Oh yeah, forgot about that. I would hardly call it destressing.
I'm currently rewatching Band of Brothers off DVD, and it really is absolutely incredible. Top 5 tv series of all time, IMO. It's only 10 episodes though, they could have made 20 and it wouldn't have got old.

In which case you'll be happy to know they've got a follow up currenly in development... Same team working on it, and the style/format is the same, but it's not called Band of Brothers.

It's currently called The Pacific and should be released next year. Like Band of Brothers was based on the book of the same name by Steven E Ambrose this will be based on the memoirs of two US Marines (Eugene Sledge and Robert Leckie) who served in the Pacific Theatre of Operations.
It's going to star Joe Mazzello and James Badge Dale (Chase in series 3 of 24) as Sledge and Leckie. Jon Seda, who played Dino Ortolani in Oz, will also star as a third main character.
Unfortunatly the two authors passed away a few years ago so I don't think we'll see as many interviews with the veterans of the stories which is what gave Band of Brothers such a real feeling. Hopefully with the same team working on it though it will still be a decent series.
In Bruges. Absolutely amazing, the best film I've seen this year so far.

I can understand why people wouldn't like it but I loved it.
Yeah I liked it too. I wasn't expecting too since it only gets about 3/10 on the IMDB but I watched it yesterday and laughed a few times and generally enjoyed it.
I had the misfortune of sitting through a movie called Balls Of Fury the other day.

Down-and-out former professional ping-pong phenom, Randy Daytona (Dan Fogler), is sucked into a maelstrom when FBI Agent Ernie Rodriguez (George Lopez) recruits him for a secret mission. Randy is determined to bounce back and win, and to smoke out his father's killer -- arch-fiend Feng (Christopher Walken)
Awful. Just awful. American humour at it's worst. Highlights include a blind man being tricked into having sex with a male sex slave, George Lopez progressively (de)evolving into a typical Latino stereotype (ironically Lopez turned down a role in Desperado because he doesn't want to be in films that promoted negative images of Latinos), asian people not being able to pronounce common English words properly and countless other shitty 'jokes' that I've forcibly repressed from my memory. I cried tears of blood when I saw Walken hamming it up in this celluloid abortion.
In you enjoyed garbage like Euro Trip then this movie will keep you gurgling mindlessly in your highchair for hours. For everyone else, avoid.

Band of Brothers is (was) one of my favourite TV shows. I have it on DVD too and it never gets old. My mate got me into it so as a reward for her I got her a Christmas present that made her speechless. I tracked down some authentic BoB autographs (16 in all) and got them framed. A few of the better known names are missing but she still got Compton, Shifty Powers, "One Lung" McLung, Perconte, Luz and a few others.
On topic - I had to endure aeroplane films recently. On the way out we got 27 Dresses (yawn) and The Water Horse (I did actually cry in this). On the way back we got National Treasure: Book of Secrets (not that bad actually, how Indiana Jones
should have been) and Alvin and the Chipmonks (funny in places but a no-brainer).

Saw Adulthood the other day after finding out my local VUE was no longer showing Harold and Kumar 2

.
WOW is all I can say! what a follow up to Kidulthood. Fantastic film and highly recommend It to anybody who has seen Kidulthood and enjoyed it. The film basically follows on from the previous film 6 years on, when Sam is released from jail after serving his time. All the other characters are revisited and its great to see how they have all moved on with their lives.
Im not a great reviewer so wont go into massive detail but i loved everything about this film. Great plot, great acting, fantastic cinematography and a decent score to fit the film. Interesting characters that you actually care about come the end of the film, and the ending itself was well done. Plenty of laugh out loud moments too!
I was looking forward to seeing Harold and Kumar but Im glad now i saw this instead!
Oh and for those of you who may be worried about the fact that Danny Dyer is involved in the project, have no fears, he is in it for a total of 5-10 minutes.

The Ruins
Falls into the so bad, it's funny territory. Three reasons for laughs.
1. Plants making a noise like a mobile phone.
2. Plants talking like munchkins.
3. A guy getting his leg chopped off.
Not only these things of course, but the sub plots that develop before they head for the ruines are so generic you just have to laugh. Unfortunately, this movie has no redeeming factors apart from that. I suppose that if you like gore you can watch this and get a degree of enjoyment of it. I just like a good horror. This is not a good horror.

