I'm probably quite late to the party with these, but I discovered them while flicking the music channels last night. I loved Hot Rod so seeing a couple of the guys from that piqued my interest, and what I saw was absolutely hilarious. Funny in a balls out way, but also very, very well produced with great attention to detail of what they're parodying. I love this as much as I did the first time I ever heard Tenacious D.

I dont think so. They are about different subjects and the Flight of the Conchords is a light Pet Shop boys parody, Lonely Island just contains the usual hip hop and auto-tune bullshit thats popular these days.

There's obvious comparisons to FotC (it's comedy music), but I wouldn't say that's a ripoff. They're both separately ace. For levity...

Was at a gig Sunday and made them play Im on a Boat in between songs. It was a death metal/hardcore gig. Everybody in the room loved it and for the rest of the day everybody just kept shouting "Im on a motherfucking boat"

Got the album day of release and love every song on their.
Space Olympics is my favourite and the video to it is brilliant.

People have been going on about Lonely Island for ages but I tend to ignore these things because they're rarely ever as good as they're made out to be, however last night I was at a party and someone showed me the video to "On A Boat" and I honestly thought it was the best thing I'd seen in ages. We watched "Jizz In My Pants" and "Like A Boss" which were also funny but one of the more surprising songs was the aforementioned "Space Olympics" which despite being amusing lyrically is just a fantastic song.

Just got the new album 'Turtleneck & Chain' and it is absolutely fantastic, I love these guys.

I listened the new record last night and it's fantastic. I keep singing that bloody Jack Sparrow chorus everywhere. Even though I'm pretty sure they don't do gigs, they should tour here.

Got to say, have tried and tried with the new album but just don't think a lot of it. The highs are great and mentioned elsewhere in the thread, but the first album is pretty much entirely made of winners.
