Sorry but i'd disagree with that. He's had a lot of money to throw at players like Mulgrew, McNamara, Severin, Smith, Miller and the likes just like he did with the Pars and nearly put us into administration as a result and the after effects are still kicking in now with what you mentioned above.

With the money he had at his disposal the with us he get the likes of Crawford, Brewster, Nicholson, Rossi, Skerla and quite a few others and built a decent team. With the resources he had a 4th place finish was the very minimum i'd expect. He also blew crazy money / wages on distinctly average players like Matthei, Young (x 2), Dempsey and Byrne.

Personally i think there is a lot of smoke and mirrors with Calderwood. Some of his team selections and in particular his substitutions were horrendous and left you totally bemused. Also the european style of nicking a goal and defending your lead for sixty minutes playing out a 1-0 became horrific.

Granted the stats paint a very different picture both for ourselves and Aberdeen but i don't think he deserves all the credit people throw at him.

Sure real Madrid, man Utd etc... have won at a higher level. But we can only deal with the cards we're dealt, playing in Scotland. And the simply fact is we've won more than anybody else. Which makes us the most successful football club on the planet.

However Calderwood has had the last laugh by leaving us with Darren Mackie and Derek Young signed to contract extensions.

I doubt they will get owen coyle to be honest and John Collins is way to high a price to, Mowbray and McGhee are the prime candidates. McCarthy looks a good price though.
