Moderators PowerButchi Posted February 21, 2012 Moderators Share Posted February 21, 2012 Mark Smith, who wrestled under the names Rex King and Timothy Well, was reported in Puerto Rico to have passed away today. He was part of the tag team The Southern Rockers with the late Steve Doll, one of the most popular tag teams ever in that part of the country. They were major stars in Oregon and eventually went to the WWF as the tag team Well Dunn. In a sad irony, all three members of that team, which was originally Doll & Scott Peterson, with Rex King replacing Peterson when he retired from wrestling, have passed away before the age of 50. The Cum Doctor
It always amazes me how well they gelled right off the bat. It was actually scary.
Magnum Milano
I've been watching the 1991 Superstars of Wrestling season, and he makes an appearance towards the start of the year under the name J.T. Smith, putting over Jim Duggan. On a similar note, jobber Terrence Blaylock looks suspiciousy like a young Gangsta Mustafa. Â RIP and all that. Cannibal Man
Sad news, but I'm failing to see how that's irony as the writer has points out. Unless all three members of the team were cooked to perfection over a hot grill.
Kenny McBride
I always liked Well Dunn. They were around at that odd period when the WWF debuted half a dozen tag teams in the space of about three weeks - the Quebecers, MOM, Well Dunn, The Smoking Gunns...it was a really cool time for a huge tag team fan like me, especially since I think the Steiners and the Samoans were still around too. They weren't the best out of that lot and they were always destined to be bottom rung guys, but I vividly remember one match they had where they killed a couple of jobbers using almost nothing but elbows and forearm smashes of various kinds. They were really fun and combined with the awesome physical presence of big Mabel, the sweet double-teams of the Quebecers, the utterly astonishing finish of the Gunns along with the other teams of the time and various top guys tagging up on Raw for various sorts of "dream match", they were still a cool team to have around because they added a whole new level of depth to a tag division that hadn't had thought sort of depth for a good few years. In the nicest possible way, they were the Conquistadores of the mid '90s.

Since everyone expects to live to old age, I guess any premature death is an irony.

Moderators Astro Hollywood Posted February 21, 2012 Moderators Share Posted February 21, 2012 On a similar note, jobber Terrence Blaylock looks suspiciousy like a young Gangsta Mustafa. Â The first Google result for that name is a Youtube video with the fantastic title 'HUGE Musclebear J W Storm Dominates Beefy Terrence Blaylock' Â Uploader 'HUGEWRESTLERS' has a type, I'll give him that. Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted February 21, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted February 21, 2012 Why the fuck couldnt this have happened with good dead people like the Boss Ma ... erm ... Mr. Perfect and Randy Savage? A big 40 page thread talking about how we would never get to see that beautiful beard ever again, only for someone to pop in and say "Lads, false alarm! Randy Savage was seen in Tescos buying Pancake mix". Â Butch, I'm nicking that thread title when he really dies, you know. I'm starting a thread called "Well also Dunn" and I'll get all the praise for it.
Moderators PowerButchi Posted February 21, 2012 Author Moderators Share Posted February 21, 2012 I wasn't really arsed when I thought he was dead to be honest. Just wanted to make a Well Dunn joke. Â But anyway, if you rob my Well Dunn joke, I'll rob your top 50 to online rapturous applause.
