Oi Nicko, get back in your own thread. You're not welcome in here anymore!

I've temporarily adopted Palace as a second team, purely for the purposes of participation in this thread. ;)

Besides, have you seen our end of season run in? I fear I'll be back in this thread full-time within twelve months :/

I'm worried about Palace actually. I cover them for the local paper. They had a thin squad that keeps getting thinner and they can't nail down the signings as they hoped. Plus, Sean Scannell lives at the end of my street and the poor lad looks bored.

How did Andy Dorman get on last season?

So Ryan Taylor signs, fee to be decided by tribuneral as is under 24

A striker who doesnt score and doesnt assist

Despised universally as being lightweight and not good enough by Rotherham and Exeter fans

But we see something in him because he has promise? Big whoopdies

In a position we dont need havent targetted and in a situation where we are supposedly cut costs I cant say that Iam particularly enthused about this signing. what with another signing on fee, what ever transfer fee is agreed and wages being agreed and still not (m)any out.

In this case its not the player so much its the complete inaction by the club to do anything as they say they would. That's now 2 signings in areas that dont need it at the expense of other areas that the manager has identified as priority, namely CB, LB, RB, CM....

Great

Who knows. Internal appointment, could work. No less inspiring than say Brian McDermott and could be just as inspired. They say they want continuity and if they do OK but Cardiff don't, we'll know who was the key man at Watford. Has Mackay been that good at Watford?

Our game with Blackpool has been moved to Friday August 5th for Sky. When we came down, Sky didn't want to know us (or Portsmouth) but Blackpool are on first game. BBC will probably pick West Ham vs. Cardiff.

Has Mackay been that good at Watford?

I thought they were cracking the few times I saw them on TV last year. A really exciting young side. They were shit at the KC but that was during our "bore the pants off the opposition and take a nil-nil phase". He helped turn Hoskins and Graham into

I believe they have a budget similar to Scunthorpe and punched above their weight all season. It looked like they would be challenging for the playoffs until their form dipped after January and finished in a comfortable mid-table position.

I think they will struggle this season. Losing Danny Graham will be a huge blow to them as he scored a 1/3 of their goals last term. If they don't find a suitable replacement they will be contenders for relegation.

On to my team Middlesbrough it has been a rather quiet close-season which I am not sure if it is a good thing or bad thing. We had a great run of form in the calendar year which seen us rocket from the relegation places into finishing in the top half (just). If we keep the nucleus of the team we should finish in the top 10, the optimist in me think we could sneak a playoff place.

Chester FC sign Wes Baynes, I thought big things were expected of him at Wrexham, what happened there?

When he first came through he was direct and could smack a ball really hard, which is often more than enough to have a good career at lower league level. Seems to have gone wrong since he randomly handed in a transfer request mid-season a year or two back deciding he wanted wanted to play league football immediately. Since then he's been a jack of all trades, master of none in the sense he's played defence, midfield and up front but never fully convinced anywhere. If he'd have knuckled down and really worked on being a good right back he could probably be where Neil Taylor is now, seeing them back in 2008 Baynes seemed to be the better prospect to me.
