I thought it was shit, I've heard so many people say it was amazing and moving but it wasn't either.
Whats it like being dead inside?

Admittedly it's not as good as Ultravixens, but it's far from shit.

After reading this months Empire, I got The Day After as it looked like a cracking disaster movie
Wasn't disappointed. Reassuringly bleak, Great cast including John Lithgow and a pre Police Academy Steve(n) Guttenberg
Shows the story of what would happen if 'the bomb' was ever launched in an actual war and the aftermath of cloudburst nuclear attacks in Lawrence, Kansas and surrounding areas. For its version of thermonuclear war it started with tensions in East Germany and escalated there. It's directed by Nicholas Meyer of Star Trek II/VI fame.
Okay, the effects dont hold up nearly 30 years later, but still a good watch and a dramatization of what happens when life is plunged into the dark ages and people die of radiation sickness and fall out is superb.
Made For TV, but apparently strong enough to get President Regan to start thinking about disarmament Fascinating.
I got 'Threads' to watch next as well

So today I watched Sword and The Scorcerer. I first saw this when I was about 13, and loved it. And what's not to love? Heroes with triple bladed swords, monsters doing needlessly gorey things, and boobs. It's a shame some of the optical special effects haven't aged well, as the prosthetic work still looks pretty good.

I watched From Paris with love last night.
Wasn't expecting too much as I knew it was a French production and I'm not really into French style action films (Transporter, Leon etc). Also the main star is John Travolta and he's really hit and miss for me, loved him in Pulp Fiction and especially Face/Off (not easy keeping up with Nicolas Cage). I thought it was really good though, the plot was fast and simple which is how I like my action films Johnathan Rhys Myers was fine in his role but Travolta was awesome, the character was well written but he played it to perfection, he was a proper tough psycho and he really pulled it off, I loved him in it and I'd gladly watch him play that character again.

The first fifteen minutes or so, where he's still on Earth, are every bit as amazing as all the hype. Then it becomes a dull, generic kiddies movie and instantly drops 3 ratings stars.

First of all, Citizen Kane is a classic, Napoleon Dynamite is not and shouldn't even be considered anything like one whether you enjoy it or not.
Secondly, it is shit, it really is.

Just watched Damage with Steve Austin. As has already been said in this thread, it was surprisingly good.
Napolean Dynamite is a movie that will split opinion, i'll be honest in that the first time i saw it my reaction was 'what the fuck!?' but on repeated viewings it just gets funnier and funnier. I love it, but i can see why people don't like it.

I would agree with that as long as it's the UK cut and not the American version. The US version really spoilt my enjoyment of the film, having no voice over, some sub Superman effects on the credits, Spike swearing, and a few other grumbles.

Its been released and chopped up so many times though that it beggars belief.. 4/5 different releases with different companies over less than a decade.. insanity

As sad as it sounds, I have 4 versions of the DVD. (I think 4...) If this is the 2 disc that came in the steel box, I agree it's fantastic as I think it's the one where you don't have to jiggle with the sound to get rid of the shitty new sound effects.

13 to be precise. Well originally it was simply to get the best version. Obviously I wanted a DVD rather than a VHS and then in turn better versions were released on DVD. Now I just like collecting the film. I collect DVDs as it is and this is easily my favourite film. I have no intention of buying a PSP but have the UMD, I figure I'll borrow a mates and watch it one day. From different artwork to different specs they are all different. Thing is with TF the movie there are several different versions of the film flying about and the edits added scenes etc are exactly what the differences are.
Out of all the DVD's listed at
most 3 versions of the movie are the same.. due to cutting widescreen re mastering or whatever..

I have bought the UMD (I have a PSP and like movies on the go!) as well as a couple of versions of the DVD however I have received a number of copies as gifts.
It's strange but to me it doesn't seem like a big deal, but I view people who buy each and every years game in a series (FIFA, SvR, ProEV) as strange, so it's a similar thing I guess.

Watched
Threads over the weekend
Required viewing about a Nuclear attack, bleaker than anything Ive seen on TV/Film for aeons.
Made in 1984 and for BBC originally, some of the effects are well, you'll see, but the actual story line is more like the docudramas you see of today like Vesuvius etc, following the lifes and paths of a couple of people in a bigger picture before the impending doom takes over
Utterly brilliant, will probably be more pertinent to those who were alive when the nuclear threat was 'greater', living not a million miles away from one of the biggest USAF airbases during the whole kit and caboodle didnt help things, vaguely remember us having a nuclear drill at school, not like it would matter

Recommend this to every one to watch.
i saw Threads years ago, horrible movie to watch (not as in bad)...i'd love to have been old enough to remember it when it first aired, caused outrage back in the day.
I actually got reminded of it through this months Empire Magazine, there's a piece in there about the The Day After, which is basically like an American version of Threads (Threads has its own little side piece in the article). I have The Day After on DVD, i bought it years ago in MVC not long after watching Threads...never got around to watching it. Great minds again
watched Little Miss Sunshine again last night, loved it. Such a weird, quirkly, depressing little comedy. Basically a very dysfunctional family travel across America to a beauty pageant. Brilliant ensemble cast, there's not a duff performance in the film. It's a movie that i can watch over and over based on the actors, lots of subtle touches you won't notice on first viewings. If anyones a fan of performances its something you need to see. I can imagine a few people seeing Steve Carell on the cover and expect The 40 Year Old Virgin, it might make people dislike the movie because you wont get what you expect, but i still recommend it.
