Does anyone watch Burn Notice or In treatment? I have a few episodes on my laptop but saving them for when I'm bored in a hotel or on a train, any comments on it? Similarly did anyone watch the mini-series that was on a couple of years ago called The Lost Room starring the guy who plays Nick George in Dirty Sexy Money and was in 6ft under?

Stelling is supposed to be the new host of Countdown, lets hope he keeps on doing Soccer Saturday.

I've seen the first two episodes of Burn notice, I like it alot. Good character development so far, good action scenes and it seems quite smart.

Initially from the adverts I thought I wasn't going to like it but it really was a bad trailer for the show, as it gets the tone completely wrong.

So yeah based on two episodes so far, I can see it becoming a great show.

And yeah I also watched the Lost room, again another decent little show, seems like it could be made into a full on TV series at some point, but I think if it was going to be the time has passed sadly sad.gif

He turned it down according to Digital Spy. The new favourite is Alexander Armstrong but I want him to take over permanently on Have I Got News For You.

I just wanted to bump this with huge love for "No Heroics", and thanks to Lister. It's foul-mouthed, stupid, but brilliantly funny.

My good lady and I are loving Eureka at the moment. We're up to the second last episode of Season 2

Does all this mean no-one is watching the new season (3) of Friday Night Lights?

It started back up again a few weeks ago and we are currently on episode 3, it really has got back to what made it so great in the first place. The storylines are back to being believable (season 2 was a bit 'out there') and the cast is just second to none for all the emotional scenes. I love the way it is filmed with the cameras following the actors and people not fully committed to the script, it just feels real.

The show will always have a place in my heart as the Matt/Julie relationship (and break up) reminded me so much of my first love (minus the QB stuff, dating the coaches daughter and well Aimee Teegarden), i think thats what really got me into the show and probably the reason i didn't enjoy season 2 as much as the first season.

Anyway if you haven't seen the show, or just dismissed it as a stupid teen drama then i urge you to give it a chance. I can't stress enough how great it is and how easy it is to connect with the characters and care about them.

New Season of Chuck is brilliant.

The Lister curse strikes again. Natural Born Sellers has been moved out of prime time. Officially it's because of poor ratings, though I suspect it may be specifically down to a lack of advertisers (last week's episode had one break with only one ad). I guess that makes sense as watching the show hardly leaves in the mood to listen to sales pitches.

Is anyone watching True Blood? I'm planning on getting through a fair few in a marathon or two, so I haven't seen any yet.

It may be out of primetime but what a show it was last week. Scott being the cockiest man alive and crashing back to earth with a bang. As well as that dark haired bint (really can't remember her name) seemingly wanting to whore her way to the top. SImply great stuff from start to finish.

Some mad stuff last night on telly that could inspire an episode of the Mighty Boosh - Bruce Parry made up ultimate warrior style, then over on Channel 5 with Paul Merton in India we were treated to the Eunichs! Men with no balls or born with both willys and fannys apparently tongue.gif Hilarious scenes as they harrassed shop workers for money or they'd curse them or strip off naked lol

Last Man Standing on bb3 tonight at 9pm followed by Dawn Porter on Channel 4 at 10pm.

At last managed to find the thread, surely I should be able to find a topic I started easier than that!

Anyway since I've bumped it what are you watching on telly?

For me it's still Last Man Standing (Tuesdays) and Heroes (Wednesdays) plus been watching the Ascent of Money which is on Channel at 8pm on a Monday.
There seems to be a lack of comedies at the moment so good thing I bought Mighty Boosh series 3 for the wife's b'day wink.gif

Just started watching this series of Spooks on iPlayer. Never seen Spooks before, but I'm really enjoying this.

Did anyone watch Wallander ? Wondering if it's any good.

There's a great show on Childrens BBC (actually a lot of the shows they do are really well-made these days) called Election. It's the same format as the Apprentice, but for politics and with children as contestants. What makes it work so well is that it's done exactly as if they were adults, with absolutely no patronisation. Jonathan Dimbleby is judge and watching him tell kids they've fucked up - and kids answering back - is awesome.

There's only two episodes left on TV, but the whole series is on iPlayer.

Just thought id quickly reply to this as i actually used to work for Scott English for 118Trades. I can actually confirm that he is indeed that much of a cocky character but at the same time i felt he made Natural Born Sellers what it was. As soon as he left, my interest in the show quickly went sour. Who actually won in the end?

Anyway the show I am watching is Kenny Vs Spenny on youtube. It's juvenile and has a very simple concept each episode such as "who can keep a dump in their pants the longest?" and will focus around the two different characters dealing with each situation.

Like I said it's extremely juvenile and very much in the Jackass/Dirty Sanchez/ Viva La Bam mould. However the difference is that everything is done for a reason as the loser faces some bizare kind of humiliation at the end of each episode. The laughs mostly happen when the "straight man" Spenny, is throwing his toys out of the pram due to Kenny's underhanded tactics.

Some of Kenny's swerves to win the competition are utterly brilliant too!

