Will Royal Rumble 2012 Match Be Worth Watching This Year ?

Basically because we know that Cena is going to be Raws champ vs The Rock at Wrestlemania & now that Daniel Bryan says he is going to cash in his MITB shot at Wrestlemania will they even bother with a Royal Rumble battle royal this year or will they have Cena & the Smackdown champ in there aswell like they did in the 1990 Royal Rumble when they had Hogan was in it.

What do you guys think then ?

I'm almost convinced Cena isn't going into Wrestlemania with the title.

I don't know, they've built up Rock/Cena for the title as the biggest match possible. Anything less will come across slightly below par. It's daft, but that's the way WWE have treated this.

They havent really built up Rock vs. Cena for the title have they? Maybe the SD Mania match could end up being the champ vs. Bryan vs. RR winner. I am sure they will do something to make it a PPV worth watching

There is no way Daniel Bryan is facing the Champion at Wrestlemania and Rock/Cena doesn't need the title and would be better off without it. At this point, it's impossible to see what WWE's long term plans are.

Yeah I just thought about it last night Im assuming they will do something, maybe someone will dare Bryan to put his MITB shot on the line then they win & cash it in before Royal Rumble & then maybe Bryan wins the Rumble, I can see Cody Rhodes winning the title by the end of the year.

Yep I agree, plus the Royal Rumble match is always worth watching and I can't seem to recall the last crappy one, ah wait up, it was the one where Vince won it.

Cena vs The Rock at Wrestlemania doesn't need the title on the line in my view. It should be a big enough match and the build up should be such that fans will be interested without a title on the line.

The Royal Rumble is the 2nd biggest PPV of the year for WWE and should always retain pride of place in the calendar. Bryan may cash in his shot before mania anyway as I doubt the WWE view him as a long term star. You have to remember that the Royal Rumble winner can challenge either champ at Wrestlemania so it gives them plenty of options. In my view they must keep the Rumble winner as the NO1 contender till Wrestlemania, build them up so that we care and don't have them take their title shot at the Feb PPV then the match will mean something.

Rock vs Cena should absolutely be a WWE title match, for me. It's the biggest match in a decade, the WWE title looks bigger being on the line in Rock vs Cena than Kofi Kingston vs Alberto Del Rio or whatever.. Sure Rock and Cena don't need it, but they could do wonders for the title (although the pair of them made it look like shit this year at Mania).

I can't see why it should be for the title. Everyone and their mother knows that Rock won't be wrestling a full time schedule any time soon, so surely this will telegraph the result? If its non-title, then it places more doubt on the outcome of the match.

I also can't see D Bryan holding the briefcase till Wrestlemania either.

Nobody except us Internet twerps gives a solitary toss about Rock's schedule meaning he won't win the title. Of course he could win the title and vacate it, or wrestle at the next month's event. I don't think anyone here would even think the belt makes the result a foregone conclusion, let alone real people.

The argument against is that the match doesn't need the belt. Which is a fair point, but if the WWE title bout is Del Rio vs Riley, Kingston vs Miz etc halfway down the card, it doesn't do much for the prestige of the belt. The Rock vs Cena match would elevate the title rather than the other way round.

You mean next year right? Could've sworn we've already had a rumble this year lol

But it's a bit of a daft question. WWE are extremely unlikely to just drop on of their biggest selling PPV's.