I saw Indiana Jones 4 again at the weekend and enjoyed it just as much as I did the first time around
Also, in the last month I've rented Superbad, Flight of the Living Dead, Cloverfield and Death Proof
Superbad was very funny but I kept expecting something to actually happen which, for anyone who's seen it knows, never materialized.
Flight of the Living Dead was everything I was expecting and less. Think Snakes on a Plane + any George Romero film except not very good at all.
Cloverfield was a LOT better in the cinema. For those that have got the latest home cinema set-ups you'll probably enjoy it but I was watching it on a 5 year old TV with no surround sound and it paled greatly to how much I enjoyed it when I saw it at the flicks.
Death Proof was okay when Kurt Russell was on screen but I found myself fast-fowarding through large chunks near the beginning as it was akin watching an episode of Sex and the City. Probably one more for the ladettes than most guys.
I'm looking forward to seeing Hancock when it comes out despite some early negative reviews I've seen online.

I saw this at the weekend, didnt quite know what to make of it.
The storyline/plot had little direction, it was by no means a horror film and was nearer to a comedy yet seeing blood everywhere wasnt pleasant either.
Came across like a 'Scary Movie' type comedy that wasn't funny.
Weird film.
One thing I will say though is that the reactions of laughter in the cinema at some of the scenes were louder than some comedy films I have been to see.
Have also heard they are making 4 versions of the film...
Saw 'Wanted' tonight.
Really enjoyed it, some great special effects and a generally cool film I thought. Dont want to say too much, but its probably one of the best films ive seen in the cinema this year thats for sure.
watched a few yesterday...
Super Size Me - finally got to see it all, it's a very entertaining doc. and it does give some pretty horrific facts about the fast food industry, but it pretty much gives the conclusion of 'fast food is ok, as long as its eaten in moderation', which is common sense at the end of the day. Still it's entertaining. Gotta love Spurlock's dedication.
Ice Age - again, a film id seen half of before, so i watched it all. I love these animated films, always entertaining, loveable characters and all that shit. This is one of the best ones, Scrat's a legend. Gotta watch no. 2 now.
Freebird - British biker/comedy movie. Standard type of stoner comedy but with a very british slant on it. It ain't a classic by any stretch of the imagination but it's an easy enough quick watch. If your a brit. comedy fan i'd recommend it.

I watched The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy recently. Loved them, really good films. Damon is absolutely awesome as Jason Bourne. Love the German girl who plays Maria, she's beautiful and believable. It's a really clever tale, acting is superb and there's lots of intrigue throughout. The score is amazing, particularly at the end of the Russian car chase scene. unusually, I think the sequel is the better of the two films too.
Can't wait to see the third one.

Watched No Country For Old Men last night. **SPOILERS FORTHCOMING**
I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. I found it quite enthralling but i think I made the mistake of thinking the film was about Lwellyn Moss when it really wasn't. I was hooked on his journey to keep the money and when he died, the film died for me. It's not often you see a film where evil prvails but I suppose that's the whole point.
The acting was incredible. The bad guy, Chugger, or whatever his name was, was one of the most scary people I've ever seen. It was fantastically shot and well written. The silence was incredible at some points and made the outdoor scenes genuinally worrying. In truth, it's not really my sort of film, but I thought it was excellent for it was.
Edit: Seriously annoying that I can't find other people's opinions on the film!!

National Treasure 2 last night and I was slightly disapointed, it brings nothing new to the table from NT1 which was a good little adventure film but NT2 follows exactly the same format, and what makes it even sadder is that they have left it well and truly open for a third film which will no doubt be exactly the same.
I didn't know what to make of
No Country For Old Men, I loved the film and thought it was brilliantly acted with some nice dialogue, but I need closure on my films, I want to know what happened to Chigurh and the ending just comes so out of the blue that I wasn't prepared for an end and was left a bit bemused. oh well.

No Country For Old Men Cheers, just read through the entire thread from that point. I'd like to read a bit more from Mr Seven on the ending, it seems like he's the only one who liked it. I didn't hate it, but agree with JFFC, I like the closure, I want to know what happened next.
I loved it from start to finish, if that's any help Rick. I can't find my post on it though as Search is still fucked for me.
On the ending, I'll pose this for you to think about. When does anything ever really come to an end? For most of the characters left alive in that film, life will go on. Chigurh is a professional hitman that will continue to do his job. Only for Tommy Lee Jones' character have things really come to an end - disillusioned with his ability to change anything for the better, he's retired and faces a long slow deterioration to death. His only solace is that all old men go through this at the end of their life, when they have ceased to have anything to give society - hence the title, No Country For Old Men.
The book is the last of a trilogy, and as such its ending wraps up a whole metaphysical contemplation of the changing nature of life on the old Frontier in America, so what you get in the screen version is a conclusion to a far longer story, if you will, than is actually present in the film.
Tristan & Isolde - i picked this up in the christmas sales for a measly few bucks and decided to throw it on. Wasn't expecting much to be honest, but im a sucker for these historical tales so i gave it a whirl. I was genuinely impressed! Nothing like chucking on a movie and being blown away. Pretty simple tale, love-betrayal and all that shit, but i was hooked. Dunno why? I just thought it was great. Ebb recommends.

