Yeah, but he was up against a wally.

And, his votes were spread leaving him with a majority of what, 21 in the House...?

And, i'd also wager the definition of what it is to be a leader changed after Major, certainly in this country his dour personality and image were the catalyst for choosing a young, dynamic Blair.

He just wasn't fit for the pantomime that is PMQ's. Going back on some of those videos of Blair in his early years, Major was just a rabbit in the headlights. Though to be fair, a lot of the establishment Tories are pretty shit at that side of politics.

When Blair pulled out his 'I lead my party, he follows his!' line the Labour party are in raptures, as you'd expect, but you can actually see members of the Tory backbenches struggling to stifle a chuckle.

It is sad how much emphasis seems to be placed on image these days, but I have to go along with the comments on Ed Milliband. Bearing in mind that I'm voting for him no matter what at the next election, I find it hard to fight the urge to facepalm every time I see him lisping his way through a heartfelt speech. I suppose the one saving grace is that Cameron is hardly Blair or Obama when it comes to charisma - for all his teflon tendencies and seeming ability to escape unscathed from the holes he digs himself into, from a PR point of view his grating, plummy voice and smug ruddy face are still quite alienating to what I imagine is a good portion of the electorate. Considering he contrived to come out of the debates looking less inspiring than his monotone human shield, I'm hoping the X-Factor portion of the electorate haven't handed him victory over Milliband just yet.

The other problem with Milliband besides his rubber-mask looks, is that he's quite obviously some sort of PR robot.

If you haven't seen it before, check out this classic BBC interview where he gives the same answer again and again regardless of the question.
