As the title says, it will be on BBC Confidential, BBC One 1735.
I hope it's John Simm personally, but I'm quite eager to find out who it is.

I'm begging for Robert Carlyle myself, probably wont happen as he's off to America too film another bloody Stargate spin off albeit not as a full time character so there's still a hope.

I'd say about zero chance of it being Simm, and less than zero of it being Carlyle, as he's already committed to another series in the USA.

Paterson Joseph has already been in 2 episodes of Doctor Who before, I think it was the end of series 1...
Off topic, but while running on round on IMDB trying to see if I'm right (which I was), I've discovered that Christopher Ecclestone is in the G.I. Joe film as Destro. Awesome!

Doesn't mean anything really. Freema Agyeman was in an episode before returning as Martha.

Is there any chance of it being James Nesbitt?
I heard one of the favourates for the role was Meera Syal, from Goodness Gracious Me. Although I hate the idea of the Doctor being a woman, I do think that should be very good in the role. Like David Tennant, she is very good at both comedy and drama, the way the doctor should be.
But heres hoping to a traditional doctor.
I'd love to see it be Marc Warren of Hustle fame but he's already played a role in the new Doctor Who & it was a pretty prominent one at that.

John Simm would be a good and interesting choice, as if they brought martha back they could play on that for a bit

The BBC News piece on this has a tiny video interview with Tennant where he specifically says it's going to be a man. Every time you're about to post "I heard that" or "there's a rumour that" just remember all the absolute bullshit posted in papers like the Sun about the new Batman film.

I actually saw it on one of the betting websites, paddy power i think. Catherine Tate was also a favourate, so cant see there being much to back it up.

I hate when the rumours come out with shit like 'Oh Billie Piper!' fuck off.
It'll never be a woman, and nor should it. The moment that happens I'll stop watching, he can change his face but he is essentially A MAN. There are women timelords as well, so I hate when people try to change things like that.
I personally really hope its Bill Nighy, for me he would be absolutley brilliant.
In a perfect world, it would be Idris Elba AKA Stringer Bell.

Yeah, but we all know the doctor was a woman in various radio adventures, so its a very real possibility that one day the doctor will be a woman on tv. Obviously if David Tennant has said its a man in that video online then this tme its going to be a man.

You couldn't go wrong with him, or Anthony Head I suppose could work.

Onegalifrey one its got the follwing posted
Piers Wenger is quoted as saying: "We believe the actor is going to bring something very special to the role and will make it absolutely their own. I just can't wait to tell everyone who it is - it has been a nail-biting Christmas trying to keep this under wraps!"
The release from the BBC Press Office confirms that the Confidential episode has been retitled "The Eleventh Doctor" (it was formerly advertised as "The Ten Doctors"), and will feature the actor concerned giving his or her thoughts on having been cast.
Its worth noiting that none of the references are gender specific which is why wouldn't rule out a female Dr.

How come no one seems to use actress any more? Actor should in theory limit it to a male. I don't know why but for a little while I've been thinking that maybe it'l be the actor who plays Merlin, in, Merlin (unsurprisingly). He's younger than Tennant; with being younger than Tennant being rumoured to be a requirement. And Merlin doesn't need the same actor as surely some time is going to advance in the "gap" between Series 1 and 2.
