A thread for parents and parents to be of the UKFF!!!

Who has kids?
Who has a baby on the way?

Best memories? Pictures??

Anything goes thumbs-up.gif

I'm currently pregnant with my 1st, should be about 5-6 weeks, but not exactly sure, still waiting for the midwife to call to sort out an urgent dating scan for me as the doctor thought i might be 10weeks along!!!!
Anyway, by MY dates, i think ill be due in bewteen sept 29th and oct 4th.
Got alot of horrible symptons allready sad.gif i cant get anything to shift the sickness or the constant exhaustion sad.gif

Apparently this is all worth it??? lol
Shaine
Children are wonderful, I only have one and he's approaching three this year. Yes they are expensive and can be a pain but it's such a wonderful feeling watching them grow, learn and develop. My boy is now at the why stage and constantly asks about anything and everything even though he knows half the answers, he hit the terrible two's at one and now acts and talks like a five year old.

Congratulations and it is worth all the sickness under the sun... that's what she told me anyway!

On an ending note, when the time comes I advise your partner to just hold your hand and stare directly at the wall.

SpursRiot2012
Your preggo? You don't hang about, do you?

No children myself. Hate the little bastards.

On a side note, I found this girl I was really into back when I started secondary school on Facebook last night. Two kids, two different men and shes a complete chav. Also a complete slag by the looks of some of her photos...
Kookoocachu
thanks smile.gif i dont know how much more of this i can take though >.< the things that i used to love make me so ill sad.gif
Shaine
Talk to you're gp, there will be something to keep everything down although be careful whilst out, being sick randomly happens and in the worst possibly places, I.E. middle of Manchester city centre all over my brand new white trainers.
Kookoocachu
lmao!!!! how far along was she then???

i think the worst place ive been sick so far is in Macdonalds loos!!!

First off, many congratulations on the pregnancy.

I was never that bothered about kids, but now that I'm pushing 27, I'm getting the urge to be a dad. No idea what's made me change my mind, but I really want a family. Just need to find some sow to impregnate first, I guess...
IanMyers
Two for me and another on the way (two boys, one just turned 3, one just turned 2, and a girl-fingers crossed-due in March).

Children are the best. Yes they're expensive (covered already but true, and I don't begrudge them a penny), loud, irritating, obnoxious, fussy, don't sleep, love to be creative with food not paint (unless you forget to move the paints before you move the mess mat!), and a million other negative things, but when the smile at you, say your name, cuddle you, kiss you, come to you for comfort if they are hurt or scared by anything, or any of the infinite positive things, you know it is all worth it. Even my wife thinks so, and she's been pretty much bed bound by her current pregnancy with back problems that she didn't have with the boys, but is suffering terribly from with what is almost certainly a girl (two senior consultants confirmed it twice and a sonographer said it once!). My kids are my life, setting eyes on them every day is what I wake up for in the morning (rather than having to take the dog out which is not what I wake up for but is what wakes me up!).

I'm also 27, but I also have a 10 year old son. We considered having more a little while ago, but now we've kind of gone off the idea. As Jordan has got older, we are starting to get more and more freedom, which we are enjoying.
Shaine
Agreed with Ian Myers, what I touched upon but with greater detail, she was six months gone when that happened but she didn't take the pills her gp gave her.

It's funny he's learning all the time, I got him to say constantinople the other week but he has trouble pronouncing his name, when I ask him he says he is called ilam instead of Liam.
The Dart
I don't have any kids, but I've got 2 nephews and 7 nieces (including twins) between the ages of 10 years and 2 months. I do want my own kids one day, but not for at least another 5 years, but surely longer. I especially want a son, who I want to name after my uncle, who died 8 years ago, and never had a son of his own, and who I idolised. Was his birthday today too actually.

It's quite strange how that sort of thing happens. My daughter speaks really well, but she cannot say chocolate. She says "gosh" instead of "choc".

Congrats to MAT, hope all goes well. It's a bit early to be telling us though, you should've waited another 6 weeks.

Really want to have kids one day, but I'm 19, so I'll be giving it a few years yet. Was shocked to find out my mate who I haven't seen for 8 months is expectiong a baby; he's had to start working full time at Staples, so I definately want to get a good career sorted out before I have kids.

Then I've got to find the right girl, so...

Hey I know this really isn't the thread for it, but that girl I mentioned in my post just told me what shes been upto for the past eight years (copied word for word):

And you let that catch slip through your fingers?? Aww man... you'll surely be getting extra drunk tonight.

Suppose I should say something on topic... Umm - I like hanging with my little cousins, they can be fun. But I don't think I would want any kids of my own. I hope my sister has a couple, though.

Do they just not fucking teach English in schools anymore or what? Another good reason not to have children. You're just fighting a losing battle and they'll only disappoint you.

I hate kids me. Don't even like looking at them or listening to them talk. I'll buy the old lady a dwarf when the time comes, at least I can teach him to play Cribbage.

Congrats MAT,i know what you mean, i couldn't keep it a secret when i found out my g/f was expecting, don't worry no matter how bad things get it really is all worth it in the end.

Iv'e got a five year old daughter who's amazing, she's a total nutcase & can always make me laugh & cheer me up no matter what's wrong,i don't get to see her as much as i'd like but i still see her a few times a week or i have her when her mum goes out & when were together it's great cos it kinda feels like we're friends & not just father & daughter.

