Wonderful film, the subtitling doesn't matter because you get drawn into the story so easily and the visuals will satisfy anyone's eyeballs. Really enjoyed it.

Herbie Fully Loaded. Not as fun as the old Herbie films - the car's actions are overdone due to cgi, but Lindsay Lohan would get both inches. I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it but there are worse ways to spend 90mins.
**Spoiler**
Herbie wins.
House of 9
Plot: Nine complete strangers are drugged and placed in a sealed house together. Once there, a mysterious voice on an intercom tells them that they have been entered into a competition to win five million dollars. Additionally, the winner will win his or her freedom...
An entertaining and enjoyable film, which is slow (with little happening) for the first half of the movie, before the action picks up in the second half (and when the action does come it is pretty bloody). There is too much unnecessary swearing in the film though, which for the most part seems out of place. The film has a good and interesting idea, but it is never really utilised to the full extent, and nothing is really explained in the end. It does have a very good last 15-minutes though, with a great ending. Dennis Hopper is good, Kelly Brook is perfectly acceptable in her role, and the other 7 main cast members are all acceptable as well. In the end House of 9 reminded me mostly of Cube, and you can see inspirations the director and writer had from other films (including the likes of the Cube films, Battle Royale, My Little Eye, and to some extent Saw 2). Worth watching if you liked the other films mentioned, give it a miss otherwise.

Today ive been watching
Wake Up Ron Burgundy: The Lost Story
From IMDB : This "alternate film" companion to _Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004)_ was compiled from dropped sub-plots and alternate takes. While Ron Burgundy's rivalry with Veronica Corningstone continues, a group of unprofessional theives better known as 'The Alarm Clock' try to make the truth known, whatever that may be.
Really good (if you like the actual film obv) and its good to see more Ron Burgundy material than you got in anchorman considering it was made from dropped material its quite impressive that they made a story out of it , anyhoo you should look it up
Shocker - Wes Craven is one of the most weirdly inconsistent directors ever, the dude is responsible for horror classics like A Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream, he's also put out some of the most gritty, disturbing horror movies ever in Last House on The Left & The Hills Have Eyes...he also makes movie like Shocker, which truth be said is fucking terrible, but in a goofy entertaining way. The film is about a guy who gets killed by electric chair, who's spirit is passed into any person that it comes in contact with (something to do with the electricity apparently), and he goes after the boy who put him in the chair. It's a pretty cool idea, but the film is packed with shitty dialogue, gammy effects and some painful over-acting by Peter Berg... that said it's still kinda fun, shit but fun.

I'm currently making my way through The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe DVD of the TV series.
After watching the new Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe yesterday I can say that although it might look nicer, the new film doesn't match up to the TV series at all. At least the TV version had kids who could actually act.

Thank you. The viewer is supposed to care about the 4 children (and be behind them), yet throughout (and certainly by the end) I wanted to see them all killed; especially the youngest girl!

Wolf Creek
Good Austrailian horror film. Well it's not so much horror as it is a chiller, but either way it's pretty disturbing and quite gruelling. Not to give too much away, but the bad guy is kind of a stereotype, almost caricature, but once he starts to show his mean streak, well things get very serious. He reminds me of Jim Sidedow's character in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre , only even more brutal.
Great film, not a "jumpy" horror but a disturbing, psychological one that kinda leaves you with a bad feeling. Check it out.

I thought it "sucked" because outside of the last 20-minutes or so no alot happens and it is so very boring! I will probably give it another chance when it comes out on DVD in January, but I was not impressed watching it at the cinema...

Boondock Saints was viewed for the 2nd time last week, an absolute gem of a film, very under rated.
Layer Cake
A great film from the producer of Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. It has a very good cast (including Daniel Craig, Colm Meaney, Sienna Miller, Michael Gambon), great acting, is funny, dark and violent, and has a good soundtrack. The story is also great (it is interesting, compelling, but could be somewhat confusing to some), and the movie has a great ending.
The 2-disc DVD has very good extras, including a director and writer commentary, over 20-minutes of deleted scenes and 2 alternative endings (the ending used in the film has the most impact, and is the best of the three available), a very interesting 20-minute Q&A with Daniel Craig and Matthew Vaughn(the director), storyboard comparisons, a music video, a photo gallery, and trailers.

