is Bible-esque - you live your life by the reviews he gives, I watched this classic 80's thriller. Starring William L Petersen (CSI), Wlliem Dafoe, John Turtoro and an appearance by former US International Goalkeeper Ian Feur's Sister, Debra, I thought "this looks like an enjoyable film" from the onset. but what got me, and I must admit, I a bastard for this, I picked up on simple things like, why would a "US Secret Service" agent be working undercover on what the Feds would do? Secondly, why did they seem so inept at Undercover work when being in the service would require you to live your life by this trade anyway? and lastly, when people get shot in the head, why do they scream "arrgghh" afterwards? wouldnt the brain have been dead before the signal could be sent to the mouth to utter such words?
I know Im picking up on every detail, but for me thats what ruins films in my book. I give this one 3/5

List of films featured:
Oldboy
Sympathy for Mr/Lady Vengence
Joint Security Area
The Bow
Samaritan Girl
3 Iron
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring
Bad Guy
The Isle
Shiri
Brotherhood
R-Point
My Sassy Girl
Attack The Gas Station
Nowhere to HIde

R-Point was nothing special when I watched it a few weeks back - I would place it just above Deathwatch!
DelicatessenA good, imaginative, inventive, clever, very entertaining, very strange film, with an interesting story, and a hint of Terry Gilliam throughout. The movie also has some very interesting and enjoyable to watch characters. Delicatessen on the whole though didn’t really seem to amount to much in the end, and I felt that the interesting story and characters were never really utilised to their full potential. That said the film is a lot of fun to watch, and recommended viewing if you ever get the chance to see it.
(***)
VisitorsAn entertaining movie, with an interesting story (of a yachtswoman who begins to lose her mind while alone at sea on an around the world voyage), and a good and capable cast (including Radha Mitchell (who puts in a good performance in the main role and focal point of the film), Susannah York, Ray Barrett and Dominic Purcell). It is a very strange film though, where reality and fantasy start to mix together, and Radha Mitchell starts to see and talk to the dead. The film can also be somewhat confusing and is slow paced, but it is enjoyable enough and passes 90-minutes.

Fun with Dick and Jane
No fun at all. Tried to be a comedy but wasn't funny enough, when I watch a Jim Carrey film I either want Jim Carrey from Dumb and Dumber or Ace Ventura or I want the Jim Carrey from The Truman Show or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, not some watered down bullshit that any old Hollywood actor could have played. I enjoyed the caper element towards the end of the film and if they'd stuck with this route they could have made a better film rather than a comedy.

Garden State - I had been meaning to see this film for a long time now and I finally got round to buying it the other day. I watched it yesterday and I must say, it's been a long long time since a film has stuck with me like this one has. One of the best films I've seen in a long time and definitely one I'll go back to again. Highest possible recommendation from me.
Pleasantville - I'm not a fan of either Toby Macguire or Reese Witherspoon, but I really liked this one. At first glance it seems like just another standard comedy, but it's actually a really interesting commentary on life in the 50's and how change affects people in different ways. Some really amusing moments and good performances all round. Highly recommended.

Antz
The oft forgotten cgi animation and from the same branch that gave you Shrek and Shark Tale, this however, is not a kids film. It actually tries to make a political and social point with Z, the worker ant, fighting against oppression in his fascist environment. All of this will go over kids heads. Yes it lacked the wonderment, humour and human touch that Toy Story has but it shouldn't be watched as a kids film, watch it as an animation and you'll find it rewarding to watch.

And it was considerably better than A Bugs Life too.
Underworld Evolution
Bad, just bad. Not alot of positives in the film, with poor acting, a poor script (& diologue), mostly poor CGI, a story which goes off in so many different tangents but at the same time leads to nothing (and can easily become very confusing), and mostly un-watchable action scenes. An early contender for worst film of the year!

Really excellent American Football film with themes about capturing your youth and stuff all entwined. The small documentary on the DVD about the players (it's based on a true story) was one of the few DVD extras I have actually thought was worth watching.

Saw Match Point yesterday. I thought it was a good film though without spoiling it, seemed to veer off in a totally unexpected path towards the end. Still I enjoyed it as I have generally enjoyed the films Scarlett Johannson has been in, and it was good to see some quality British actors such as Brian Cox and Penelope Wilton on the big screen.
Overall i'd give it 8/10.
Also yesterday I watched Airport. As a big fan of disaster movies, I enjoyed this. I was pleasantly surprised to find that unlike other disaster movies it wasn't directly focused on just the disaster but also spent a good deal of time building up the characters and having alot going on but without making it confusing. I'd recommend it.
8/10 again.
