Stop trying to blame a largely nonexistent social phenomenon for your own lack of professionalism.

Maybe not so apparent in your middle class upbringing where you do not have to live with these tensions try living in a largely Asian community where it feels like you walking on eggshells all the time. The fact that I work for a job centre and because I refused the man at the time benefit that he but in a complete and got me sacked. He overheard me say that the coloured gentleman on the right is next, to my boss he made no point of it at the start of the claim. But when I refused him he decided to play the race card and say that I was a racist and was refusing him because of the colour of his skin. I refused him because to get job seekers benefit you need to look for work.

1) What do you know about my upbringing?2) If you just didn't use the word 'coloured' like the rest of the country you wouldn't have lost your job and that's the simple fact of the matter.

What the hell? Since when was calling someone "coloured" deemed racist?I agree Big Frank. This country has gone PC mad.I no longer wish to be called "white." I just have fair skin  And another thing is, you can't call midgets midgets anymore. You have to call them "a person of less the averege height."

lack of professionalism.

I was never unprofessional in the manor that I worked I took ever case on merit not on race. If the room at the time was full of blond haired people and somebody had black hair I would say the man with the black hair. I can understand how descriptive none hurtful comment can get you sacked from a job that you have worked your hardest and never had a day off work since joining can get you the sack. May I ask if the same thing would happen in other countries? I understand that we live in a multi race society and on some things we have to be careful with whatever creed or religion we are taking it to far that the facts are that we now have to re-evaluate what we says because we could be one of the following.Ageism Racism Sexism All the other social rules that the government give us to try to make the world yet the way I see it we are making the world a worse place. Freedom of speech is make believe.

'Coloured' is considered to be an impolite term. 'Black' or 'Asian' are perfectly acceptable replacements. If you were sacked then the term was clearly inappropriate for your workplace. The same thing would happen in many other countries including most of Europe and the United States. If you think Freedom of Speech is make believe then you clearly haven't noticed the variety of newspapers and television channels available to you, your ability to vote in elections and your ability to write stuff like this on the Internet.

Sorry if this offends anyone, its not ment to in the slightist-------------------------------------------------------------------------This is an intresting point,As I'm told you can no longer sayBlack person/man/women/childBrown person/man/women/child(although I agree with this)Coloured person/man/women/childAlso the "n" word used to call a, erm...an African-American I think is also wrong, however I do find it stupid when "hommies" call each other it but yet complain as soon as a white person says it.Anyone who trys to play the race card should be shot, a white person isn't offended by the "white board" or "white *insert word here*". I suppose if a African-American refuses something to a white person you could play the race card, but its a fact of life, people have diffrent coloured skin....so?, I don't give a toss about religion, race or anything else, I'm still gonna treat you the same with the respect your owed, you piss me off and I'll call you a wanker no matter what the facter is, yet some will play the race card which is sad(although I am away this is a very very very small percentage who actually do).I think the term "Coloured" and "Black" are perfectly acceptable, but then again, I'm white skined.Anyone else here who is an African-American(unsure if this is even correct), Asain, any other race other than white using this board? If so what do you think is and isn't acceptable, as it isn't ever soemthing I have been told directly from someone is affects, only classroom teachers.CyaMicken

Although I was actually vaguely sympathetic to your situation until your attempt to analyse the Oldham riots (caused by a few Asian *individuals*, and a couple of hundred football hooligans, many of whom were not from Oldham), at the end of the day you were working in the public sector, and thus under a carefully crafted racism policy. Seeing as getting ahead in the public sector is all about following rules, no matter how silly, to a t, you were clearly not suited.

Oh sure, you can complain about the niggers and kikes until the cows go home as long as you're within the comfort of your own property, but don't expect to be able to it at your place of work.

This is bullshit. I hear plenty black people saying things like, "That WHITE boy/girl/man/women" and it's not considered wrong in the slightest. But I come out with a comment like, "That BLACK boy/girl/man/women" and there'd be plenty people jumping on my back about it with things like, "What's his colour got to do with it?"I never understood why the "N word" is so hated anyway. I mean...it's just a word.