(It is on Sky TV (starting) Friday 23rd December, so give it a look if you like films in the style of Lock Stock or Snatch)

I'm sorry, but Layer Cake is one of the worst films of this decade. The story is not interesting, the acting is terrible and the ending isn't great, it's a pathetic tack-on and it's obvious Matthew Vaughan just watched Carlito's Way before he filmed said scene. Difference is we give a shit about Carlito Brigante, whereas Daniel "I can't act" Craig's "xxxx" character is an undeveloped twat.

I missed the King Kong posts. But still, it's clear to me that Mr Seven is passionate about films (he posts in most film threads if he hasn't already created them himself) and has a clear belief/opinion in what constitues a film being good. He's given his reasons why he thought Layer Cake was shit. You could reply and say why you disagree and tell him what makes it a good film. This is a discussion forum afterall. Or do you just hate his tastes in general? Do you get pissed off when a film critic slates a film you enjoyed and write them a letter saying 'that's just your opinion though.'?
Maybe he did present them as facts. People do that on this forum. Penis Believer and El Supremo do it all the time. It's generally just because they strongly believe one thing one way or the other and are generally pretty stubborn over it. It's still obviously their opinion. So debate it. Prove them wrong and argue their points.

Watched Narnia yesterday. I really enjoyed it, as many people have said the kids acting was shite but at some moments I got so into the film my jaw was dropping.
Everyone knows the story but you can't imagine the great fight scene just by reading the book, worth a watch just for the battle scene.
Also saw Pumping Iron, the bodybuilding documentary that shot Arnie into the limelight. Really fascinating documentary that anyone who doesn't know anything about bodybuilding (me) can get into and enjoy.

I've watched a few DVDs over Christmas:
Jimmy Carr: Stand up.
Very funny, I really like Jimmy. It wasn't as good as last years DVD, but it still had some fantastic moments, his rapport with the audience is great.
The Descent.
Really good horror movie although I thought the beginning and the end were a little off. It had some genuinely scary moments.
War of the Worlds.
OK movie, I thought it was good in places, the plane wreckage etc, but very poor in others, the scene in Tim Robbins' basement. Two things that annoyed me a little were the firstly the fact that the people were out running what was giant machines, but they all stayed together in large groups, it didn't make sense. Secondly the scene in the basement where the aliens appeared, it spoilt the end and took away what the aliens were like.
Lee Evans: XL Tour live.
Awesome, I was rolling around laughing in places, this is one of his best DVDs by far.

I just watched The Devil’s Rejects, and up until today I was wondering what my worst film of the year was. I’ve now found it.
The movie is complete rubbish, full of completely pointless gratuitous violence, with no redeeming qualities at all, I can’t believe I wasted £12 on this tosh. To be honest I though house of 1000 corpses was ok in a Texas Chainsaw kind of way, but the Rejects movie was terrible.
Easily the worst film I’ve seen all year.

Watched King Kong and Sideways yesterday. 2 completely different films but I enjoyed them both just as much. King Kong is an amazing fantasy that takes you out of your seat and puts your mind in a box and left to forget about.
But, Sideways was wonderful. It was funny and interesting and endearing and relatable. Loved both of them.

Ong Bak - I went into this expecting a jaw dropping, mindblowing movie and was disappointed. Great film of course, but I was probably expecting the impossible. The story wasn't very interesting but the action scenes were exciting.
Kids - Holy Jesus this was awful. A kid bones a girl, he goes to a friend's house, they hang out with friends, they have a party. Very thrilling. The HIV angle was horribly underdeveloped and the whole film was very flat. And the way Tully talked and his ridiculous flimsy facial and body movements really fucking bugged me.
Baise-Moi - Thriller? A woman kills her mate for no reason, she hooks up with another woman and they kill people for the fuck of it. The acting wasn't up to much, though I suppose that's what happens when you cast ex-porn stars. I came out of this movie wondering why the sex scenes were real when they added nothing, and hell, wondering why they even bothered with the movie at all. Utter wank.

That's what I thought. They were allowed to show hardcore real sex on TV because apparently the movie is "art". The film is not art, it's fucking shit.
Hide And Seek - decent little thriller, i dont think this deserved the panning it got in all the movie mags. Dakota Fanning is a great little actress, she pretty much runs the show here. The ending was a little flat and predictable though, still a pretty good 90mins.