Key Episodes for me are:

Who is the better pro wrestler? Featuring Tyson Dux and Iron Sheik.
Who can hold a dump in their pants the longest?
Who can bone more women?
Who can piss off the most people?
Who can imitate the other guy better?
Who can blow the biggest fart?

If it sounds like your kind of thing, then give it a go and im sure you'll enjoy. On a related note, Im 100% sure their was a UK version of this on late night Sky 1 a few years back but i can find no evidence of it existing. Does anybody else happen to remember at all?

Rather brilliantly it was Gavin. He came in the bottom two every week but survived, either because people liked him and wanted to keep him, or in later weeks because they knew he was less of a threat to win. He then pulled off the win in the final (which was selling shares in a racehorse for charity) by practically begging and wound up selling sponsorship on a terminally ill child's wheelchair.

Jesus! I'm glad i didn't watch till the end then as that would have wound me up big time. I was calling for him to get the boot after week 1!

Was only fun when Scott English was in the show to be honest. The banter between him and all of his ex employee's on Facebook was a sight to behold as it was clear nobody wanted him to win! A real life man you love to hate!

Last Man Standing was a good 'un! They were wrestling at a huge show in India with the westerners as the main attraction on the bill. The American submission fighter was well suited to the wrestling but got injured in the training and never made it on the competition. The poor yanks haven't fared well at all. Next week is the last of the series and it looks like Ed could be the winner.

I caught a bit of Inbetweeners last night on Channel 4 which looks pretty funny.

I enjoy watching The Big Bang Theory but looks like it's on E4 but can't see as we can't get it properly with Sky sad.gif
Wonder if it can be fixed so we can receive E4 OK? E4 and More4 are the only channels that don't work properly for us.

I should really go into the actual thread, but am afraid of spoilers.

I started season 1 of The Shield. It started a bit slow, and I was beginning to give up on it (I thought the blurred lines between good and bad, and the way episodes flowed together rather than being wrapped in a neat bundle was a cute idea, but made bad television). Then, somehow, it got to the point where I couldn't turn it off. That was about three weeks ago, and i'm know half way through season 5.

Never has a show been more compelling or more absorbing. Glenn Close was fantastic, but Forrest Whittakers introduction has took this show to another level. I hope we haven't seen the last of Anthony Anderson, either. The bit where he's shot Angie and got a gun to Shane's head and says 'From now on, when I say 'suck my dick' you say 'want me to lick your balls, daddy'' is possibly the most tense moment in the history of televison. Well, aside from Aceveda's rape and when Vic finds out Aceveda screwed him out of the job he wanted.

Clearly the best television show i've seen. By a mile. And a half.

Lovin the old On The Buses film from the 70s on tonight.

There's a few programmes on about the holy lands and biblical times that I find interesting, there was one on earlier on Channel 5 about the Knights Templar.
There is one on about Pagans aswell as an alternative to the rest about the nativity.

A few things on the go at the moment.

I started re-watching Heroes having finally sorted my computer troubles and obtained Season 2 and all of Season 3 so far. Started at the beginning because it's been ages since I watched the first series. Mostly enjoying it. The Nicky/Jessica stuff is still deeply, deeply tedious and I don't like a few of the other characters either, but still a fun show. Enjoying Hiro's greatness all over again, also got much love for Christopher Eccleston as Claude. Good stuff. I hear it derailed pretty badly in season 2, but I'll give it a shot anyway. After all, Kristen Bell is in it. Also I have to make it to season 3 for the Jaime Hector goodness.

Watched the pilot episode of 30 Rock after being insulted heavily for not watching it by Danzo. Enjoyed it quite a bit. Alec Baldwin is terrific and Tina Fey is one of my most favouritest peoples these days (Mean Girls~!), so it scores many points there. The sentiment of the show is very reminiscent of season 2 of Extras, which isn't a bad thing. Will watch more of this. Yes indeed.

Finally, I downloaded the entire first season of Weeds this week. Thoughts on this? Wanted to watch it since it was first advertised on Sky One some time ago because I love the premise. Is it good? Thought I'd give it a go.

"Heroes" I gave up on a few episodes into series 2. I remember watching series 1 and thinking "it took Hiro about 6 episodes to get that sword". It’s like from halfway to about episode 19 nothing happened, and it began to grate, then the beginning of season 2 was so bad (Irish accents!) that I gave up on it. The Nikki storyline, even though I don’t know a single fan who has much above extreme boredom for it, is still with us apparently. Can’t be bothered.

I’m hooked at the moment on Sanctuary, a Sci-Fi Channel show. It has a decent array of characters, and even though towards the end of the series it’s straying a little close to being a pseudo League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, it’s still been a lot of fun. Amanda Tapping is great in it, even if her English accent doesn’t really sound like anywhere in England.

The first was quite an eye opener about the origins of antisemitism.

4400 pilot - never seen the series but saw the pilot the other day on Sky2 and quite like it. Will give the series a go if I catch it on.

Charlie Brooker's Screen Wipe - it's new to me so guess I'm playing catch up on this one. I recall a thread on it which doesn't surprise me now I've seen the programme. It does seem like a programme that would appeal to many of the members of the ukff.

