Ill admit the 4 years for the Facebook thing seems harsh but I dont know the details, I dont know the extent of what they had written, whether they had threatened violence on Police etc etc. According to one of the papers yesterday, the group was called 'Smash Dwn in Northwich Town' and one of their first comments was 'we'll need to get this kickin off all over'. As far as I'm concerned, any punishment they got was deserved for their chavvy mong spelling. If you can't be arsed to type a simple letter 'o' or 'g', I can't be arsed to care about the big sentence you got. |

Do you think we're soft on crime Kris? In some cases we are. In some cases we don't even bother. An example of my own, a few years ago my car got damaged in the town centre while I was working in the club. It was only a few feet away from CCTV. I contacted the police via email and was pleased to receive a swift reply. Sadly it was to tell me there was no point in looking at CCTV as at night they don't really pick much up unless the operator zooms in on something, and since nothing had been reported by the operator then they won't have anything. Clearly I was disappointed, but appreciated the honesty of the response. What I didn't appreciate was seeing in the local paper sometime later closeups of the faces of people who had dropped litter. The paper was appealing for people to grass them up so they could be fined. The photos came from the CCTV on the same street and some of them were taken on the same night! I have a friend who was on a tag for a month, he broke his curfew 18 times and he got an extra 3 hours community service. He's actually a very good lad, but he handles his problems the wrong way and frankly he needs to learn a lesson. I no prison isn't the right place for him, but fuck me, 3 hours community service for pissing all over his tag seems to basically say, fuck it do what you want and get away with it! -------------------- |

Ed Milliband does not look like a Prime Minister. He looks like he'd make an excellent Head Prefect though. Thats what I think everytime I see him. -------------------- ![]() "Get a life Jews!" |

Brian Gerrish - Genesis Radio 9th August 2011 UK Riots Common Purpose
I recommend this insightful radio interview with campaigner and retired Naval Commander Brian Gerrish, delving into the story of the recent riots and what's happening to the police force. And I guess that's the best disincentive of all - seeing how many looters have been apprehended and had the book thrown at them, will discourage similar behaviour in the future. A friend of mine who's a criminal barrister tells me that a significantly high percentage of those charged with the worse crimes already had a criminal record as well. These people had nothing to lose by the sounds of it, got little and have little prospects. Lots of people get locked up yet there is a problem with rehabilitation it would seem, so the problem isn't solved. The root cause of why these people offend needs to be addressed, coupled with rehabilitation of offenders. -------------------- Check out wrestlingtruth.com and BluRayMMA.com for UFC & MMA DVD reviews, videos, interviews, competitions plus loads more!

Erm, why exactly? He can present some good information, but I'm not into his style to be honest. He gets a little too carried away! Also I'd prefer to listen to the info he's got on US stories and listen to someone based in the UK when it comes to what's happening over here generally speaking. Apols if I sounded a bit off, I might have a listen at some point, cheers for sharing. The Notting Hill Carnival is this weekend, I could easily see more rioting starting there. I would think the police will be on red alert though, and probably greatly increased in number from previous years.

Alot of the people involved in Carnival are making a big point of saying not to cause trouble there, on the basis it could be the excuse needed to cancel it.
Cops are coming from all over though, tasty overtime wedge, they've get force from newcastle coming all the way down for it. |

Isnt the Carnival one big arrest zone anyway? Not these days no, it's probably much legalised weed for the weekend in fact. There'll be a few groups going through the crowd mugging as they go, and you do unfortunately get the possibility of some stabbings. But other than that it's all quite good natured and fun. |
