The thing I found most interesting was Shawn Michaels being involved in the MOTY almost every year yet not winning the wrestler of the year. I'll need to look back over the 2006 shows though because I can't bring myself to believe that Edge vs. Mick Foley, as fun as it was, was the best match of 2006. Even in WWE.

Shows how much of a disappointing year it was for big matches when a non-ppv with no stand-out matches was voted Best Event of 2010.
I think it says a lot about the UKFF when a high number of us got more enjoyment out of that show which brought back lots of guys from the 80's and 90's than we got from any of the WWE/TNA ppvs all year featuring the current talent. -------------------- ![]() Let the pigeons loose. |

Thanks again, rick.
It wasn't. IIRC it was actually a fairly controversial pick. There was a lot of criticism about that match when it happened both at the time (WM XXII thread being one of the best that has ever been on here), then later on when it was winning MOTY (not just the thread itself but I remember On-Topic people mentioning that it shouldn't be winning it in other threads). I don't hate that match (I do think it was overrated, however) but I think what actually rubbed people up the wrong way/the problem seemed to be that the people who did like that match never really explained why whereas a lot of the guys who hated it spent a lot of time explaining themselves/drawing comparisons to other matches/etc. to explain why. Another useless statistic for you but speaking of 2006, that was the only year in 2003-2009 that Michaels wasn't in the running (didn't make it to Poll Stage) for 'Best Pro-wrestler of the Year'. If there is ever a UKFF Hall of Fame then Shawn Michaels, Doug Williams, Edge and Chris Jericho need to be the first names in there as 'UKFF's favourites' based on the number of things this forum has awarded them since those four have pretty much cleared up at the Awards year after year. Okay so following on from the above bit about HBK, Williams, Egde and Jericho I decided to see who had actually won the most UKFF categories overall taking into account all categories (Posters, Pro-wrestling, MMA, and Britwres). Probably useless but, inspired by the Royal Rumble Stats thread, here are how the numbers work out for UKFF voting over the years (multiple Award Winners only)...

It is simply a rough guide to what was (and is) popular (and unpopular) on here over the years. The numbers don't lie. -------------------- “Boy, these two young twenty one year old kids in their early twenties are unbelievable!” (Jim Ross, Raw 13/12/99)

Yeah, that's pretty cool.
That's what I meant when I said the statistics don't reflect my opinions. Some 'Fun Facts': • The most interesting result to me is Eddie Guerrero being in (joint) Third Place in UKFF History considering he was only active for four of those years. If he’d lived longer I think he’d be right up there with Jericho/Edge/Williams and in fact would probably have taken some of Jericho’s votes away. • Same with Benoit although to a lesser extent in that I think he’d already ‘peaked’ in terms of online popularity (i.e. I can’t see him winning Wrestler of the Year again) but I can see him being in a few MOTYs. • Interestingly for all the moaning about various people on here over the years, fact is other than the above few people no one else has won more than one negative category over the years. • UKFF’s favourite PPV is clearly WrestleMania, an event that has dominated these awards • The least favourite event appears to have been the (now deceased) WWE version of the Great American Bash with two ‘Worst Event Awards’ out of the three years it ran • Eddie Guerrero is the only man so far to have won a British category, when he competed in the Best British Match of the Year (2002), and also have won one of the non-UK specific awards by being voted Pro-wrestler of the Year 2003 • Meanwhile, KENTA & Marufuji are the only Japanese act to ever win one of the main awards for Tag Team of the Year 2004 • Good feuds and matches often overlap but in fact the only Match of the Year that was also part of UKFF’s Best Feud/Best Angle was Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit vs. Rey Misterio & Edge vs. Los Guerreros • Out of all the men to be voted ‘Worst Wrestler of the Year’ Matt Hardy is the only one to have also won a ‘positive’ award in the form of ‘Best Feud 2007’ (vs. MVP) something Buff Bagwell, Rob Terry, Braden Walker (Chris Harris), The Great Khali, Tyson Tomko, Nathan Jones & Kriss Sprules have yet to accomplish • The MMA version is Frank Mir who is the only man to have been in both the Best (2009) and Worst (2010) MMA Fights of the Year • By the same token, Tito Ortiz is the only person to have been named Worst MMA Fighter who was also in the Best MMA Fight of the Year • The All Rounder: Brock Lesnar is the only man so far to have won awards in both the MMA (‘Best Fighter of the Year 2008 & 2009) and Pro Wrestling (‘Breakout Star 2002’) categories • 1PW are the only British company in history to squeeze onto the winners board for the non-UK specific section when they presented what was voted the Worst Event of 2007 Kenta and Marafuji winning ‘Tag Team of the Year’ on here seems like a long time ago now. -------------------- “Boy, these two young twenty one year old kids in their early twenties are unbelievable!” (Jim Ross, Raw 13/12/99)

CM Punk is now the most decorated person in UKFF Awards history.
Someone should inform him on Twitter. -------------------- Proud consumer of 41 pink wafers in under 90 seconds.
