mick foley
I dont think the police have actually released the name of who they arrested. Det Ch Supt Stewart Gull said: "We will not be naming the police station where the man is being held. taken from bbcI think the age and the story ran in the sunday mirror kind of pointed out who it was !!hence the reason why the police are miffed at the beeb, http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6191983.stmindeed as mentioned above if released and had nothing to do with the murders, this could cost the police big time Edited December 19, 2006 by mick foley
Chris
The filth didn't release his name. Its just the 1000 police cars outside his house that gave it away.I hope the Dectective Super Policeman goes all showbiz, what with all the exposure he's getting. Make-up and hammed up lines. Edited December 19, 2006 by Chris

Garrett
It's not all bad: C list stardom now awaits Tom Stephens. He'll probably be on the next celebrity big brother. And maybe make the cover of heat.

dbax
Apparantly the Attorney General has warned the media about publishing things which could prejudice a future trial.Well, the tabloids did get a murder trial thrown out in the early 90s with prejudicial reporting IIRC. They were a pair of nice looking female twins, though, so it was all in the public interest. So they've not charged the shift-working, unlicenced cab-driving, MySpace-using loner with the creepy looking mugshot? How could everyone's pre-conceived idea of what a murderer is like be so wrong?
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted December 22, 2006 Moderators Share Posted December 22, 2006 MY friend was telling me about some idiot where he works yesterday - they were speaking, and the topic turned to that of Myspace in general, and she said to him that she would never use Myspace because it was "full of killers" . Out of curiousity - have there been any reported murders that stemmed from MySpace, LiveJournal, Faceparty etc meetups?
Paid Members Psygnosis Posted December 22, 2006 Author Paid Members Share Posted December 22, 2006 Uhh there was one guy on something called VampireFreaks that went to shoot peoples heads off in a school, he kept saying "The Fire Still Burns", he was like Kane only gothic (in his pics he had posters up etc), but yeah he was into way too much dark stuff. Since then they removed the profile.
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted December 22, 2006 Moderators Share Posted December 22, 2006 I believe there's been a few Myspace suicides, though...
Paid Members SpursRiot2012 Posted December 22, 2006 Paid Members Share Posted December 22, 2006 Has anybody ever been on that MyDeathSpace page? One of the causes of death was, "Killed by another MySpace user." Which was, kind of, funny.
JamesTyler
That actually makes me more tempted to log into my long-forgotten VampireFreaks profile......there have been a few oddballs I've met on there that made me stop using it.

dbax
I believe there's been a few Myspace suicides, though...It's a hangout for "different", "misunderstood" teens who reinforce each others' differentness and misunderstoodness by being similar and understanding each other, of course its users kill themselves sometimes because they'll reinforce that tendency where it exists. The same thing would happen if those same people met offline. To draw any kind of definite link is like saying that 99% of suicides in the UK have watched at least 1 episode of East Enders, therefore East Enders is to blame. That thought never occurs to those who want to make the association between something new and something bad. I've no doubt that there are murders of people who've met online - there was that manslaughter recently of a strangulation fetishist who died in a sex game with someone they'd met on an adult contacts site that was presented as murder by the press - but the same is true with people who meet via personal ads, through friends or in night clubs. On Saturday, I'm meeting some bird I met online for the first time. I have no doubt I'll still be here on Sunday.
