My favourite Maiden song has got to be the live version of 'Fear of the Dark' from Rock in Rio.

Exodus' 'Bonded by Blood'
Doubleplus good!
Can't say I like the stuff with the new vocalist. Zetro fucking slayed, but the rest of the band seem to think he was a complete cunt. Tempo of the Damned is another bloody good album. One or two low points, but Sealed with a Fist, Shroud of Urine, Scar Spangled Banner, Culling the Herd and War is my Shepherd are great tracks.
Any love for Vital Remains?

Just heard a new Immolation song, 'Majesty and Decay'. Very Morbid Angel esque, I approve wholeheartedly! Ross Dolan is one of my favorite Death Metal vocalists.
Love Vital Remains. Always get goosebumps when I hear Dechristianize. 'Let Us Pray is a true Death Metal classic though.

been having a death metal day today ready for Decapitated on monday here the list i ve what i went through
Morbid Angel-Alters Of Madness
Obituary-Two From The Valult (which is Slowly We Rot and Cause Of Death realesed together)
Malevolent Creation-The Best Of (a collection by roadrunner)
Decapitated-Nihility
Cannibal Corpse-Live Cannibalism
Vader-Revelations
im going through Napalm Death's back catalogue in reverse. I got into em when Smear Campaign came out, and now im working backwards. Fucking great band. In terms of agression and intensity they flatten any of the newer extreme bands.

Yeah they are my favourites when it comes to Extreme Metal bands ND's album Scum influenced alot of it too but I liked the progression into Death Metal, just all around great, along with Blotted Science which is like Cannibal Corpse but without vocals..an instrumental band in other words they just make death metal sounding music.

In some interesting metal news, David Ellefson has rejoined Megadeth after leaving in 2002. Pretty cool to have him back, will be good to see him at Donington. They're about to do a short tour in the states celebrating the 20th anniversary of Rust in Peace in which they're gong to play the whole album, I'd love to see that.

I fucking LOVE Megadeth. That they might play the whole of Rust In Peace at Download is mind-blowing.

Feb 9 2010, 10:24
I think it's pretty unlikey for download as they probably ony have 45/50 minute set time, but hopefully they do it over here. They haven't toured on Endgame here yet either so there'll be something in the works. I love hearing complete albums live, Tallica doing Master of Puppets back in '06 was awesome.

I haven't heard any Megadeth since Risk. Is it just the one album since then? Is it good??
Whilst I'm on Megadeth - I lost my copy of Youthanasia recently so went to replace it with a download. I could only find the remastered version, and the mastering sucks

Harvey Dent
Feb 9 2010, 10:41
Since Risk there's been:
The World Needs A Hero - has it's moments, but the production sounds flat
The System Has Failed - pretty good, back to a more familiar sound
United Abominations - very good, bar a rehash of A Tout Le Monde. Burnt Ice is one of my favourite songs they've done
Endgame - didn't like it at first and thought it just sounded like RIP leftovers, but it's REALLY grown on me and worth checking out
the last 3 are ones Dave has done since his nerve injury and are more "megadeth" sounding after Risk and Cryptic Writings and the like. As you've found out, you can only get the remasters now of the older records which kind of sucks.I just have both versions.

I know - but i can dream. A part of me hoped they might get a later slot on the 2nd stage at Download - allowing them to play longer.
In my ideal world Megadeth are easily 2nd stage headliners.

Slayer fucking rule. If you take the big 4 of thrash and i put em in order of how i like em, it goes:
Slayer
Anthrax
Metallica
Megadeth
so fuck y'all Slayer haters!!
i'm weird in that i got into the big 4 and weird times. I was a metal fan long before i became a Slayer & Anthrax fan (if you find that hard to believe). Before the internet it was easy to just skim over bands, and the big 4 were the ones i skimmed (except for perhaps Metallica, but everyone had heard The Black Album).
Megadeth are a band ive never really gotten into. I know i should give them a little more time, because i dont find them as instantly appealing as Slayer. I will download Rust In Peace though and give it my full attention.
Favorite Slayer albums people??? Reign In Blood is the popular choice, but for me it's Seasons In The Abyss & Christ Illusion. This kinda changes from month to month, but im sticking with them at the moment. Heck, i even love the Slayer albums your meant to hate (Diabolus In Musica, Divine Intervention).

Thats the thing with Slayer, for what they are they're ace, but I like a little bit more out of a band to be one of my favourites. They're great to see live and bang your fuckin' head off, but I can't sit and listen to them for hours on end like I can with other bands. I'd have to go with Seasons or Raining as my favourites, but I can pick up any record really. Favourite songs is probably a better go point for me, I like Disciple, South Of Heaven, Angel of Death.
ehhh, i kind of agree. Slayer have tried some different stuff, and when they did they got panned for it. Yet they are the same detractors that pan em for churning out the same stuff over and over.
Fuck it, i love Slayer!!!

It's not really death metal though, really, is it? And not at all like Cannibal Corpse. Apart from Alex Webster having been/still in Cannibal Corpse that's the only link. Blotted Science are a lot more technically efficient and more experimental and sound a hell of a lot cleaner. Have you tried any of Ron Jarzombek's other work? Spastic Ink, being a bit more widdly widdly than Blotted Science and then you have Watchtower, technical thrash from the tail end of the eighties.
Nice to know there are other fans of Blotted Science!