Now my second daughters due in 2 weeks but my g/f's blood pressure has been high & she's been feeling unwell so the hospital did some tests & she has early signs of pre eclamsia, which is serious if left untreated, but they've found it early. The only cure is to deliver early,so they kept her in last night & they're going to induce her sometime today once a bed becomes free.So im just waiting around untill i can go see her at 11.But on the good side at some point today(hopefully) our little Violet-Starr will come into the world biggrin.gif
Wideload
My better half is due in 9 weeks. It'll be my first but her second, which I am so glad of as she's able to answer most of my stupid questions. I met her when her little one was 6 months old so i've had some practice but I am, as a whole, crapping it. I really can't wait though, I just finished the nursery and it's looking shit-hot.

Just a wee thing, I picked up a book called "The Bloke's Guide to Pregnancy" by Jon Smith; if you can ignore the wanky-men-behaving-badly type title , it's actually very good.

Roll on the 2nd of May - expect pictures thumbs-up.gif

Kids are awesome, i have 3 girls and they all make me very proud. My eldest is leaving school this year to go to college, its amazing to watch them grow and make lives for themselves.

I know. The poor thing is only the size of an aspirin and his life is already fucked.

Congratulations MAT. Though when the kid is older, make sure your boyfriend does most of the teaching. Then hopefully the baby wont grow up to become a complete mental patient.

Must have totlay missed this thred when it was made Congrates to MAT.

I dont have no kids we realy did want some but My missis cant have them due to having this Radio-active drink to treat her hyperactive thyroid down. Have a nephew and my god he dont shut up when i talk to him on the phone.

One of my mums pals daughters kids has a MAJOR snoring problem at night. I've heard the baby sleeping, and it is really creepy. He sounds really old whilst he's snoring. Doctor supposedly doesn't have a clue whats the matter. Kid is probably five months old.

I hear wedding bells.

Me and my girlfriend would love to have a baby but neither one of us earn enough to support all 3 after one gives up work to look after the child. I could just live on benefits to get through but I want a little more from life than that. I have a mortgage and I just couldn't stand to lose my house if I couldn't keep up payments and end up being re housed somewhere. So I'm going to wait a couple of years, and by that time I'll hopefully be on enough money to support everyone.

Babies are great!

Best I advice I can give is dont let people give you nightmare stories, Dont worry about sleep (you sleep when they sleep!), if someone offers help LET THEM!

They take up 100% of your time, but you dont resent a single second. They do new cool things every day, and are natural comedians (Burping, sneezing and farting at the same time-classic)

Look after yourself, take it easy, and enjoy.

I'm getting so nervous about my appointment and i have no idea why!!!! silly me >.<

I coped really well last night, until it hit about 11.15 and i allmost fell asleep right where i was sat!!! we also had to make a detour to a resturant so i could have some scampi laugh.gif

On the tummy front im alot less 'firm' but still really rounded, maybe im just getting fat and had trapped wind in peculiar places! lmao!
Shaine
You'll be fine, I knew nothing about babies really before Ilam came along and refused to go anywhere near them as I'd thought I'd break them but there tougher then they look, as Thunderplex mentioned if anyone trustworthy and knowledgeable about babies offers help, take it! My friend had twins and for about three months he tried to make me 'practice' being a dad with one of them, I refused and said that I would just read the books and go from there... I eventually gave it a go and found it a piece of piss until the baby started crying, then I ran a mile. rolleyes.gif
NeZuMi
Haha i remember when i was 7 months pregs with my first daughter, my mate just had her baby and she handed it to me and told me to practice. I stood there holding her baby, arms outstretched in front of me, baby as far away from me as possible and i said 'what am i supposed to do with it!'

I didnt realise so many of you had kids. Kind of a noisy question that some of you have already answered.

What age are you now and what age were you when you had your first kid?

This is super advice, prospective parents should write it down. Especially the comedy bit. I laughed my arse off last night when my daughter announced to the room "I've got a snotty nose".

Make sure you accept offers of help, for you and the kid. Don't be too clingy, let other people help and definitely let them babysit, it builds a bit of bravery and independence in the kid as well as allowing you to live a bit.

Also, one of the best things we ever did was sending our daughter to a child minder a couple of times a week. My missus only works 6 hours a week but it gives her a bit of sanity and adult conversation and our daughter has loved mixing with other kids. She's an only child, so it'd be very easy for he to be spoilt and selfish, but she isn't at all and I think been around other kids from an early age (6 months) is the reason.

I was 24 when Emily was born. I'm 27 now.
EscapeTribe
I was 20 when my youngest daughter was concieved, and 21 when she was born. Not planned, but these things happen and i guess it's a case of having to step up when they do, i wouldn't change a thing tho. Hell, if you'd have told me i'd be living in a 3 bedroom house with a fiancee ad 3 kids by 25 i'd have laughed in your face a few years back.. lol
IanMyers
26 and just over 1/2 now, will be nearer 27 when 3rd is born in March, was 23 1/2 when first (Logan) came along, and 24 1/2 when the 2nd, (Dylan) appeared. My Wife is just under 2 years younger than me.

Oh, and to mention the comedy factor, walking back from the park with my boys the other day, we went past the local chippy, which they have never been taken to (and actually hardly ever even mention), and Logan started wailing "CHIPPY" at the top of his (bloody loud) voice, along the whole row of shops until we crossed the road. Elderly couple walking behind took much amusement in this, and probably thought "Typical Dad, alone with the kids, must take them to have chips for lunch usually". All because I was pointing out to them both that there was a queue outside the chippy and it wasn't open for another 20mins.
Kids, gotta love 'em, can't take them anywhere. I think they are hilarious.
