Ginger Snaps
A very good film, which is bloody at times, and has a good and interesting story. The film also has very good special effects (especially the werewolf effects), good dark humour throughout, and good acting from the main cast (in particular Katherine Isabelle and Emily Perkins as the two main sisters Ginger and Brigitte).
The DVD has some good extras, including a couple of short but interesting featurettes, screen tests, production notes, cast notes, and a trailer.
(***1/2)
Ginger Snaps 2
A good film, which has an interesting story, and which continues pretty much where the last film left off. Like the first Ginger Snaps movie it is bloody at times, and has hints of dark humour throughout. There is a slow pace to the film for the first 45-minutes, but thereafter the action picks up. The film also has an interesting, if mildly disappointing (inconclusive) ending, which allows for a sequel to be made in the future. There are good special effects and good acting from the cast (in particular Emily Perkins as Brigitte, and Tatiana Maslany as the (at times) annoying yet interesting new character Ghost). Not as good as the original Ginger Snap film, but still a good and worthwhile sequel (even if it is still not explained where the Werewolves came from).
The DVD has some good extras, including over 10-minutes of deleted scenes, audition clips, a short “The Beast is Built” behind the scenes featurette, storyboards, and a trailer.
(***)
Ginger Snaps 3
A good film, on-par with the second film (somewhat better at times), but not as good as the first Ginger Snaps (it does have a very good last 15-minutes of action though). Like the first two Ginger Snaps films it is bloody at times, and has an interesting story. There are good special effects, very good sets, and good acting from the cast (in particular Katherine Isabelle and Emily Perkins as the two main sisters Ginger and Brigitte). A worthwhile prequel to the Ginger Snaps series, which tries to answer a few questions, but in the end explains very little (it still doesn’t really give much insight into where the Werewolves came from)!
The DVD has some good extras (the best of the three Ginger Snaps DVD’s), including over 10-minutes of deleted scenes, a directors video diary, “Wolfboy” featurette, “Blood, Gut & Fire” featurette, Production Design, Fun on Set, Costume Design, and a trailer.

For fucks sake Supremo thats two days in a row you've spoiled something for me now! Although does that really count as a spoiler!? I had a feeling it was going that wasy anyway...
...either way...you've made yourself a very powerful enemy!
Apologies. Although it's hardly a spoiler considering it's common knowledge there's a second series. I've tagged my posts anyway. You might want to edit yours if you think it's a major spoiler.

Watched both Saw and Saw 2 on Sunday. Both great films, with Saw one of my top 5 films of 2004, and Saw 2 one of the best films of 2005!

For all the people in this topic *I think* who asked about American Pie: Band Camp. This is a dreaded straight to DVD/VHS release according to the Sun TV Guide. Out on Monday. Destined to be shite, only person I recognise on the cover is Eugene Levy.
Just finished watching Band Camp. The Sherminator is also on the cover.
Wasnt too bad. Had a couple of laughable moments, but the main character, the brother of Stifler, does try to be too much like the original Stifler character, at the start of the film anyway. Plus point was it was steered away from the American Pie series, and had me forgetting it was an American Pie film halfway through. Type of film immature teens and adults will enjoy, but seems to be more of a kids film. The only thing that annoyed me after reading IMDB was that Finch is listed to make a cameo, but wasnt seen during film of deleted scenes, as I was waiting for him to pop up. Plus Eugene Levi's character is just so out of place in this film, as amusing as he is.
So if you just want a silly teen sex comedy with tits in the shower you might enjoy this.
Is the Sherminator in the flick? I saw him on the cover today, it almost made me buy it.

