What were the original plans for Scott Steiner when he came in? Was he meant to win the World Title originally? Even though he turned out shit at the Rumble etc, I doubt the original plan called for him to lose two consecutive title matches on PPV and then not even appear on WrestleMania. Or maybe they were?!

Does anyone know the film which has Batista in and Dominic Purcell from Prison Break in? What's it called?

Thanks for that. Wikipedia hasn't got much info. Might buy it. Anyone seen it? I remember the trailer looking alright for it.

My housemate just reminded me of the brilliant moment at Survivor Series 2006 where Shawn Michaels eliminates Mike Knox in their match then turns to Triple H asking "who was that?". Does anybody know where to find a clip of that anywhere? It doesn't seem to be on Youtube and the only one I can find after a Google search is a Myspace video that doesn't play.

I dont remeber hearing anything at the time, but they may of called for him to win something and found out he was a bit turd in the ring, so decieded agaisnt it.

Then again, around this time was "The Triple H Show" where he lost it to michaels but otherwise was champion for most of the time. He went on tha year to beat Booker T at WM, then Nash twice and so on basically until michaels took the belt from him.

Best idea is hit the "local" (as most places seem to have one) costume shop, as they'll have the handle bar moustaches. Bar that i think A-merchandise may have Hulkamania tshirts/bandanas up for sale, and if you by a size larger you could stuff a few pillows up there or something hah! The costume shop may also sell a "Muscle man" style suit you could use!

Hope that helps!

That's really funny - "was he in the match? Oh, so we're doing well then?"

But then you think about how Mike Knox's career went, and think, yeah, maybe DX's gimmick of burying all the other wrestlers wasn't a really productive idea.
King Pitcos
Mike Knox was worthless at the time anyway. It wasn't until about eighteen months later that he became the bearded megastar-in-waiting.
ShortOrderCook
It really was all in that magnificent beardage.

I miss Knox a bit. What's he up to these days? I like to think he's in the woods giving grizzly bears devastating flying crossbodys for the most part.

Apparently he was so depressed over his WWE release he's completely removed himself from wrestling.

I would say the ring was "rigged", and to be honest thats about as much as i could tell you. It depends on the build of the WWE ring, as normally you have have support Iron bars around the outside that attach to the ring posts. Possibley a switch on the straps underneith the ring?

So not a full answer, other than it would of been "Rigged up".

Also wasnt Hogan/warrior the first ever real big babyface/babyface match ever?

I guess the call goes out to anyone on the UKFF who has set up a wrestling ring!

I forgot about Hogan/Warrior, thanks. Is it strange that we dont have more babyface vs. babyface matches?

I have set up a ring!

It depends on the build of the ring. Normally you have the square frame with either a spring in the middle or sometimes not, again depending on the ring. You would have the inner framing, with padding/canvas on top of that. Also normally from corner to corner you would have ratchet straps to keep the whole thing tight on the underside, with the ropes keeping the top half tight.

Considering the post fell off altogther, id imagine it may off been a loose post/trick post that was remotely or manually pinged off on impact. I'm guessing unless WWE say so, you will never really know for sure mate.

then again that much weight could just collapse a ring anyway.
Richie Freebird
I saw a clip of this bump, no way was it a natural occurrence. It fell in the exact way that it did when they did that same spot with Lesnar a few years ago.

Would a real break not look more like the Bam Bam Bigelow ring break in ECW or the one in the Bradshaw / Big Show cage match? It just didn’t look natural, the way all the posts simply fell off upon impact.

Both of those would of been rigged as well mate.

Rings can just flat out collapse, but it'd be more sudden than that but again it depends on the ring.

This is what I was about to say, about the JBL/Big Show Barbed Wire Cage match anyway. The finish of the match was Bradshaw swerving everyone by winning after he climbed out from underneath the broken ring which gave him the win. I'd doubt they would have changed the finish like that on the spot because of the ring collapsing, it would be too good to be true.

The Hogan-era toy belts seem quite hard to come by at the moment. I know Jakks did bring one out of that belt a few years ago, but that seems quite rare as well now. This one's decent enough though:@

Oh yeah, I realise that. Same as the other instances (Foley from through the cage etc). I was just wondering if that would be any closer to a legitimate ring break than the corner posts imploding.

It was certainly the first massive PPV main event or World title match I can think of between faces in the WWF, but there are also the following televised examples or face vs face that pre-date it, if you're interested :

Ricky Steamboat vs Davey Boy Smith (The Wrestling Classic)
Hart Foundation vs The Rockers (September 11th 1989 edition of Prime Time)
Ric Flair vs Sting (Starrcade '89)
Road Warriors vs Steiners (Starrcade '89)

There might be more, but those come to mind as I've recently watched all of them.
PowerButchi
Sammartino vs Morales for the WWWF title at Shea in 1972 was a biggie.

Of the rings i've personally seen collapse (at british shows anway) it tends to be more that it litterally just falls to one side, rather than a ring post exploding off in one corner.

Funny you should mention the foley one, as i might be wrong but wasnt one of his through the top of the cell spots non-rigged, as in the cell just broke and he fell through? Might be wrong on that one though!

And I'll deffo check those out! it doenst mean alot now, but i found older matches (before the "We all know its 'Sports Entertainment' era") with a face/face match are really good to watch!

Its not as old school, but DDP/Goldberg and Goldberg/Sting (from the nitro before the previos match) are just amazing for that atmosphere also!

I’ve heard that story. I think that was in the Undertaker match, where the ring didn’t actually break. I seem to recall this legend being debunked one way or another. My memory is completely shot these days.

I was referring to the match which I think was against Helmsly, where he fell through the top of the cage again but the ring did give way.

Oh right, yeah the Triple H one was planned, because of that spot previously having been not meant to have happend, IIRC.
