Peregrine Worsthorne
I dont post often (at all really) but I felt this was worth sharing. Â Â If you have a half hour to watch this, great. If you share it after watching, even better.

Steve Justice
Yeah that was pretty powerful, I'll be keeping an eye on this. If it works then more power to them.

Vamp
It would have been far more powerful without him doing all the "America doesn't benefit from this" bullshit. That made me angry. And if he told us about how the Ugandan military operates. But hey ho, the idea's interesting.
Paid Members Bellenda Carlisle Posted March 7, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted March 7, 2012 Can someone give me a "nutshell" of what this is? After watching about 6 minutes I thought it probably wasn't aimed at me, I'm still curious though.

patiirc
Can someone give me a "nutshell" of what this is? After watching about 6 minutes I thought it probably wasn't aimed at me, I'm still curious though.  As far as I understand it, its a call to arms to rid the world of Joesph Kony, an African Warlord who, abuses and uses kids for armies, prostitution etc. The claim is to get military intervention to stop this from happening, which in turn would mean them fighting the very kids they are trying to protect  Read Lion of the Midlands link, its a great countenance to the current brouhaha.  As an aside, the whole abuse of children in Africa, using them as Soldiers, raping and pilliaging is hardly a 'new' issue. Newsround covered it loads on Newsround Extra iirc, whilst I was growing up. So why now? The cynic in me wants to say 'First World Guilt'.  Dont China weild alot of power in Africa these days? What would be their stance on this kind of thing?

Loki
Not everyone agrees with this  Great post. My immediate thought on watching the first few minutes of the video was "hmmmmmmmmmm..." It felt all a bit colonial guilt. Having read that well-researched blog, I'm even less sure that Invisible Children is the touchy-feely organisation it purports to be.  Bloody liberals.