Cujo - old Stephen King adaptation about a dog that gets bitten by a bat and goes apeshit...
this film is definatly a love it/hate it affair, there's not much in the way of a story and its very slow paced, but the whole scene of the mother/child trapped in the car whilst being attacked by Cujo (which last the whole last 3rd of the film) is pretty fucking scary, jammed this on loud on my surround sound and the whole dog growling, kid's crying and woman's screaming makes for fairly uncomfortable viewing. And whilst this film is over twenty years and without a sniff of cgi insight the dog attacks are very realistic looking...
i enjoyed it...not for everyone though.
This past Saturday i went to UCI cinema to watch a "Halloween Movie Mystery Night"
We paid £10 and watched four films in a row. Started at 6:30pm and ended just before 3am
We saw -
1. Alien
2. Dawn Of The Dead (when the certificate came up it was for "Zombies", which i thought was what it was called in Europe?)
3. The Exorcist
4. Saw
Wasn't too dissapointed with that selection.

Nice one, I'll be watching this.
I've only just got around to watching
50 First Dates. I think it is brilliant, probably in my favourite top 20 films of all time. I watched it, thought it was good, then watched it again and thought it was brilliant. Lots of laughs.
The Cube - A few of my mates recommended this to me. I thought it was shit. It didn't make any sense, and not in a good way like Donnie Darko. What the hell was the cube made for? Why were those people in it?
I demanded answers from my friends that told me to watch this film, only for them to tell me to go and watch the prequel, Cube Zero. Balls to that.
The Perfect Score - I thought I was going to like this film, as I usually do like teen comedy films. This was a bit of a letdown though. There were no moments that made me laugh out loud, even that stoner kid.

I love The Cube. Great movie, awesome tension building script and great interplay between the characters.
Plus, Nicole De Boer
Ong Bak - Awesome. Hard hitting Muay Thai. Main guy in it is incredible.
House of Flying Daggers - Awesome film that pisses over Crouching Tiger. Made me emotional.

Of course it is! Finer acting, much, much nicer to look at, better story and lusher fight scenes. HOFD was very good, but Hero smokes it.

I hated Hero with a passion. It's like they spent all their time trying to make the film look good and forgot to make me care about what happens to the characters or give it an interesting script.
It's too artsy-fartsy, without anything to give it meaning.
It's the difference between the 'character attachment' that has me going for Flying Daggers over Hero too. When the twists come in Flying Daggers I cared about them by that point whereas in Hero it was just Tarratino-style, sort of done for the sake of it.
Hero did have finer acting. Artistic wise they both seemed pretty on par with each other.
Also saw Kung Fu Hustle recently. That was pretty cool. Funny and OTT action!

Couldn't get to sleep because of my insomnia so I watched "The Exorcist 3" on Channel 4 last night. Loved it. Its not like the first two in that in this one George C. Scott has to find the "Gemini" killer who is possessed by the devil or something. Excellent film. Very, very creepy, especially near the end where the possessed nurse tries to cut off Scott's daughters head off with a surgical saw or something.
Very creepy. I was shocked by its goodness.
I taped Dawn of the Dead in the week and I settled down to watch it last night. It was reasonably enjoyable, no real surprises but during the credits the recording stopped

Would anybody care to fill me in from where I left off?

Just back from seeing two films at my local kino. The two films being..
The Brothers Grimm - Only film that started as soon as I went into the cinema. Wasn't very good at all. Worst film I've seen in a wee while, probably since Oceans 12. God that sucked.
Second film was a manga effort called Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence. I didn't think I would like it at all due to the subtitles at the bottom but how wrong I was. Tremendous. I could see me being right into manga now.
/me kisses his Cineworld card.
I watched Doom today. Better than what i expected and had a different plot than what i expected.
I Saw Cinderella Man in the cinema in the other day. Apart from Zellweger, I thought the film was excellant. It is easy to overlook actually how good Crowe's performance is. Roger Ebert said that most good films are filled with bad people, cynism and irony while most bad films have good hearted characters in them. Crowe manages to potray a completely nice character that was believable and free of irony - deserves an Oscar nom at least.

I tried watching The Howling last night, it was fucking terrible and bored me shitless, I usually watch a movie to the very end to make sure but I turned this on about 10 minutes before the end because I really didn't care and it was pissing me off. The special effects sucked and the story was shit.