The Ruins
If any of you have seen Creepshow its basically a 90 minute version of the Stephen King segment from that except with your usual young adult idiots stuck up a ancient temple. I'm partial to crap horror films so I thought this one had its moments. I guess it sort of boils down to if you think planets crawling round inside you is creepy. Some completely unnecessary boob action in the early moments of the film was nice to see. Its a very disposable film and it knows it and certainly wouldn't recommend anyone go out of there way to see it but if your bored and you can get it for a couple of quid you could do worse as long as you understand this is your average crappy horror. It has a pretty ropey non ending which was pretty crap too which was irritating. Better than Captivity and Paradise Lost for me but far worse than many others.

Everyone I know who has seen it doesn't really know what to make of it. To me it seemed like they wanted a story to go with it but it didnt really go anywhere for me, then they build up it up like its a horror movie but certain scenes make you laugh as well, yet theres some parts where as a bloke you just have knightmares of being in that situation.
Guess its one of them films where depending on your gender and take on things you are going to have different views, I guess that because I was unaware of what genre the film was I was unsure of what to expect and I think thats caught quite a few people out...some expected a horror and got a comedy...a weird one, but then again considering the nature of the film its always going to be a strange one.

Fractured
Not really a thriller, as we know who did it, and not really a courtroom drama, but somewhere in between. Very enjoyable story about Anthony Hopkins killing his wife, and then trying to get out of being prosecuted for it.
I don't want to say too much, as it's one of those stories that unravels, and spoilers would really ruin it.
It's a bargain bin DVD though, so definately worth picking up.

Caddyshack = Cindy Morgan's tits.

Zoolander only had one gag in it that made me snigger (the one about him not being able to turn right, and then turning 270 degrees left). The rest was shit, and just showed how limited an actor Ben Stiller is.

The first hour is superb, I could listen to the dialogue between Seth & Evan all day. But once that weirdo took them to that house party I started to lose interest in their story and the second half wasn't quite as good. But McLovin hanging around with the cops was greatness.
So overall it was a very funny film, but could have been better.

Pretty much what i thought. Good teen comedy but could've been a lot better. I thought Knocked Up was much better than this. Incidentally i saw the trailer for Seth Rogans next film today, Pineapple Express i think, with James Franco. Looks a bit crap, so i'll give it a miss probably.
I saw Wanted this afternoon. Pretty damn fun action film with lots of cool shoot-y stuff and stunts. A probable dvd purchase.

I watch 2 really good films at the weekend. The bourne Ultimatum, which is excellent. I can't remember seeing a trilogy of films that continues to get better and better as it goes on. The dialogue, the detail and the Bourne character are incredible.
Also saw Lucky Number Slevin, which is really good too. Fantaastic acting is at the heart of it, but the script is witty and the concept is carried off pretty seamlessly. Hartnett is a revelation. Lucy Lui is foxy with a capital FOXY.
I wasn't interested in Superbad at all when it first came out but myself and the girlfriend decided to pick it up at Blockbuster one bored night because so many people had given it great reviews. We were both even more bored after 30 minutes.
There were some very funny bits, especially those with McLovin, but the rest really did not interest me at all, maybe im just getting too old for these sort of films. One the other hand though. We absolutly loved Knocked Up and were pleasently surprised by it.

I watched "Next" starring Nicolas Cage this weekend. I also watched "National Treasure 2" starring Nicolas Cage.
I hate Nicolas Cage, btw.
Next was hilariously stupid and quite fun ( I wouldn't watch it again or reccomend it, though); you could tell it was totally the kind of thing that Nic Cage thought "wow this film is really clever and deep". National Treasure 2 was a lot of fun for the puzzles and action. Lots of plot holes and bad acting as expecting, but I didn't really care... it's kind of like Indiana Jones-ish in its premise, but not as good (I haven't seen the first one, but assuming it's pretty much the exact same thing, I'd happily kill a couple hours watching it).
In conclusion, I think everyone should go watch "In the Name of the King".