Just got done with season four of House. Strong ending to the series, and had more emotive stuff than your regular episode. Looking forward to seeing what Wilson does at the start of season 5.

On a side note, I've been watching the series on Hallmark. Are they doing the first run of the seasons, or am I behind? I only ask because Fiver is also showing season 4 of House at a different pace.

I'm actually just getting into Dexter. I bought season 1 and I'm 7 episodes in. Loving it so far! I thought Michael C. Hall was fantastic in Six Feet Under so it's great to see him back on tv again. I just wish I'd started watching Dexter ages ago! I'll pick up season 2 as soon as it comes out on dvd. I'm also downloading season 3 at the moment so that as soon as I'm done with 2 I can go straight on to the next one.

Just started watching the new season of 24. Was going to download it, but I'll just watch it at Sky one pace. It means I can watch it in HD too.

After I'm done with Dexter I've got the complete boxset of the Wire to start on. I never watched that either. I got the feeling it would be one of those shows that would be better on dvd, being able to watch at your own pace so I decided to wait. I'm looking forward to it.

Started watching the new season of Nip Tuck too. Downloading it every week from the US. It's pure trash tv, but it's good fun.

I've also got Entourage to start watching. My girlfriend got me the first 3 seasons for christmas, but I've not started it yet

Absolutely the right call on The Wire. I don't think I ever watched an episode on its own. Always had to watch at least two and it's so much more rewarding if you watch it in chunks. Glad more people seem to be picking up the box set, I guess that's the advantage of a series being finished.

Entourage is great fun. Ari Gold is a hilarious character and the show is light and entertaining. Only downside for me is that the episodes feel really short in this age of 40-50 minute average run times. Although it's comedic it's not a sit-com, and as such I have it in my head the the episodes shouldn't end after 22 minutes. I burned through the DVDs of the first two seasons so fast for that reason.

Nip/Tuck is something I was considering getting into. I remember watching the first few episodes of season one and enjoying it. I recall a botched self-circumcision and identical twins who had surgery to give them separate identities and then asked to be turned back. Good TV indeed.
Famous Mortimer
Nip/Tuck apparently gets really crazy in later seasons, there's all sorts of serial-killing and high camp storylines to get into.

Now, is the bit where they re-did a scene from "Entourage" with wrestlers (Nikolai Volkoff shouting "I want to re-fuck her!") on one of the DVDs?

If you're looking for a new show JLM, without a doubt watch Generation Kill.. It's very short, unfortunately, but it is awesome.

That recomendation goes for everyone else as well... Get on it!

In short - based on a book about a reporter who travelled with some Marines going into Iraq. Made by David Simon, the guy who did The Wire. Features Beecher from Oz as the reporter, and Ziggy from The Wire as a marine (he is particularly great in this), and a bunch of other tremendous characters (Captain America - what a douche!).

Watch it.

I caught an episode of this the other day... It is so jam packed with dialogue that is supposed be snappy, it's really quite annoying. Always in the market for a new show, especially now that my PC at home is alive and internetted again. Short is fine, I still have that first season of Weeds to watch and I'm just about to start season 2 of Heroes. I will sample your Generation Kill soon enough.

I am prepared for the absolute worst with Heroes S2. I'm curious to see if it can be as bad as people are making out. The fact that almost every poster worth reading on here considered it to be drivel is not encouraging. Seriously though, Kristen Bell, I have to at least give it a shot.

I absolutely adore Weeds, it's great. The first season is easily the most enjoyable of them all so far as it's the most lighthearted. I've discussed this with someone else on here a while ago and it got much more serious in tone from season 2 onwards and I think it had to in order to convey that there is danger in getting involved with dealing drugs. Much like with Dexter, I imagine there was all sorts of complaints about the fact you would have to be essentially rooting for a criminal in the series and hoping to see her prevail.

The word 'enjoyable' above was chosen carefully. The series probably does improve in quality as it goes on and humour is still very much present but there's the constant element of danger that makes the series quite addictive and takes it to a different level.

On top of that, Mary-Louise Parker is absolutely stunning (and a bit of trivia, actually marries the guy who plays her husband in the series after they met filming it), and if you stick with it, there's a bit of nudity to look forward to. Also, the kid who plays Shane is the same kid who voiced Nemo, which gets quite amusing once you get into season 4.

I also recently finished season 2 of Pushing Daisies. Although, watching all 10 episodes in a week and a half over Christmas, the constant "The facts were these..." from the narrator did get a bit irritating but I think the writers even acknowledged that by occasionally having a character say it instead or one instance of changing the line slightly. However, it was refreshing to see that the quality of writing and even the story has improved since the first season and I still think it's awesome that Anna Friel has made it in the States. Her accent doesn't waver in the slightest and she's given the opportunity in this season to show how much of a range of accents she can achieve which, for a girl from Manchester, is pretty impressive.

I don't what to start watching now I've finished Dexter... I could move onto season 2 but I'm quite tempted to finally get around to watching the Wire because I've had it sat in my room for weeks now. I've also got Dirty Sexy Money (to carry on with the Six Feet Under cast), Band Of Brothers and Freaks and Geeks to get through.