I went to see it earlier today. It is somewhat fun and watachable at times, but there is not real spark to the film, the story is basic, and the CGI for the most part is poor and out-of-place...

Saw The Constant Gardener the other night, quite slow to get into at the begining and the film moves too fast in some places and too slow in others and was a bit boring at the start for a while, but looking back it's quite a good emotional film.
I also watched Ella Enchanted on DVD, a fairy tale with modern social values. Not a bad film really with a few funny spots, oh and I only really watched it for Parminder Nagra's two minutes of footage.
Hotel Rwanda.
An absolutely awesome movie about the begining of the Rwandan conflict in 1994. This is a very powerful and brutal movie withou having to rely on bloody and brutal scenes. The main moving scenes are subtley barbaric, scenes like a whole Tutsi family lying dead on their lawn, the abused Tutsi women in the cage and most of all the road strewn with the bodies of men, women and children.
A harrowing and shocking movie, but has great moments of courage and selflessness too.
Highly recomended.

I watched American Pie 4 last night. I liked it. When I saw it was straight to DVD, I thought it'd be crap but it's not. The concept is tired, but it's better then a lot of films that have been on at the cinema.
It's the usual teen gross out movie, with a love interest that builds. Like the first 2, the gross bits form the bulk of the comedy, but there is some decent humour in there and the love angle is so sweet it's sickly.
A good film for the market it's aimed at, but like I say, the concept has been done to death. The lead actress is very pretty and like-able. Stiffler's brother is a good match, looks-wise, and if you take out the forced, gratuitous swearing, he does pretty well.
The way they've forced in Eugene Levy is pretty naff, and he's really not as funny as before. Overall, it's a good effort and I don't think it does too much damage to the brand, but it is time to leave it be.
On the straight to DVD aspect. I quite liked it. As someone who doesn't care for the cinema, it saved waiting.
Decent watch if you don't take yourself too seriously and you have 90 mins to kill.

Only Jims Dad and The Sherminator. Jims Dad plays the kind of guidance teacher of band camp, which is explained as being Michelle's job, but she was pregnant so Jims dad fills in for her. Sherminator only has 2 brief appearences as the school guidance teacher at the start and end of the film.
As I stated in my previous post, IMDB have Finch listed as a cameo, but doesnt appear in any scene or the credits.
Edit: Just forgot to mention that I was disapointed that Stiflers Mum didnt even appear. Thinking that the story is about the school forcing her son to go to band camp, you would think she would appear in at least one scene when Matt Stifler is was at home.
I watched Elizabethtown this weekend.
It was a good feel-good movie, not a romantic comedy but still one for the ladies although both sexes will enjoy it, the story was well told if completely unrealistic but ended being a likeable film which after the reviews its got was surprising.

Watched Eternal Sunshine on DVD for the first time since I saw it at the cinema. Still very, very good but loses something after the second watching I think. Still, a great film worth watching if you haven't already.
Also watched Episode III on DVD for the first time since the cinema. And I enjoyed it just as much. Probably more. It's brilliant, the last 20-30 minutes are my favourite 20-30 minutes doing anything ever. Say what you want about Episodes 1 and 2 and I'll understand why (even though I personally enjoyed them, even fi they didn't feel especially OT-ish) but Episode III is STAR WARS. Especially from the scene where Anakin pledges allegiance to Sidious and becomes 'knighted' as Vader. Watched A new Hope after it and I could just see Christensen's mangled, older body inside the Vader costume, except you feel a tragic, sad sympathy for him, unlike the first time you watched Episode 4.
Also watched Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou for the first time, and it's brilliant. It's funny and sad with some absolutely beautiful scenes. Director Wes Anderson is just brilliant (he wrote it as well, so he's doubly brilliant), and this is better than Royal Tenenbaums. And Bill Murray's in the film, and, let's be honest, he's the best actor of all time not to be called the best actor of all time.
